  1. Apparently it is opening today.  Maybe they are going to open the terminal building.  It doesn't look like much else is ready to go on the webcam.

    Clips from news site:

New Nassau Port to Officially Open May 26.

The completion of the project is forecasted for 2024 and travelers can look forward to the addition of a signature restaurant and a range of family-friendly attractions.

  2. I was surprised when I saw the opening was still this month but there is a big push to get this done.

They want to become the world busiest cruise port.  Looks like this will be another port to add to the avoid list.

  3. We took a ship tour to Atlantis and stayed there way past the tour pickup time.  I think the tour went back before dinner but we decided to stay and eat there.

We caught a taxi(this was a actually a large multi seat van) right outside the front area of the hotel.

Just ask someone once you arrive there how and where to get a ride back to the ship.

There are limits EVERYWHERE for mostly everything. For air pilots it's maximum age of 60 ~ 65 years, for air traffic controllers it's 56.

I'm not advocating a ban on older people cruising (I'm over 60 myself) BUT there are some cruisers out there who are so frail as to be a risk to themselves and their fellow passengers. It's very selfish in those cases to cruise just because "I have insurance"

They should just make everyone sign a form agreeing they will not have any emergencies while on their cruise.

  5. I probably heard of more people that used at-home test to verify they had Covid then getting an official test.

Some families only 1 out the the family gets official test and the rest just assume what they have is Covid because it fits in with the timing.

That is a large percentage of people that are not in the test results.

But are they as the CDC may be showing estimated results.  They have done that many times before.

Well, the title says it all. Why can’t Royal include a decent serving of fresh vegetables with an entree? And no, one piece of broccoli does not count.

More than likely they throw out(grind up) more vegetables than anything else. So it would make sense to cut back on portions.

We eat a lot of vegetables but sometimes it hard to eat the vegetables when were out because of how they are prepared.

  7. I believe back when Hurricane Sandy(2012) flooded NY and NJ there were reports of some cars having issues with flooding in the parking lot.   As I recall it was limited to the lower areas of the lot.  The garage was not built at that time.  The garage is elevated a few feet above the road and the existing lot so it probably would not of been effected from Sandy.  I think Sandy was the highest the water ever was.

  8. The Gold status can be confusing in the beginning.

Years ago during our second cruise ever on the Explorer my wife and I were on the pool deck looking for a spot to sit.  We were near the Gold section which was the tiered decks area and there were only a couple of people there.  I said to my wife we’re Gold we can sit up here.  So we went up there grabbed 2 loungers and sat down.   A waiter came over and asked what we wanted.  I gave him my card and he brought us drinks no problem.  Maybe he just figured more tips.   But I kept seeing this one women glaring at giving us an evil eye.   I had no idea what she was glaring at us for but now I assume she had a real Gold card.   At some point after that we figured out there is an actual Gold card and that Gold status is not worth much.

The passport card will work for Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, but it is good only for domestic flights. I think it was designed for people who cross the border frequently. It has limited purposes whereas the passport book is universally accepted.

We always take our passcards with us for domestic travel and keep them in a different location as our licenses.   This way we have backup ID in case our licenses are lost or stolen.

Give it about 3-5 more months, this will all be a memory.  Many things are happening right now that will change all of this (of course not shown in MSM).

5 months puts us  close to the start of winter which helps Corona Viruses to thrive.   Hopefully the cases won't get out of hand with the majority of people being vaccinated. Being Global this won't be behind us.

Still doesn't matter.  With larger ships this would make a huge one way demand before and after each cruise to and from different airports in the US.

The smaller partially filled ship probably works out well for Bermuda.  Most people probably stretch their vacation out and stay for extra days or a week.  Flying when there are open seats.   This puts them in the normal air traffic load.
