  1. Here it is:

So we had booked an AI deal on Preziosa from Soton to Genoa and here is my review.

I'll just say here that we have sailed on NCL, RCI and P&O before so I will try to not compare with those.

Checking in and getting on was very quick (less then 40 mins from arrival at the port). First of all we went to cabin to collect our cruise cards that were waiting for us on the bed. Perfect. Then to meet up with our friends and begin to explore the ship.

We were on deck 12 and here is what we thought of the room.

Standard balcony room however with the wardrobe being by the front door it can be very tight to move around by the bathroom/wardrobe and cabin door. Enough hanging space for 2 people for one week I would say. About 7 small drawers in location too.

Large double bed which I found very comfortable tbh. Phone, Hairdryer, large mirrors, dressing table, fridge, small TV all in place. Aircon but didnt get that cool. Bathroom was standard with a walk in shower and seemed bigger than other ones we have stayed in. Service was perfect for us by Dadi. No turn down service though?

I'll talk about the food next. We were given 2nd sitting in the Golden Lobster for a table of 6 (just our party). Our waiter looked glum! And he was glum, at times service seemed to be a chore and quite slow. In fact I have never had to order my desert at the same time as my starter and main meal. Not good. Our wine waiter looked sad all the time too but he was much better and so he got a large tip from us all after the cruise.

I was worried about the food as I had read so many different things about it.

The portions were small! And I mean small...... The cheese plate was awful, elements were missing from the description from the menu. Like a crumble with no crumble?

It got to a point where we ordered chips with every meal and 2 main meals each. The saving grace was the AI drinks that made the whole experience funny. Keep the wine flowing please!!

Food in the buffet was good in comparison although don't be late for a sitting as it will be gone. Everyday there are burgers, chips and strange sausage. Pizza galore and salads. Always a carvery on too. Plastic plates dont keep food warm for long though. Tip, Get a table before food!

Entertainment is really lacking on board. The theatre shows are lame and difficult to understand... They last about 35 mins only. The animation team are worse. Stay away from them shouting and singing at every opportunity. Awful...

As for the ship, it feels cramped and almost claustrophobic in some places. It lacks finesse all over. Some staff are great and we have commended them on this.

What MSC need to get right is the ports and the timings..

In most ports we only had up to 5 hours. We heard the excursions were rushed also.

    Value for money then Yes

Finesse and fine dining or being spoilt its a no!

  2. Hi All

Just got our tickets for Preziosa for next week (eek) and we have been given the 6:30pm sitting for Dinner.

This is far to early for us and wanted to eat later at 8:30pm. We have booked through a TA who have said that it is too late to change now :-(

Anyone else had this experience at all? If we ask in the restaurant on the first day do you think we will be able to change to the later sitting?

  3. Hi

Setting sail in 3 weeks and need to know if an iron is on board? I know we cant have one in the room or take one with us but do they have a laundry for free at all?

RCL and P&O have laundry rooms - So do MSC?

  4. I'm seeing a lot of reviews where people are stating that the food is bad?

Buffet appears to be cold all the time and the main meals seem to be tiny?

Anyone else got any comments? Surely if the main meal is small you can ask for another portion?

And are cheese boards one of the courses? (I love a cheese board ;))

  5. Hi all

New to MSC and have the Classic Allegrissimo beverage package included in the price of the cruise. I am aware that it is unlimited drinks like bottled beers, glasses wine, spirit and mixers, coffee and soda.

But, I want to upgrade to the next level which includes the mini bar and champagne cocktails also.

Has anyone ever done this and how much extra will it cost?

Any help would be most welcome

    Cheers (hic) :')

  6. On each cruise we got to port at 11:30am and where onboard by 1pm - It's all very quick really (And exciting)

Formal nights we had 2 in the 7 nights. First one on the 2nd night and 2nd one on the 6th night.

Can't wait to go again :)

  7. Hi all fellow Cruise Critics

We set sail on the 3rd for the Norwegian Fjords and have booked a saver fare (I know, I know, sudden in take of breath) and as such we will be freedom dining!

We wanted to but a wine package of 12 bottle for £200 for meal times. Question is - Will we have to eat in the same restaurant each night to make sure we get our wine with Dinner?

    :D

  8. It is free if you want a splash of soda with a spirit. On Britannia in the Crow's Nest they would put it in a small jug so you could pour in how much you wanted in your drink.

If you want a small can (think it was Britvic) they will charge you for it. If you order them from room service they have a deal where you get ten cans for the price of nine.

    Hope that helps.

    Brilliant - Thank you.

  9. Hi all

Does anyone know if plain Soda water is free on board?

Thinking or buying a soda package but it seems expensive for a limited amount of Cola (other brands available he he).

If Soda is free I can take some lime cordial on board and have Vodka, lime and soda

  10. Sorry yes should've said - It was booked as a late saver on grade PC (slightly higher priced inside cabin) allocated A339 and A440 for my kids!! Not next door but behind each other although they are aged 17 & 20 so it won't be a problem.

Looks like the cabin in more midship which is good.

    Thanks all

  11. Hi all

So the day after my panic our cabins have been allocated. Next question is what do the letters mean?

We booked a PC grade but been allocated a PB grade - Is that better and if so how is it better or worse?

They go from PA to PF

Whats the difference? In laymans terms please
