  1. LOL, I totally expect a comment like that to start. But, shortly thereafter when he realizes two bedrooms means more adult time I know he'll get over it. ;)

I've never stayed in a 2 bedroom Haven on the Epic but did get a tour of one and for more than 2 people this is perfect. The DOS are really only for 2 people, yes the couch in the living room pulls out into a bed but then you lose the living room so what's the point, plus you only have 1 1/2 baths where the 2 bedroom suite has the 2 bathrooms.

  2. You could check with NCL and see if you can check in with the rest of us peasants so that you do not ruin the surprise. I think when he walks to the suit the first time he will know before you open the door anyway, If he doesn't get a photo ID by Friday it may be a moot point too, but I know he will find one so that shouldn't happen. Have a great cruise next week I love St Martin and you will too.

I booked the DOS on the Epic this past March and when we opened the door Blair said in delight "What the H.... did this cost us " ...it's on a need to know basis :). I've booked a DOS again for this coming March :p

  3. Anyone have any comments on this cabin which is a 2 bedroom with 2 couples? Is the second bedroom small? Is the bed a double or full. When the bed is folded down is there room to get around? Going to be a 14 day TA so don't what people to be uncomfortable.

    Thanks

This video of a 2 bedroom shows the bed pulled out, the bathroom etc.

  4. Dlynn 0366......thank you, thank you, thank you! This is the kind of info I needed. We would rather not be "on display" while out on the balcony. And I like island music , just not each and every day, all day. I think we will definitely stick with 17004. We have looked at all the pix on another 'cruise deck' website, but, pictures online can be very deceiving and 'objects in mirror are closer than they appear' apparently ;). At times we love to sit on the balcony and just watch the ocean go by and it sounds as if it would be more like watching the people go by instead in 17030. It's only the two of us this trip so no worries there. We've had the two bedroom villa in the past and liked it well enough. The only complaint I had with it is I'm not wild about the bedroom being so tucked back in the alcove where you can't really see out when you first wake up (that, and the fact that we were directly below the free weights in the gym. Learned a very valuable lesson there. Always check what's above and below you when booking!). The view might be the thing I'm looking forward to the most with the Epic DOS. The wrap around windows in front of the bed seem like they will be amazing to wake up to each morning. I'll look for your friend request. We're going in January so maybe I can return the favor and answer any questions you might have after we get back. Thanks again!

There were times on the balcony I felt like I was the Queen :p people waving up...me waving back.

  5. 17004 was without a doubt the best cabin ever.

You can find pics in my flickr account.

I came across your pics before I booked 17004 :) I think from what I have seen in video's & pics one difference in 17030 & 17004 is that in 17030 the mirrored area with seat for putting make-up on, air dryer etc. was located in the large walk in closet where from either a video or a pic I saw it looks like this area is in actual bathroom? Also in 17030 the toilet area has just a curtain, not sure if 17004 has an actual door or not.

  6. We will be cruising in January on the Epic and are having a very difficult time deciding. We are currently booked in 17004, however, 17030 is also available. We are cabin dwellers and like to spend time on our balcony. We have read that privacy can be an issue in 17030 because of the pool deck. However, in pictures it appears that the pool deck is some distance from the cabin balcony. This cabin also looks like it might be a bit larger in square footage and the balcony definitely looks bigger than 17004. Are we correct in these assumptions? Any advice you guys can give us would be greatly appreciated.

I can help you with this :) This past March I was in 17030 but for this coming March I've booked 17004. The suite itself was beautiful but the noise, not people noise but music during the day from the lower deck was a bit much at times. This year the weather was a bit cooler and it would have been nice some days to have the balcony doors open to catch a breeze but if DH had the TV on this was impossible as he couldn't hear the TV over the deck music. I love reading and normally noise doesn't bother me but to read out on the balcony I found this distracting. The other thing was regardless of what time you got up in the am if you wanted to step out on your balcony you needed to be covered up as even at 5 am people were out on the main deck either grabbing chairs for the day or watching the sun rise. Your balcony is pretty exposed and there were quite often people looking up at you. So I'd have to say if you want to be right in the thick of things take 17030 but if you want something more private go with 17004. Also the view from the balcony on 17030 the majority of it is over the pool deck and while it wraps around slightly to the side to get a nice water view you had to stand and sort of look over and down. The balcony in 17030 is bigger but if there is just 2 of you it's much bigger than one needs, also 17030 is a bigger suite but again with just 2 people either suite has ton's of room. If you are more than 2 people there is no way I'd do the DOS as you then have to turn your living room/dining room into a bedroom so I would for sure choose a 2 bedroom villa. I've sent you a friend request so I'm not sure thru this we can communicate or I can provide you with my email and send you some pic's of 17030.

  7. I have been trying to find out if the spa suites on the Epic get all of these perks as well, specifically the bottle of Champagne and 3 bottles of liquor? It seemed to me that maybe the spa suites don't have all the same perks.

I was in Spa Suite last year on Epic, no liquor just a bottle of Champage....did I drink it..Oh Yeah....would I ever buy it myself to drink....Oh No :p...it was there...didn't want to see it go to waste! One thing about the Spa Suite also it's good exercise to get to the Haven. I didn't find the walk bad but say if you got to POSH and then found you forgot your suncreen you'd want to kick yourself in the butt :)

  8. :D

We are very happy that this service is there even if we are not in a Haven suite this time. We did not get a letter, hear about it from our PC, or know from prior service. We found a CC thread that said that the concierge desk had a number, so I called to ask if was just haven guests or was it all suites. I was told ALL full suite guests (meaning no mini suites) were included.

What does pre-cruise concierge service offer?

    1. The name of our concierge at sea...Yea we have Monica on the Star next week!

    2. Pillow service planned ahead...means no feathers in the room for me when I enter!

    3. Beer on ice for my DH when he gets in the room. (not gonna happen otherwise)

    4. All of the stuff in the fridge will be taken out so to make room for what I want.

    5. The coffee I want will be in the room for the machine will be well stocked.

    6. We requested a certain butler....MAXI

So, if you are staying in a suite, you can do this too! Just call 1-855-625-4283. Yup, any suite on any ship! I sooooo love NCL!!:D

Thank you for posting. I don't have any special requests other than we don't drink liquor so asked my PCC a couple of weeks ago if we could switch the liqiour out for 3 bottles of wine, this was not an issue but then again I chose 3 bottles of their Beringer White Zinfandel which is cheap. I believe you are in DOS 17030 on the Epic this coming week. I am booked now in 17030 for the Mar 9th cruising.

  9. I have never sailed on the Epic, and it has been a few years since I have sailed from Miami. We went through security and then through the main building and there was a woman with a clipboard just before the lines for everyone. We gave her our e-docs and pointed us to the latitudes line.

To be granted access all you need is 1 prior sailing with NCL. The Epic may work differently, as may the Pearl now.

Those people with the clipboards are not always right, I was in the Haven & had not read I was suppose to go to VIP check-in so I showed 2 different woman actually with clipboards my e-doc's and they sent us to the regular check-in (I kept saying to my husband I think we get to stand in a shorter line for the price we paid), then when I got to check-in they were very apologetic & took us to the VIP lounge. I was good, no big deal, either way I was going on a cruise :D This March I know the ropes :p

  10. Seeing a really overweight and out of shape hairy European in a speedo and throwing your frozen strawberry margarita into his....um...speedo:p

Seeing a really super hot, young European god and trying to get into his...um...speedo:o

Note to self - cut down on the margaritas:D

I'm laughing :p A doctor I work with says she hates when she goes back home to Europe & her Grandpa hits the beach with his speedo :D

  11. Hi OttawaJohn, whom I assume is in the Ottawa, Ont., area, I'm about 20 min. outside the city. My husband & I were on the Epic last Mar and I've rebooked this coming Mar this time in a Owners Suite.....I'm telling my husband we got a really good deal :p I've pasted the link to a website by Arron Saunders who did a blog etc on his Epic Eastern Carribbean trip with many nice photos. I'm doing the same cruise again this coming year....I think I actually only saw 1/2 the ship last cruise :). Even though we were part of the Haven & could have eaten in the Epic Club, other than the Cagney's Steak House twice & Moderno's once we were great fan's of the buffet :p
