  1. We are sailing on the Bliss in June. I booked dinner reservations for 10 on the "at sea" evenings at 5:30 in the Manhattan room. I received email confirmations for the reservations but if I go to my Vacation Summary on the NCL site, the reservations do not show up.

It's messed up because it doesn't say "There are currently no booked activities for this day of your vacation" like it does on some days but it's blank. So am I safe to assume the reservations are good and it's just a glitch because I have the email confirmation? Anyone else experience this? Thanks!

  2. I've got some questions about trip insurance that I haven't been able to solve by reading through old threads. Hoping I'd get some helpful answers here.

We are a family of 5 traveling to Alaska. My budget puts us right around $10,000 for the trip but because of the way the cruise fares divide my portion and my husbands is $2500 while the kids are around $1500. If I insure for a $10,000 value it will only payout $2000 per person if we had our trip canceled for a covered reason? So I really need to insure my trip for more?

    Other complications:

My children and I are leaving two days before my husband. So I need to purchase two sets of insurance? Looks like it will cost a bit more but not significantly.

One of our kids will be rooming with my parents who are also on the trip. I believe they purchased insurance directly from NCL. Should this affect what I buy?

Thanks so much for any advice! I've never purchased insurance for a trip before and I appreciate this forum for all the great info that's shared!

  3. I'm on Bliss -- 103 days out and I've been able to book dining reservations. The system is super glitchy and giving errors. But apparently those were all added to my cart so now I have too many reservations. I've only booked for the "Complimentary" (manhattan and taste) dining rooms. Not doing any specialty dining but we have a large group so I wanted to have something.

  4. I wonder how much of the increase is vendor driven and how much is added by the cruise lines? We are planning our trip for June. I've read a lot of comments in the past that cruise ship excursions aren't typically marked up that much vs. the vendor prices. That does not to seem to be the case this year in what I've researched.

For example, the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari is $329 pp thru NCL. Booked privately it's $219! Unfortunately, the private tours are already sold out for our dates and there is no way I'm paying $500 more for the same excursion thru NCL so we booked with Dyea Dave and added the train. Even the train tickets are hard to book privately and there's a thread in the Alaska board about some days already sold out.

  5. I assume it's because there aren't any cruises left in alaska for 2017 and the excursions haven't been released for 2018. We are also traveling on the bliss in June 2018 and I discovered the same thing yesterday.

It would be nice to still be able to read about the excursions. Maybe there's a trick someone can suggest?
