  1. Will keep a watch out on an development of the Bayonne Ferry.

Lower Manhattan and Midtown are some of the areas we are interested in. Maybe HOHO bus would be a good idea.

We figure we will see the Statue of Liberty on the Ferry trip.

Looking more towards LGA flights as there are more to Miami and if we don’t go to late - not such a bad price. What do you think of my way of getting to LGA is that reasonable- hate being stuck in traffic wondering if we are going to make it.

  2. I'm assuming you're coming in on Adventure. Adventure is new to Cape Liberty this season and there is no experience yet with her arrival times and disembarkation timings. What exact date would you be doing this? How many people are you?

Could you manage your luggage on accessible public transit like a train?

Don't make any plane reservations until you decide how you want to spend your day. There are 3 airports in NYC and you need to pick the best one for your plans. You have to figure flight, transportation costs, and travel times before booking.

The first option is to find out whether your cruise will offer a New York tour with airport drop off. Newark Airport is the closest airport to Cape Liberty. This could be your easiest and most economical choice.

You aren't going to have as much time as you think. Even if Adventure docks early, you have the issue of getting into NYC during the morning rush hour and luggage storage. Figure about $100+ for a car service to Schwartz Travel on W 37th St in Manhattan to store luggage arriving about 10 am. On a Friday afternoon you also have the issue of rush hour traffic to get to the airport in the afternoon. For a 6 pm domestic flight you'd have to leave no later than 2:30-3 pm depending on the airport.

    That’s very helpful information.

Our ship gets in on 27th Sept.

There is just the 2 of us and able body to manoeuvre luggage.

Thought about getting either a taxi or Uber to St George Ferry terminal and catching the Straten Island ferry. Pick up a taxi after the ferry to store our luggage. Then about 2.00 pick up luggage and catch ferry from Peir 11 Wall St to Astonia and then get an Uber from there to LGA.

Does that sound doable or is there flaws in this idea. I know we won’t have long to look around but we are good walkers.

  3. Hi we are Aussies cruising into Port Liberty on a Friday in Sept 2019.

We need to fly to Miami later that afternoon. We would like to have a bit of a look around NYC.

If our flight is at 6pm what time would we need to leave NYC?

What is the best way, with luggage to get to NYC from Port Liberty.

What are the ‘do not miss’ sights that are doable in one day?

Which airport would you suggest we fly out of to go to Miami?

    Any help would be great?

  4. Hi Karen,

We are the other Aussie on this cruise. Also starting to look at what flights might be available, and from what airport and how long it takes to get there.

We need to fly to Miami the afternoon of disembark to pick up a cruise the next day. Having never been to NYC, where thinking of having a few hours there to look around then fly later in the afternoon. Thankfully ours is only a 3 hr flight.

We need to work out how to get into NYC and how long we will need to get to the airport in the afternoon ?

  5. Hi - haven’t written for a while. Had a great cruise to NZ in mid April and did really well with my eating. My drinking - not so good. But overall not to bad.

Then came the Christmas celebrations and I certainly over indulged. So back on track again now as also back at work (which helps me stay in routine). The first few days are hard, but getting back into cooking LCHF.

We have a cruise booked for mid August Vancouver to Alaska on Celebrity Millennium, so want to drop about 2 inches of my waist before then.

Eggs will become my best friends again.

Hope you all had a blessed Christmas and a Joyous New Year. Now it time to get back to Low Carb. Who’s with me?

  6. Now that I have lost 95 POF and still want another 30 gone I will stick with LCHF - this is a lifetime change for me - no looking back! PLUS I feel so dog gone good! :D

I love reading your posts, and how well you are doing.

Do you think it is going to be difficult on the cruise to stay LCHF? Any advise you can give me, would be appreciated.

I have about 10kgs left to loose and it's coming off supper slow. Only lost 1.5kg this month. But at least it's a loss. Have decided to only weigh monthly now as the scales were going up and down to much.

I am concerned about our cruise in November as I don't want to undo all my hard work.

  7. Wow, just bought a new formal dress to wear on next cruise for formal night (long red halter neck) in size 14. It's a little tight but am going to loose more weight before cruise in November, so should look great.

  8. Starting my first egg fast today. Hoping to drop of about 2kg. So it's a 2 egg omelet for breakfast and egg salad for lunch. Haven't decided about dinner.

Hoping to keep it going for 4 days.

  9. What is it?

Egg fast is basically eating eggs - around 10 to 12 a day. You need to have 1 tablespoons fat for each egg and up to 100g - 4 oz of cheese. There is heaps of ideas on the internet. You do it for 3 - 5 days. Plus you need to drink heaps of water.

  10. I have tried heaps of different 'diets' LCHF is the only one that has worked and that I can keep doing for a long time- woe as a life style. I never feel hungry. It does take a bit of planning. But the food is delicious.

I just made fathead pizza for dinner. Fantastic- ate 1/2, got the other 1/2 for dinner tomorrow. Also crust less quiche for lunch tomorrow.

  11. Still going good - don't weigh myself but my cloths aren't as tight as they use to be. It's only been 3 weeks with my new WOE.

Plan to keep this going till my cruise in 6 months time. I loose slowly, but might try an egg fast in a couple of weeks while my husband is away for work.

  12. There are many variations. Anything from 100% clean eating to get whatever fits in your macros. Personally, if a diet come is going to satisfy my sweet tooth and keep me from eating a cupcake, I'd do it on occasion. Artificial sweeteners give me headaches if it's a regular thing so I usually steer clear. But you'll find what works for you! Zevia is a brand that makes soda with Stevia. Most are pretty good!
