Continuing around Whittier.

School and payground behind Begich.

Also had a bowl of bread pudding- labelled blueberry but was actually raisin.

Took a 2 hr walk this afternoon to "the building" in Whittier, actually called Begich Tower. Meandered "downtown" to the general store/ museum, & the hotel/restaurant. Definitely a fishing town. It was warmer than I expected, had on way too many layers. I was boiling when I got back. This was my solution:

Talking with one of the bar servers, there will be several things done in the fall refit. Lots of new furniture; separating the coffee bar from the library, making the library enclosed. Also adding an aquarium tank for things like live lobster, to serve in the their Fresh Fish program. Adding heaters in the seaview pool area. Replacing several light fixtures. Removing the bar on deck 1. ( it isn't open now).

We docked early this a.m. in Whittier, where the majority are disembarking and heading for the land portion. Trains and busses waiting.

One lady I spoke with about the view said" it's a good thing we are here now and not the summer, because they would be half- melted"...oh dear..

We had about 2 hours to walk around the ship and enjoy the view. I found there was lots of space on the top deck and promenade to do so.
