  1. I went on a Princess British Isles cruise a few years back and they brought a Beatles cover band onboard in Liverpool and bagpipers in Scotland. On a Celebrity Baltic cruise they brought Russian dancers onboard. These types of local things made the cruises feel special and grounded in the places we were visiting so I’m really hoping they weren’t budget cut post-Covid (at least on the longer European sailings)
  2. I'm curious to know if Princess Cruises still tries to showcase the unique aspects of different ports of call through their onboard offerings. In the past, cruise lines would feature port-themed entertainment, such as folk dancers, and offer local souvenirs on board. Additionally, they used to incorporate local foods in their menus and buffets. Does Princess still do this after the restart? I'm taking a Mediterranean cruise this summer and would love to see some local touches incorporated in the voyage.
  3. Any word on whether Starlink will be added during dry dock? There have been lots of complaints about Enchanted’s Wi-Fi recently so hopefully this is something they’re planning to address.
  4. Rudi Sodamin, Princess' head of culinary arts, opened a seafood restaurant on Holland America's Koningsdam called Sel de Mer. The fish was really fresh and it was one of the more memorable meals on our cruise. Hopefully the Catch by Rudi concept is similar!
  5. I am in the process of checking in to my cruise and have the option to select my medallion. I could go with the standard medallion (gold in my case), but I like a couple of the customized options too. If the customization is a cheap sticker or something that will start to peel at the edges after a few days of use, I probably wouldn't be interested. If it looks nice, I'll probably go with one of the custom designs. For anyone who has gotten a custom medallion before: are they of good quality? Is there anything other than quality to be aware of (e.g., having to pick it up in port)?
  6. It sounds like Princess is pretty good about creating a good experience for everyone, especially on itineraries where there are a lot of people on longer journeys. Our 14-nighter is sold out (both 7-nighters are still available), so hopefully that encourages them to use the different menus/vary the entertainment!
  7. My family and I booked a 14-night Mediterranean cruise for this summer, which we later discovered was essentially two back-to-back 7-night cruises. I've previously enjoyed 12-night Princess cruises and 14-night Celebrity cruises, appreciating the extra attention to detail on longer voyages. Since this will be our first time on a longer cruise without a ship-wide beginning and end, I'm curious about the overall quality of the experience. 1. A few questions for discussion: Does the overall vibe of the cruise change due to Princess' sales tactic? For example, I'm used to everyone sharing the excitement at sail away, but I imagine this might not be the case on a cruise sold in 7-night segments. 2. Do things become repetitive or boring? I assume MDR menus and entertainment lineups are repeated. Does Princess make an effort to vary the experience for passengers like us, such as bringing in guest entertainers related to the ports of call? 3. Does Princess scale back "day 1" activities (e.g., welcome aboard announcements, spa tours) when many passengers are staying on the ship, or should we expect to see these twice? I'm hoping it's still a fantastic experience and look forward to hearing your thoughts!
  8. I’d be curious about whether there is one behind the bed as well
