  1. They might have had the noro virus on board and they need to do a complete cleaning upon debarkation. We were on the Escape in October and we were notified that embarkation wouldn't start until 1:00 instead of 11:00 because of that.

  2. Le Muse menu changes each day - there are some items that are on the menu every day for instance the tenderloin was on every day of the week

From what I understand they have the same items as the MDR - If not though I can't imagine them telling you no - I know I wanted something they served the night before on one of the evenings and the head guy tried his hardest to get it for me they just did not have any left so it was not possible

Thank you for the info. That's one thing I didn't like the Haven restaurant. Their menu stayed the same, so we seem grateful we had the specialty pkg.

  3. Thank you to all. It sounds like we might be trying the Divina. The prices seem so much more reasonable than the Haven pricing. Seems like you get get the larger cabin for less or at least the same on MSC. Glad to hear that they're not too stringent on the dress code. Hubby likes to wear the slacks and collared shirts to dinner.

  4. Husband and I (both 68) sailed on the Escape Haven in Oct. we loved it but would like to try another ship. Looking at the Oct 21 2017 sailing of the Divina Yacht Club. Are they similar? We were in a Spa suite but didn't need the in-room tub except to lay out clothes to dry. We liked the relaxed dress code on NCL, but still dress appropriately. If we have to dress up in jacket for my husband, it might be a deal breaker against the Divina. What cabin would be good? Sorry for all the questions. We have sailed about 6 times over the years on very different ships. Husband decided he really likes the suite life especially because of the suite designated restaurant.

  5. We were in the Bahamas on Oct 28th when we were on our cruise. We did a Segway excursion that took us to Junkanoo Beach which is just outside of town. We said that if we ever vacation in Nassau we'd definitely go there. It has ok restrooms, cleaner than I expected. There's a nice hut-like restaurant that was really hopping. The water seemed very nice. You could see the port to the right.

  6. My husband and I were on the Oct 22nd sailing of the Escape. I surprised my husband with upgrading to A Haven Spa Suite. It took me 10 years since our last cruise to get my husband to cruise again. Before this we had cruised 5 times, 2 on NCL, 1 on Celebrity, 1 on Holland America and 1 on Princess. All of these cruises were good. However, my husband told me that I spoiled him and he won't cruise again unless it's in a suite. We are definitely not affluent. We didn't use the Haven Courtyard or pool very much. It was the extra things like the bed, the shower and the size of the bathroom that made the difference. We did venture out to the rest of the ship and found all of the staff polite and cheerful. However, the lines to get into places like O'Sheehans and the MDRs were looong. That's when we said "let's go up to the Haven". The best feature of the Haven is the special embarkation and debarkation, especially at ports for excursions. We used our butler once for in-room breakfast on our 7:00 excursion day. So now if I ever want to cruise again in my lifetime (we're 68) I have to find the equivalent of the Haven. By search begins.

  7. My husband and I also just got home from the Oct 22nd sailing. We didn't see anyone that was sick to the the point of vomiting. We even remarked jokingly that you can tell people were feeling OK because the lines at the buffet and O'Sheehans were so long. We did notice that on Thursday after the high waves and rocking of the ship all day and night, some people were feeling a little queasy. I don't discount any ones illnesses, but I have worked in the microbiology field and thought it took more than 2 days to manifest Noro. Hope all are feeing better.

  8. We'll be on the Escape the week of Oct 22. We have cruised 5 times before, but never did an excursion as such. We'll be doing the Kayak tour and snorkel in St. Thomas, Radical Rides in Tortola and Segway Experience in the Bahamas. My question is what do you do with your gear and towels on these since you end up on the beach. We have a wet bag that will hold this stuff. Do you as individuals take your gear on the kayaks etc? Or do they have follow boats that carry this stuff? The only excursion we did do was in Curaçao and that was simply a snorkel trip and of course we just took our belongings with us. Even though we have cruised before, I feel like such a newbie.

  9. I read here on CC that NCL sends out luggage tags and a concierge letter to Haven guests. We sail on Oct 22 and since the Haven is going to be a surprise for my DH I want to know what this letter and tags envelope will look like. Is it a large flat envelope or just a regular envelope? I have already printed the tags off the EDocs but I heard Ncl sends out some that are a little more special.

  10. Oh my! Now I might rethink. By the time it comes to purchasing THE passes, DH's surprise will be had and he may have the last voice as to weather we spend the extra money. He'll still be recovering from the amount spent for The Haven. I wish they could be bought on line. That way I could put them on my "secret" credit card to hide the Haven purchase. Married 47 years and I've never been this sneaky.

  11. Just a word of warning regarding 2 pieces. A few years back we went to Maho Beach. DH and DSs were out kind of far. I wanted to get in but didn't want to get my hair wet. They told me I needed to be out further because the waves were breaking close to shore. I didn't listen.

All I remember is opening my eyes underwater and seeing greenish blue water. My feet were up in the air and I did a somersault.

Then I was pushed up onshore head first on my stomach. Another wave came to finish me off. Up further on the beach I went getting a free exfoliation along the way. My top was down but I was covered head to toe in sticky sand. Now picture a blind, drowned rat clawing their way up the beach to safety. Yep that was me. All I could hear was loud roaring laughter coming from the sea. I realized what happened and managed to pull my top up, flip over, and get the sand and salt water out of my eyes.

Pretty sure I yelled some expletives at the 3 males who were almost drowning themselves because they were laughing so hard at me. I sat on my towel thankful to be alive. Good times. Good times.

  12. We are on the Escape on Oct 22. My husband has not engaged me with planning or any other aspects of the cruise because he says it's too far off. HOWEVER, he has asked me if and where he'll be able to have his after-dinner cigar and rum. He doesn't know we're staying in the Haven, but at least I know he'll have a place to go.
