  1. While the fair parking entrances are about a mile off the highway. The Glenn can still get pretty backed up in the mid-late afternoon for all the concert goers and everyone who was leaving during the day. That being said the traffic isn't that bad and you're going on weekdays so it should lighten the load a bit.

To answer your question, it may add 15 minutes on the 29th because you're going with the traffic but shouldn't add too much the next day.

  2. I've had great experiences flight-seeing and hunting expeditions with Rusts in Anchorage, K2 Aviation in Talkeetna (owned by the same family) and Wrangell Mountain Air in McCarthy. They were all really nice and the flights are amazing.

But Basically no matter who you fly with in Alaska, you're pretty much getting the same thing. Flying over Denali is definitely a highlight though.

Only thing in Alaska is that the weather can be bad so it's good to build a little wiggle room in toyour schedule.

If the cruise line allows you to cancel excursions with a refund close to the date, book two and cancel if the first one works out. That way you have two chances to fly. If you book independently, most places will allow you to cancel pretty close to the date because people are always looking to fly.

  3. K2 Aviation in Talkeetna is by far the best. Knowledgeable pilots and reliable planes.

I think Princess and HAL have tours that have a long enough stop in Talkeetna but have never done a tour through the state. Usually just did it ourselves with an RV.

  4. The question isn't why they lost power. Stuff does happen. The question is why they didn't have a backup data center. When the one in ATL went offline all the users should have switched over automatically to the backup site. I bet a CTO is on the unemployment line today.

It's very expensive to have a complete backup data center.

  5. As a pilot, it was so eerie flying into Atlanta this morning. It was so empty with ATC. Only a couple of heavies flying in with us that weren't affected while in the air. When Southwest had this issue a few weeks ago, we were all so out of place, it took almost a week to seem like all the problems were completely fixed

  6. Our flight was at 11:30 am on Saturday, woke up to MAJOR snow. We were pretty worried that we wouldn't be able to fly out! But we left on time nor problems. We flew Southwest, the flight was less than an hour and cost $49!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm pretty sure I was your pilot. That plane gave me a lot of trouble, the weather, not so much. An aircraft, especially a large jet, is a complicated piece of machinery and it’s not uncommon for things not to work properly. There are multiple backups for all important systems and for the most part, you on board are almost always oblivious to malfunctions.

As we were climbing, I noticed the left main landing gear unsafe light was illuminated. About the time the I had started running the checklist, the landing gear door light became illuminated. After working through the various checklist procedures, were able to correct the issue by turning the engine-driven hydraulic pumps from low to high, we heard and felt a loud kathunk as the some portion of the gear or gear doors found their correct place and the warning lights went out. And landed on time. All without you noticing a thing! LOL.

Thanks for flying Southwest! And wonderful review so far. The one Spirit Class ship I've been on has been my favorite so far, and now with the Miracle leaving we're only stuck with the Pride and the Legend.
