We do this too but with sugar cones. What's cool is the Keebler brand we buy pack the cones in styro sleeves inside the box and they always arrive in good shape when unpacked from our luggage. Those tasteless cones provided on the ships are merely ice cream holders rather than a taste treat.

Yep! The Waffle cones come in the exact same kind of foam packaging. Packed them away in the suitcase, and all 12 of them made it safe and sound all the way from Arkansas to on the boat!

  2. One of my favorite is taking a box of waffle cones with us on the boat. We've done it twice now, and both times got lots of asks "Where do you get those?" I just tell them "Walmart", and keep going (LOL). Heck, I even had our favorite CD Malcolm stop us while we walked through the Lido deck to ask. Of course both times we had a few left over on the last night and so we find a group of kids hanging out near the ice cream machines and share the fun 🙂

  3. Hello everyone! I guess now that the Cruise bug has bit me, I should go ahead and start posting and not just lurking 🙂

My wife and I have sailed on the Legend, Freedom, and Conquest, and now have a May 11 trip planned on the Magic in a Junior Suite. I have heard some great things about this ship, and am really hoping our favorite cruise director (Malcom) will be on it as well. As for my questions for those who have sailed recently on the Magic:

    1. Do all of the cabins have the new-fangled power switch at the door to control the power in the room (requires a card)?

    2. I read a review on here about the Punchliner on Magic requiring "tickets". Is that true, or is it first-come-first-serve like the other ships we've been on?

    3. I noticed they have a pool table on board (AWESOME)! Is there a charge? Do they hold any tournaments?

That's all for now - I am CERTAIN i will be posting some more, plus doing what I can to contribute to some of the "answering" too 🙂

    Thanks in advance!

  4. that musical entertainment on the Conquest ... how to put this nicely?... uh, needs work,

Oh boy, my wife and I just came off the Conquest a week ago. No offense to those who are trying real hard, but a couple of the singers were decent, but a couple really need some work. Let's just say those who cannot sing on pitch should not be given the loudest microphones.

  5. My family will be enjoying the Carnival Freedom on Spring Break, and my son asked me tonight, "So can I hang my hammock on the balcony?" I of course told him I had not thought about that, but I bet him that SOMEONE would have tried it, figured it out, AND posted pics of it on Cruisecritic. Lo and behold, I was RIGHT. Bad news is I cannot see the pic that was attached to this post, something about 3rd party hosting or such. So does someone have this pic (or pics) of hanging a hammock on a side (not aft) balcony specifically on the Freedom? Thanks in advance!

Here's a picture from the Freedom. On other classes it's not as easy to tie off the hammock as it is on Oasis class. Note the "C" clamp that I attached to the steel beam so that I could use that to tie off the hammock.
