  1. MoBay is Eastern Time Zone, NOLA and the ship are on Central time. However, in May NOLA will be on daylight savings time while MoBay will not. Therefore (I think) the times will be the same.

Jamaica is Eastern Standard Time but they do not observe daylight savings time so after March 14th Jamaica will be the same as Central Time until we change the clocks again in the fall. Yes, Jamaica is in the Eastern time zone but do not enact any daylight savings time adjustments

I'm sure he recommends putting your trays in the hall in front of your own door, not in front of someone else's door.   this is standard hotel procedure.  I put my own tray in front of my own door, not in front of someone else's door.

Don't you trip over it when you walk into and out of your stateroom? I generally put mine off to the side.

I KNOW!!!!! at first, I thought maybe it was an accident, or perhaps the steward was cleaning rooms and pushing trays along or something, but it kept happening ...almost every day throughout my very 1st 7 night cruise. I never found out who did it...it also happened on subsequent cruises as well, so it wasn't just a bad traveler.  there are people who actually DO this. I would never do it.  I don't get it.  it's not like they have to pay someone to take their tray away....

    Umm, actually. . .

Carnival recommends that you put the trays in the hall when you're finished eating, to facilitate the take away.

John Heald has posted this numerous times on his social media page.

For years now, it has been that bottom line that sets Carnival apart. It is generally the best priced option. For many, that is critical. That is why, if you find a similar cruise offered by a rival company at a competitive price (after adding in all your extras), book it, it's a good price.

Totally agree. We have cruises out of NOLA seven times. Each time we priced NCL and found them to be significantly more expensive than CCL, and found nothing of value to justify the extra cost. Thus we have seven CCL cruises out of NOLA.

However, when we were looking at Alaskan cruises we found one on Celebrity that (after $350 OBC) was only a few dollars more than Carnival, but appeared to have more amenities and a favorable itinerary. Thus we are booked on Celebrity for next May.

  5. Just saw on a social network page that the Tandoor Grill is being transformed into a Seafood Shack on the Dream. I never heard that this was even planned, can anyone verify this? For those who have tried it, is it good, worth the cost?

We sail on the Dream November 25.

Depends on what channel it is on. When I was on Victory in September, any games that were on the major networks were not shown. The only games they showed were ones on ESPN and FS1.

LSU-Alabama is on CBS, which doesn't bode well for OP if what you say is accurate.

    GEAUX TIGERS!

  7. I know that if you own 100 shares of CCL, you get a OBC on your cruise.

Is it per cruise and what are the amounts per cruise? Can you get 2 credits for a back to back or just one? Tell me all you know.

In my experience the benefit is per cruise. I would imagine a back-to-back is considered two cruises.

See amounts and further details in the flyer.

  8. From Carnival's FAQ:

In preparation for departure, all guests must be on board the ship no later than 60 minutes prior to the published sailing time (printed in the cruise documents) or they will not be permitted to sail.

So for a 4:00 departure you should be on board for 3pm. I would be at the terminal no later than 2, 2:30.

  9. Celebrity Cruise Lines offers nonalcoholic drink package at several levels. The highest level costs $22 per day, includes soft drinks, premium coffees, milkshakes, energy drinks, virgin cocktails, premium bottled waters, and more. I would LOVE for Carnival to offer something similar.

  10. Would you pay $100 to enter a restaurant and then another $38 per person to eat there?

Are you sayjng that a single MDR meal (which is all you forego as an opportunity cost) is worth $100? I'd say more like $16.95, which makes the total cost of the steakhouse meal under $55.

  11. You being new to cruising, I just wanted to explain that FTTF isn't just about boarding the ship early. It's about getting in to your cabin early, getting your luggage earlier, not having to stand in long lines at Guest Services (such a waste of time), and BEST OF ALL, not having to wait hours for a tender if you are in a tender port (like Cabo). Lots of benefits to FTTF.

I’m not exactly new to cruising as I’ve been on seven with three more booked. I know what FTTF offers. We sail out of NOLA, and board immediately after FTTF, always on board before noon. We have small rolling carryons that we easily hold onto while we eat on Lido until room is ready at 1:30. Luggage has always been delivered well before dinner. Rarely use guest services but when we need them we go early in the day when lines are nonexistent. Tenders have never been a problem or much of a line. Self assist debarkation gets us to our car by 8:30.

  12. Yes, you are completely entitled to give your opinion. You totally missed my point though. What I was referring to is the posters that say that you shouldn't buy it because it's not worth it. To them, maybe it isn't but to others, it is. Just as you said "useful things", to some, FTTF is useful.

We tried the steakhouse and wasn't that impressed with it. That doesn't mean that nobody should go there because we didn't feel it was worth it. There's a big difference between giving your opinion and forcing your opinion on others.

You apparently missed my point as well . One poster outlined his experiences with FTTF, I detailed mine without. Not to force my opinion on others but to give the other viewpoint to someone else trying to make a decision to buy it or not. I never told anyone not to buy it because it’s “not worth it,” just offered my opinion that it’s “not worth it” to me, and why.

In matters of the steakhouse you are certainly equally welcome to detail your unfavorable experience so that people making that choice can consider that as well. That’s how discussion boards work. No value is gained by having only concurrence.

  13. What I will never understand is how you spend your money is any concern of anyone else. To a lot of people, FTTF is worth every penny. You rarely see anyone telling people not to spend money in the casino, play bingo, buy gold by the inch, go to the steakhouse, etc. You never see anyone saying don't book an inside cabin on deck 6 because it costs more than an inside cabin on deck 5 and the view is the same for both cabins. It's your money. Spend it the way you like.

I really care not how others spend their money, but since this allegedly is a discussion forum I am allowed to express my opinion on the subject as well. Sorry it doesn’t agree with yours, but that’s what makes the world go round.
