  1. Thanks for your informative posts. We are joining the Majestic when she arrives in Brisbane and staying on for the Fiji cruise so it is good to know what's what. We also have an obstructed deluxe balcony on Emerald Deck right forward. From photos we've seen the only obstruction is a non-glass railing and the balcony is extended because of the slope at the bow.

We had Andrew Kadillac on one of our cruises - I thought the Patter bio said he was Canadian. Anyway, looking forward to a new ship.

Hi Sandy...from another Sandy lol... yep, my brother is also forward in the Emerald deck obstructeds..we are a bit more midship but same deck...there is a great site for looking up your balcony view..I will see if I can post it here...see you onboard! cheers... Sandy n Dave :)

here we go.....shows most balconies....scroll down...

  2. CHEZNANDY....wow. thanks for that great information on all the good stuff on Majestic,,you have spent a lot of time doing all that,.... thanks so much...definately looks like quite a lot to do in the evenings, thats great... looks like quite an array of music too!... we are looking forward to anytime dining and nice to know they have made extra seating areas and coffee places available....enjoy Busan, and we look forward to your updates...cheers S&D :):)

  3. Thanks Les, that was very kind of you to post all that...very helpful!...yes, we love the big Princess ships, so it will be interesting to see what everyone thinks of the new Majestic...

we see Cheznandy posted that they have already converted an area to a Crooners which will help..a lot...lol... also waiting to see if they open up a couple more bar areas and a club 6, as we Aussies like to parteeeee....:):)

time will tell and we eagerly await Cheznandy posting to us all while they are on their cruise... which is very kind of them.... we love Princess and always have a great time, especially with family and friends along.....

    cheers S&D

  4. Thanks Chez....A lot of pax to board 3500 odd. Probably many having priority boarding Platinum/Elite/Suites too, so does not always provide a quick embarkation, with so many trying to get on quickly.

When we boarded sister ship Royal Princess in Southampton in June, we waited until 3pm, on the ship in 15 minutes. Way to go, no charging to the pier at 11am with 3000 other pax for these little black ducks.

Hi Les, how did you enjoy the Royal, hope you had a great time.. cheers S&D

  5. A very kind lady was able to post a recent Majestic patter from 2 months ago for me, and I was looking to see what music etc was around in the evenings, up until recently there was only a pop up DJ in the pool area at night, and a band in the atrium/piazza area.

:):).GOOD NEWS...they are now also having a band in the vista lounge at nights, (plus in the atrium at different times)... so I'm assuming they have cleared some of the gaming tables out of the vista to make more room for entertainment... plus the DJ was also in the piazza at a later hour.... so its looking good for September lol....:);p maybe the start of a few small changes for the Oz season....

    cheers S&D

  6. No bars will be an issue for the aussie market.

Yep, just what we were thinking, will be interesting to see any changes..... I did see reviews mention the "pop up" nightclub in the late evenings, in the hollywood conservatory , but also noted there were no chairs...just sun loungers...lol.... at least there looks to be a band in the piazza at night...:).

and anyway...we always enjoy ourselves, and go with the flow....

    cheers...

  7. Hi, we are on the Shanghai to Sydney cruise.

Happy to do a Live from for anyone that wants info for the following cruises.

We are expecting a few changes during the 22 nights as they change it up a bit for the Aussie season, who wants the same old all the time anyway!

Looking forward to some Asian influence and a change of Princess ship.

We have taken the Diamond from Beijing and the Sapphire from Singapore, so very excited to do the Majestic from Shanghai:D

Thanks for that chezandy, we will follow along, we are interested to see what changes they make, if any, for our Oz market.... cheers S&D

  11. That explains why I was a bit confused, I recognised the name but not from nr Canberra. We are on the Ovation of the Seas out of Hong Kong in May for our next one, it goes to Japan (the others are in my sig block).

You should join us at the Cruisers meet ups we have in Canberra. Go to FB and look for ACT Cruisers. We meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month at the Canberra Yacht club (Southern Cross club) Yarralumla.

Yes Mic, we are just at Yass, so we can pop into Yarralumla no worries, we are always in and out to Canberra, its only half an hour or so.... I will join up that ACT group..thanks for that!

  12. We are booked on the Majestic for her NZ New Year cruise this coming December. When the deck plans for the Royal Princess were released a few years ago I was disappointed that there was no wrap-around promenade deck, no aft pools and that most of the balconies were on the small side. It will be interesting to see if the lack of these features makes any difference to our enjoyment of our Majestic cruise. I doubt it. The Majestic also lacks the Wheelhouse bar which has always been our preferred drinking venue.....but I'm sure we will adapt.

We sailed on the Diamond Princess a year after she had been 're-jigged' for the Japanese market. We had cruised on her 3 times and she was our favourite so wondered how changed she was. As it turned out, apart from the Japanese bathhouse which in Australian waters didn't seem to be popular and which meant that one of the public pools was no longer public, we enjoyed her as much as ever. Interestingly, as we had sailed on the Sapphire Princess the year before after her drydock where the International Cafe and Vines etc. were added, we decided we actually preferred her to the "Japanese" Diamond. We cruisers are such a fickle lot!

We couldn't do anything to change the Majestic's promenade deck, or her pools but we did book a mini-suite on the hump which gives us a slightly larger balcony...and I stress slightly, but hopefully I have chosen a deck where the people wandering around on the "Sea Walk" won't be peering into our cabin.

    cheers

    Stu

Thanks Stu, yep, the Diamond is still our fave, with Solstice a close second, so we are looking forward to the Majestic, and I'm sure she will be a popular ship here downunder... will also be looking forward to the reviews once she's here, I will def be doing one for sure!

    cheers
