  1. The doctor is right, very rarely can a physician tell you what an allergic reaction is from. I don't have allergies, but I get an allergic reaction to certain lotions and powders.... and this only started in the last few years. Allergies and allergic reactions can start at any age, and they may never happen again.

So which is it? You said that the bad doctor said it was an allergic reaction, the good doctor said it was a bacterial infection but you think it was bed bugs?? Something doesn't add up.

  2. As a disclaimer... I'm not a foodie by any means. We were on the Explore in March. I found the food to be pretty good. Not 5 star like someone mentioned, but definitely NOT horrible. I ended up getting the steak several nights in the dining room, and it was always cooked perfectly.

We always ordered one of the main pasta dishes as an appetizer, and then 3 or 4 of us would split it. After the first night of doing this, the waiter just brought out several smaller portions for us.

For the appetizers, there was always Caesar salad which I loved. Several of the soups were great too. What I like is that I get to try things I would normally never order. One night I tried the chilled strawberry soup, and it was pretty amazing.

The cheeseburger sliders were great too, a big hit with the kids and adults. Those were also on the menu every night.

What people have to remember is that Royal Caribbean isn't a luxury cruise liner. It is a mass market cruise line that treats their passengers very well and feeds them very well for what I think is a reasonable price. No its not a to of the line gourmet experience.... but that's not what we're paying for.

I was always happy with my meals. And the wait staff was great too, so that made it so much better.

  3. What is the mystery dinner?

I have priority boarding, can I bring my group with me?

It's been a while since I've been on the ship, do they have milkshakes?

We were with a group of 11, 4 of us were in suites and the others were in regular balcony rooms.

When we checked in at the "suite/VIP" area, the really nice lady at check in walked around the counter and ran over and got the rest of my group. She said they could come in with us, even though they weren't in suites.

I thought that was super nice of her. :D

  4. When we sailed out of Bayonne, we took a car service. They dropped us off at about 11, very little wait to get up to the drop off area. We left on a Tuesday if that makes any difference.

We were in a suite, so we went over to the suite check in area, and they let us bring along other members of our group that weren't in a suite.

After checking in and getting our pictures taken, we waited in the terminal for about 20 minutes. They started calling wheelchair guests to board the bus first, then the suite (priority?) section. We hopped on the bus, drove a few hundred yards and walked onto the ship on deck 1.

I was pretty pleased with the whole process.

  5. Me & my sister were also on that sailing - we had never been to Labadee & had a cabana booked there - we were bummed but not mad cause stuff happens out of your control - it was fun sitting up in the Viking Crown Lounge enjoying the storm outside though.

You're out of your mind!! :D

I was seriously losing it, it was such a rocky ride. :(

I felt like almost the whole trip was affected by weather. But that's a chance you take on any cruise. In all, we still had a great time, and the ship and crew were amazing

  6. Has anyone ever had their itinerary changed due to a storm? What was the outcome?

Yes. The march 5th sailing on the Explorer, this year. We hit such a bad storm that originally the captain told us we would be late to Labadee. Then later that day he told us we wouldn't make it all.

Instead we would continue onto Puerto Rico and be there 9am - 9 pm instead of 2pm - 10pm.

We were bummed because we had excursions planned for Labadee.

  7. This year on the Explorer, March 5-15. On day two I woke at 4 am and the ship was already rocking... and it lasted almost 24 hours. The captain told us that it was 110 knots and waves 25-28 feet. There was even 3 broken windows in the dining room.

It was only my second cruise, but I haven't decided yet if it was my last. :(

I guess I feel very differently. If people looked at me and thought "there is a dishonest person", I'd feel like I had lost a lot.

You'd feel like you lost a lot if anonymous people on a mesage board thought badly of you? :D

To the OP: It can't hurt to try, but for 3 little nip bottles it might not be worth the hassle.
