Also completely agree. Took the Viking, Grand European River Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. Absolutely fabulous! Another aspect I really liked was having two different tour groups at each stop. One, for those in good health like myself, who can hike right along and see more, and a very thoughtful idea of a group for those with less ability to ambulate who simply needed much for time.

I had no idea they had two tours! That makes it much more feasible for my mom and I.

  2. We bought some last fall in Amsterdam from the flower market and we just looked for ones that have a sticker that says it's okay to bring into the US. We put them in our luggage when we disembarked in Ft. Lauderdale and the dogs found them so we got pulled aside. It wasn't a big deal - except we felt guilty! - but they just looked them up. I think I'd carry them off next time.

In the past, I found the V-2go site is good for printing my itineraries. It has lines I can keep when I paste and I can add items like excursion contacts, etc.

I do the same thing - paste it into a Word document and then add a column for notes on the various ports.

What was your day like...did you do an excursion?

Yes, we did a tour called 'Helsinki by land and sea'. There were 4 busses for this tour. It was raining here at the pier, but stopped by the time we boarded the ferry type boat for the 90 minute ride around the bay. Saw a bunch of neat buildings on these small islands. Upon docking we had 30 minutes to explore the market and then it was back in the bus to continue the tour. We stopped a couple of times for short times.  It was very well done.

  5. We were on the Eurodam on the June 24th cruise to Alaska and we really enjoyed it. We've been on lots of the ships over the years and this ship has become a new favorite. We found it easy to navigate and just a nice size. We came home and booked a cruise on it through the Panama Canal next spring!

We found the Pinnacle grill lacking for dinner service, but enjoyed a lunch there. Tamarind was wonderful and the MDR was very good as well. We didn't use the Lido much, but did like the Dive In.

We are looking at this cabin for a European cruise next summer for a family of 4.  I have seen some pictures and it does not look like there is a bed in the ceiling. Is that correct?

I don't know if that deck/room has space for 4. There was a small loveseat that might have made into a bed for one other person. I didn't notice the one in the ceiling, but when I look at the deck plan it says there is one there. On Holland, they really are flat into the ceiling and hard to see. 🙂
