  1. Always fun to have people familiar with a particular ship chime in and educate those of of who have not sailed on her yet. My family and I are going to be aboard the Sun in 09/2014 so we have lots of time. I am assembling a tip letter for all of the people sailing and am looking for those tips and "secrets" exclusive to the Sun. Have done this with other ships and it is always fun - and most of the time very valuable information to have! Any tips anyone? ;)

And DW and I will be on her Nov 2014 so I would be interested as well!

  2. For us too, the Jubilee started our love of cruising. 30 Dec, 2000, out of Tampa for a 5 nighter in R115 to Cozumel and Grand Caymen. Our DD was ticked off like nobodies business that we left for a cruise on her 8th birthday! But she ended up having a great time with Grandpa and my wife and I got bitten by the cruise bug. Thank you Jubilee!!

  3. Mutual funds are taxed annually, unlike individual stocks. My dad, Mr. Smart Investor, advised me to get out of mutual funds and into individual stocks. I started with $500 of Ford, sold that at a quite remarkable profit, and have enjoyed dabbling ever since. My stocks are not my retirement fund.

OP, the price of Carnival stock should go down in the winter season and is a good time to buy. I purchased mine in 3 different transactions over the course of a year until I had the required 100 shares. So far I've received 3 dividend checks of $25 each and OBC of $100. I very much enjoy the benefits of my CCL stock and hope you do too. :)

So, 100 shares is required to get OBC? Is that $100 OBC on each cruise? Per person or per cabin? Could you have the dividends reinvested in more stock automatically instead of getting a check if you chose? Does the amount of OBC vary with with amount of stock owned?

  4. I'm never amazed anymore of how people parade themselves around both on and off the ship.........wide loads wearing too little cloth.....cadaverous looking girls/women.........lots of "cracked" up low riders......women with grotesquely inflated "floatation devices"

That's why I never take the forward elevators when people are getting back onto the ship........too many nasty sweaty bodies crammed in.......

What's wrong with grotesquely inflated "flotation devices"? :D

  5. I am curious to know how many times you've sailed the same ship and why?

We just sailed on the Dream, and we really liked that ship. I am already browsing cruises on it for next year different itinerary. Would you choose the same ship again or choose something different for a change?

Twice. RCCL Mariner of the Seas (still my favorite ship ever) Eastern and Western and Carnival Liberty, Eastern and Western. Loved both the ships and their itineraries.

  6. Love your review and pictures. I have a few questions if you don't mind :)

1- In the above pictures, where did you drop off your luggage?

2-We are driving and I was wondering if you see where the parking area was?

3-We are always at the port at about 10:30 and get a zone 4-5 card. Even last September we left out of Miami on the Valor. I guess there's not question here, I guess it was just more crowded.

Thanks for the pictures and review. Can't wait to hear more.

I was on the Liberty last June. Love that ship!! The parking area is right across the street from the terminal....about a 200 ft walk. If you're there at 1030 (like I am) you should be able to park in the covered parking, first floor. Then across the street and the porters are right there to take your luggage. Then walk in the doors to security and a week of relaxation!
