  1. I e-mailed the hotel, and just thought I would share in case anyone else is interested.

He said the reort is about a 35 minute cab ride, and a cab should cost around 200 Pesos (about $16) This seems CRAZY CRAZY cheap to me for a cab ride thats 35 minutes!!

The day passes are $96 for adults, $46 for children under 18

  2. That is crazy, they have no idea what airfares to EU will be for 2014 and flying from the US to AU is even more - that is just an excuse.

Australia is becoming a huge cruising market and they can make $$$ there:D

In Europe Carnival's primary customer is people flying in from North America, hence the concern about the price of airfare.

In Australia Carnival's primary customer is people who live in Australia, so the price of airfare in not important to their business model. Obviously if flying from the US to Europe is expwensive than flying to Australia is even more expensive.

And DUH of course its a way for them to make more money, thats what companies do! Make money! lol

  3. I know this resort is fairly new (at least as a HR, pretty sure it was something else before that). Just wondering if anyone knows how far it is from the PV Cruise Port? and any idea what a taxi would cost to get there? Or is some other mode of transport easier or cheaper?

Also do they offer day passes to the resort and cost associated with that?

    Any help is appreciated!

  4. You should NEVER dread going to New Orleans! It is such a wonderful city with SOOO much to do!! I have never cruised from there, but I have visited several times and love every minute of it!! I really would like to cruise from there, but I have been to most of the Western ports, and to so few of the Eastern ports that cruising from NOLA is just not logical for me right now. Maybe once Sunshine gets there, and I get tired of the Eastern side I'll switch it up, cuz any reason to visit Bourban St, is a good reason!

  5. Wrigly your review is awesome by the way. I have been re-living my Freedom cruise from March of last year by reading your review, and counting down the days to my Valor cruise in September.

On a side note I was in Chicago recently and took the Wrigley Field tour, simply amazing. That old ball park is so cool, now if only the Cubs could put together something other than a AAA team to play there!

  6. Did you hear any of the other passengers say anything about their excursions in Ocho Rios? We are still trying to decide what to do there in May....I was looking forward to seeing your pictures of a Jamaica:)

Ocho Rios gets a bad rap, especially on these boards. Yes some of the locals can be a little more agressive than people like, but don't stay on the ship just becuase of what anyone says on here.

If you have never been, I strongly recommend going to Dunn's River Falls. These are several excursion choices to take you there. We did the Cool Runnings Catamaran and had an absolute blast!

Here is a link to my Freedom review with lots of pictures from all the ports and such. Check in out, and really consider Cool Runnings for a great Dunn's River Falls excursion.

  7. It depends on your carrier. With Verizon most of Puerto Rico is included on the Nationwide plan, so as long as you are not roaming you will not be charged. If your phone is roaming the charge is $.69 per minute in Puerto Rico.

    From the Verizon site:

Most of Puerto Rico is included in the Nationwide and America’s Choice Coverage Areas. If you roam out of the Nationwide or America’s Choice coverage area, you will be charged $.69 per minute. Please use your device's banner as an indicator of your roaming status. Click here to view the approximate coverage areas.

  8. How was the Santo Domingo city tour? I was considering doing that as a way to get there and back cheaper and without missing the ship. From reading the description it looks like the tour gives you some shopping time where the HRC is looked. Is this correct? Did you happen to see the HRC on the tour?

  9. I am an avid Hard Rock Cafe collector and La Romana does not have a location. The closest locations are in Santo Domingo or Puna Cana. I was wondering if its possible to take a taxi from La Romana to one of these locations (preferably Santo Domingo) and back and what the cost would be? Or is there a public transportation option to either place that would be possible? Were are in port 8-5, so time should not be a problem getting there and back.
