  1. I just use my regular notes on IOS. You can insert photos and links and use voice commands. I do a bulleted or numbered note for each day.

If you have your icloud synced, the notes go directly to your IMac desktop, phone and laptop no matter where you start the note.

  2. There are packages available once on the ship in the YC. The 20 item is $30 and the 40 item is $50. You can also send things away individually but it's quite expensive. The online appears to give you a $10 break.

And....we are also in the YC on this cruise!

  3. Husband and I wish to do a Cape Horn South American Cruise that includes Lima and Machu Picchu. I am looking for late 2019 or early 2020. How can I find something that far in advance? I found the itinerary on Oceania but it's for this coming February and March. Is it possible to book farther out for cruises? Thanks for any insight!

Edited to add: We aren't partial to Oceania, it's just the itinerary we found. We are open to any cruises line as long as it includes the Cape and Lima.

  4. As much as would like to completely disconnect on vacation, for me, it just isn't feasible. We have very elderly parents, kids and grandkids that we would want them to be able to get ahold of us in an emergency.

On our last cruise in September, my brother was gravely ill in the hospital. I needed to be available. Unfortunately, he died the day after we got home.

  5. Does the package that includes a massage, facial and Thermal Spa Daily pass for $124 include a Thermal Spa pass for the length of the cruise or for just one day? If it matters, this question is for the Divina 11 day cruise out of Miami.

Not sure if it matters to you or not, but the Divina thermal spa is not co-ed. So, if you want to go in with your spouse, you can't.

  6. Would anyone by chance have an updated spa menu for the Divina. Getting ready to do a 23 day Grand Voyage and want to know how much of a savings it is to pre-purchase. They seem a little high to purchase in advance. We were on her last summer and the pre-purchase are higher on this cruise than on board last year.

Does anyone know if the prices are higher because it's a grand voyage?

    TIA!

  7. I was on the Divina two weeks ago, buying the laundry package was the best decision! We traveled from the states to the Mediterranean with only carryons!

We bought the 40 piece package and sent clothes each day. Besides what we were wearing everything was always clean. You have to have it ready before 10 am and it was on our bed the next day when we got back to the ship anywhere between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. You have the choice of folded or hung on hangers. Items were washed and ironed. Everything was returned perfectly and ready to wear.

So, you don't have to send it all it at the same time? Maybe 10 pieces one day and 10 on another day? We are doing the Mediterranean to Miami this fall!

  8. This was just posted today on MCS's website:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the population of the Caribbean islands impacted by Hurricanes Maria and Irma. As the islands affected by the storms recover, MSC Divina will be replacing her Eastern Caribbean itineraries for September 30, October 14 and October 28 with a Western Caribbean itinerary, calling at Montego Bay (Jamaica), Georgetown (Cayman Islands), Costa Maya (Mexico) and Nassau (Bahamas).

We are in close contact with the islands impacted by the storm, and will resume our Eastern Caribbean itineraries as soon as circumstances allow. Please continue to monitor our web site for further updates, including November sail dates.

For the Sept. 30, October 14 and October 28 sail dates, guests who choose to cancel their cruise may do so and receive a Future Cruise Credit for the penalty amount to be used on the stateroom fare for a future MSC Cruises sailing within 2 years, excluding sailing dates during Christmas and New year’s, and itineraries to China and Cuba. (Please CLICK HERE to view our Cancellation Policy and penalty chart under “Cancellations and Changes By Passenger.” Refunds will be processed within 21 business days. Please contact our call center at 1-844-310-9511 in order to confirm your cancellation.

This Future Cruise Credit for the penalty amount can be applied on regular cruise-only fares off the regular promotion at the time of booking. It can be applied to cruises for any number of nights, with few exceptions: this voucher is not valid on MSC World Cruise, sailing dates during Christmas and New Year’s, and itineraries to China and Cuba. It does not have any cash value and is neither transferable nor refundable. It can be combined with MSC Voyagers Club Membership and Civil Service and Military Discounts.

  11. Out of 13 cruises we have had a few bad standouts.

The absolutely worst was on the Costa Mediterranea in 2007 sailing the Greek Isles out of Venice. The food was inedible, everyone was so rude, there had to have been 1,000’s of kids, most unsupervised. The tours were a disaster and there was a clear bias against Americans. The ports of call were amazing but I can’t believe how Costa can stay in business.

We were on the Carnival Glory when it was brand new. It was the first time sailing in a suite. It was a splurge as my husband was being deployed the next month.

We no sooner got out to sea and we had major mechanical problems. The ship ending up going no where. We limped around in a circle barely moving for 7 nights. We were so disappointed. The only port of call we limped into was Freeport Bahamas. Not even worth getting off the ship. We were heading down to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Carnival did nothing for us, the people on board were like an angry mob and everyone had cabin fever by the end of the week.

BEST was a Windstar in a suite sailing the French Riveria. Everything was amazing! We were treated like royalty, every person on the ship knew our name on the first day, food was fantastic and the ports of call were so luxurious because we got to go to smaller ports because of the small size of the ship.

  12. For excursions, sometimes we take a ship planned one and sometimes we do it ourselves. Depends on what is offered and what we are interested in. I am going on the same cruise at the end of September and I've looked at the excursions offered by MSC and I was pleasantly surprised at what they offered and I thought their pricing was really reasonable.

You can also search this forum under ports of call to get more information on the ports and things to do or go to tripadvisor and search the forum there also.

Sometimes there are tour operators as you get off the ship and we've just walked off and hired someone for a tour.

With all that being said, if you are nervous about doing something on your own, then go through MSC. The ship won't leave without you if they are running late.

We took a day long excursion in a speed boat in Puerto Vallarta last year but got caught in a storm on the water. It was terrifying and we were late getting back but the ship waited for us. We were no sooner up the gangway when they literally shut the door behind us and left port! We would have missed our ship 100% if we hadn't been on their excursion.
