We will be first time visitors to Singapore where will will spend 3 nights before going on a cruise that leaves from the Harbor Front terminal. We will be using points(we are Hilton gold members), which are the same for both places. I am trying to decide which place is the best to stay in for sightseeing, food, and ease of shuttle service from the airport and transportation to the cruise terminal. Any input is appreciated.

I used to drink the Indonesian tea in a silk bag that was suppose to help with motion sickness. I do not think that Hal has it in the public areas so was hoping to pick some up when we are in Indonesia. Does anyone know the name of this tea?

I was notified by my on line booking agent. They forwarded me an intinerart change notification from Hal.

Thank you everyone for your insight!

Does anyone know why HAL would cancel an Alaska Port 10 months in advance and blame it on operational reasons? We were scheduled to stop in Dutch Harbor Alaska on our May cruise from Japan to Vancouver. Instead of substituting another port, they are giving us a few extra hours at some ports in Japan and increasing our number of sea days to 6 straight.

Really have enjoyed following your travels on this world cruise. We hope to take a world cruise in the near future. A ways back, you went on a safari in India. As we used your TA for our African safari, I was wondering if you used the same one for arranging the safari in India.

Sorry your cruise was such a disappointment. We just got off the Rotterdam at the end of Dec.after being on an 83 day cruise. It was our best cruise ever with the best food and staff in the main dining room. Hard to believe things would go down hill in 2 months! Of course, a strong sewer smell could ruin the appeal of any meal.

Thank you for the update.

We are boarding the Rotterdam on Sept. 28 for an 83 day cruise...do you know if piano man Bob will be on that cruise? Thanks

I have always thought that especially when the ship is in code red and they take the breadbasket, salt and pepper off the table, they should not use the same menus...another source of contamination.

Thanks for all the responses. We were not past final payment, but had paid for the cruise. I think our category C is pretty much sold out, so HAL is not discounting it as much as other categories.

Does it make a difference on who you book your cruise with to get a price adjustment? In addition, are all price adjustments equal depending on who you book with? I made my original booking on board ship and then turned over the booking to my regular on line TA. On my upcoming 83 day cruise round Africa, several people are posting their discounts. MY TA only got a very minimal adjustment from HAL for us. Is this typical? Should I book my next cruise thru a different travel agentry? Do you think Hal deals differently with different Travel agencies?

Your daily blog has been like my daily newspaper, except 10x more informative! Thank you for all the great insights!

We really enjoyed your posting on your safari. we leave this fall for the Rotterdam's voyage around Africa. Your safari sounds like something we would really enjoy. Could you email me on a contact person for this tour and what camp you stayed at? mrfranssen@cox.net

Hi Roy,
I am really enjoying your posts…we will be boarding the Prinsendam when you return for the 68 day voyage around SA…you are giving us a heads up on what to expect on part of it…in addition, I am enjoying your parting shots immensely!

I guess I am not surprised by HAL's change of policy,..however, I am upset that I have not been notified by HAL and I have 2 cruises booked and paid for, one in Aug and one in Jan. HAL has offered new bookings for 2014 an EXplore 4 package which I think they should apply to all who have already booked their reservations prior to this change of policy. It really sounds as if HAL is strictly going to reinforce this policy...now, if they would enforce their dress code as strictly, I might be impressed!
Hotel suggestions for Singapore?

For my dates(end of Feb.), it would be 60,00 per night at either place.
