  1. I'm a bit younger I think than the standard Celebrity crowd (early 30s), but if fashion means nothing to you then you might like my solution. :D I wear Vibram Five Finger shoes... Specifically, I use the Sprints:

    Vibram-FiveFingers-Sprint-Women-Full.jpg

The upside to those is that they're great water shoes and I don't have any problems with sand getting inside because they're pretty skintight. I also find them really pleasant to walk in, although I've heard complaints that they don't have very good arch support (never a problem for me).

    Just offering another option!!

Oh, I forgot to add: the reason I love these is that I had a blood clot about a decade ago and now MUST wear support stockings unless I want my leg to swell up. These shoes are the only way I can get the "barefoot" feeling of walking on the sand while still rocking the stockings.

  2. We are leaving very early in the morning on the day after our cruise. We will dock within the 24 hour time frame for check-in (7am docking and I think 7am flight the following day). Does anyone know whether this would still be an option for us?

  3. They don't do the tea sandwiches and small savouries any longer. It's pastries at breakfast until about 11:30, then they change over to desserts for the rest of the day. I do miss the savouries and tea sandwiches, as I try to avoid lunch, and am happy just to have a small bite at lunch time. Perhaps it doesn't make sense to have a change-over to savouries for 3 hours in the middle of the day when so many people are off the ship on most days. It would be wonderful if they could go back to the savouries at lunch on sea days.

Café al Bacio is one of my favourite elements of a Celebrity cruise.

Aw! I'm sad that those sandwiches are gone since they were my personal favorite "meal" at the Cafe, but I really appreciate knowing before we sail. :(

  4. Yup, just like Starbucks. :)

Hah! Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the experience of sitting at the cafe when I had the time, but the option to leave with a nice coffee was definitely something we took advantage of :D

  5. I'm not 100% sure they're still doing this since we haven't cruised in two years, but one of the things I really liked about the Cafe was that they were happy to put drinks in to-go cups. It was so easy to grab coffee to go and bottled water on our way off to our shore excursions. :D

As others have said, the food is all available free of charge and they change out what they're serving throughout the day (pastries at breakfast, tea sandwiches at tea time, desserts after dinner, etc.). They're actually a nice quick bite.

There are five pages of coffee and tea drinks in their menu, and I believe that everything up to the final heading on the fourth page is covered under the classic beverage package.... Specialty coffee at the end of the fourth page and the whole fifth page theoretically aren't covered under the classic package, although I've read reports on Cruise Critic that on some cruises the whole menu has been covered by the classic package.

  6. They won't provide the CC menu in a non-CC cabin. But you can still order the basic hot items, as well as basic cold items not listed, by writing them in or phone order (and I believe you can phone the order in the night before).

They are the same thing. These have all been converted to a special concierge room for the upper level suites and top "Zenith" level Captain's Club members. But I have heard the craft beers have been moved to another lounge on the ships such as Cellarmasters.

Wow. It's been only a couple of years since our last cruise and some of these changes are really stunning. Thank you for the quick answer though :)

  7. Could someone perhaps explain whether Michael's and Michael's Club are the same thing? I know that one of the things that my husband is very much looking forward to drinking craft beer, but I'm becoming a little bit concerned at all this talk about "for suites only." If he can no longer go enjoy the 50 beers or whatever I'd like to know ahead of time so I can let him down gently instead of him becoming upset on the ship... :(

  8. happyscmom - I thought we established the upgrade question on that other thread. ;)

The reason we cannot upgrade our category and keep the 123 is because the old promo is gone and the new promo does not include our sailing. March cruises were left out of the new promo. If the new promo was valid for our sailing, we would be able to make changes and keep the incentives.

Personally, I think we should be able to pay extra and upgrade, along with keeping our incentives. I don't understand why Celebrity is turning down more money from consumers. Their loss!

Yes, unless this rule has also changed, you may switch staterooms (within the same category) after final payment. We switched locations just prior to final payment for our cruise with you. Have also changed many times afterwards on other cruises...though mostly to a higher category.

Hey! They recently put March sailings back on the list included in 123 Go. Try calling again. My parents were able to add it to their March sailing by paying the extra $200 difference in fare (they were already CC so the $200 was worth it to get all three promotions). Ymmv of course but it did work for them so perhaps you will be lucky too if you call back!

  9. I'm in my early thirties and I'm open to fun but not actively looking for a party. Celebrity has always struck a nice chord in that sense for me and my husband. If you're looking for a livelier cruise with Celebrity, I'd honestly recommend an itinerary over St. Patrick's Day. Out of our (I think) five trips with Celebrity that specific cruise was exceptionally memorable for its much more laid back atmosphere. Not necessarily what I was expecting but fun and entertaining nonetheless! :D

  10. Alaska, Antarctica (can you tell I like the cold) and Cuba

I would love any of those three (I also love the cold), and I'd throw in Belize. :D I've always wanted to visit but the only Celebrity itineraries that seem to stop there are at terrible times of the year for us and on trips that are longer than we can currently get off of work.

  11. I have one booked with loyalty discount (15% I believe) and no 123 does not apply.

I booked a suite, so mathematically, I'm better off keeping the 15% discount versus the value of the drink package and using the extra savings to buy a package or my drinks as I go.

They did however apply a shareholder OBC credit to the reservation.

I think it is quite fair that they apply the policy and restrictions of the promotion.

From the Terms and Conditions of the 123 offer:

Your T&C may vary in Australia, but I assume it at least has this same clause as part of it.

Since you've brought that up, I'm curious whether an open passages voucher counts as stacking with the 123 Go promotion? I ask because Celebrity actually did let me have both on this sailing although they have not in the past.

  12. I think what ailetoile is referring to is, for the extra $200 fare, her parents got the 123Go AI promo versus the current regular, low discounted fare. Using pricing for our 3/28 Reflection sailing (as just an example), we currently have a choice of:

    1. C2 for $1299 pp with 123Go AI (i.e. all three perks), OR

    2. C2 for $1099 pp with no promo

And Aqua-class is only $50 pp more for each.

So while I don't have their specific booking info, my guess is that they booked the regular low fare for their concierge-class stateroom and X allowed them to pay the additional $200 pp for the 123Go AI as per my example above. Hope this sounds right and helps. :)

Yes, that's exactly what happened. Thanks, sometimes having it worded a different way makes all the difference :)

  13. Glad it all worked out. Could you explain a little better?

When did your parents originally book? After the call, did they have to pay an additional $200 to get the 123?

And I have learned something new! I didn't know there was a Concierge Class customer experience number. Where did you find that? I always call the Captains Club. Perhaps I should try the number you called.

Sorry, I didn't see the first part of this question. They originally booked for a March sailing two days after the 123 Go promotion was renewed but only through April sailings.

  14. Just wondering what the fare difference was....did they have to pay more and then got the 123 go?

We are booked in Concierge Class thru a TA and made final payment a few weeks ago for our March cruise and am confused about this. Some say no you can't get it and some say you can.

Glad it all worked out. Could you explain a little better?

I can only describe our experience here:

In my parents' case, they were already in concierge class. They paid an extra $200 (fare difference) to get all three of the 123 Go perks. I don't know if this will actually help anyone and I have no guarantees that Celebrity will honor their deal for you as they did for our parents, but it made a big difference for my mom and dad.

We called the Celebrity Experience Desk at 1-800-590-6221 for Concierge Class and higher. I did get transferred once, but when I specifically said the words "Concierge Class experience desk" the lady confirmed I was still going in the right place but to a different experience.

While we were on the phone, the rep was amazing. He was able to give my mom and dad the 123 Go promotion despite their final payment being done. He linked our dinner reservations and put us at a four-person table. He upgraded three of our four classic drink packages to premium (but was able to leave the other, which I had heard conflicting reports about). He was also able to give me $100 onboard credit in addition to 123 Go because we had used an open passages to book the trip.

The rep's name was Carlos and I cannot say enough positive things about speaking to him. :)

  15. My husband and I are enjoying CC on our quest to get to Elite status as fast as possible (three more seven-night sailings after the one we're booked on, woo!). If it weren't for that, I believe we would take the balcony and just call it a day unless there was something like the 123 Go promotion to consider.

Just to give you some perspective of us.... We're both very, very relaxed and easygoing individuals. We've never had a problem with the food or the service on Celebrity no matter what class we have chosen to sail. With regards to CC specifically, we enjoy the canapes, the footstools, the expanded room service, and the other extra perks, but to be honest I don't believe they're worth the money if there's a big difference in the fares. The Captain's Club points, on the other hand, are definitely worth it to us.

  16. SHIP: Reflection

    CABIN #: 9299

    DECK #: 9

    CLASS: Concierge

    AREA: Port (almost aft)

    BED NEAR: Balcony

QUIET?: Mostly... During rough seas the room creaked a LOT. It sounded like we were inside a bag of popcorn.

BALCONY VIEW: Excellent with no obstructions

BALCONY SIZE: Slightly larger than normal. The left-hand side of the balcony juts out about an extra 1.5 feet. That area has appropriate legroom for someone on the tall side who would hit their feet lounging in a normal balcony.

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: I had read that the elevators were really quite far away, but from our perception it wasn't a big deal. That's not to say it won't be for some people, but I like to walk and enjoyed having a little farther to go! Aside from the noise of the ship settling (which I understand is normal for a newer ship), the room was very quiet and peaceful. A little bit on the warm side at night, but this is a consistent problem that we find with Celebrity. Overall we would definitely book this cabin again.
