  1. There might be a topic for this already, in that case please close this one down and let me know. I did not find one.

I do love to go see production shows during cruising, so there are two questions on my mind by this time for my cruise on Edge:

    1. At what times will production shows usually take place? Any indications yet?

    2. Theater reminds me very much of Two70 venue on RCCL. Problem was that Two70 is an always open area, so busy guests could be sure they would not get good seats because those were all long taken by people who had already spent hours back there. Will that be the same on Edge, or will Edge theater only open for events, shows, shore excursion waiting etc?

Maybe you guys are smarter than me and help me out on this?!

Topic may as well be used for everyone else´s theater related stuff.

  2. Oh well, it will only be three nights for me on 1st December.

Boarding day will be a total mess. It just has to be. Everybody wants to be the first person to see everything. Buffet restaurant will be a total mess in every aspect. For day 1, I shall be happy when I get my dinner, see a show and get to sleep somewhen late. I will be in 8100, that should be a quiet corner, even on 1st night.

Day 2 will surely be me making landfall somewhen in between all of the action. And I think there will be loooooads of action. A lot of festivities, music everywhere, people running into each other, a lot of fandom frenzy  :classic_laugh: . Days 1 and 2, I think, will be quite chaotic and thousands of AWESOMEs being shouted out. They will do everything to make us Edge Ambassadors.

Day 3 might be a little more relaxed and a classic cruise days, however still with megatons of action and events. I am specifically looking forward to that day.

Day 4... I want to wake up, finding me a 300 $ voucher for a future Edge cruise, and leave the ship crying in pain  :classic_love::classic_biggrin:

  3. A short while ago, one fellow board member (don´t remember who) put his foot down on me when I was telling doubts about how innovative Edge will actually be apart from its bling factor.

Now, after many reveals are out, I am hearing that Edge will still run on dirty fuel. No LNG, no sustainable fuel technology, nothing.

Edge runs on heavy oil and pollutes the environment just like ships from the last century.

Where is the innovation in that? My fanboy-ing is being slown down quite a lot just now.

  4. I always have been avoiding upselling products like specialty restaurants, spa etc. This tradition will not be changed on Edge, so after having completed the check in, there is nothing much else for me to prepare.

I might take a shore excursion, but that´s about it, I guess.

Not the kind of person to deep dive into things like pillow material, cabin size, furniture dimensions :halo: . Just wanna relax and admire the new ship.

  5. One should always keep in mind that announcements of new products are always implicating a good portion of marketing and propaganda in the first place.

In my short 47 years of life, I have come across many things that were announced as "revolutionary" or "epic" or "major change". Looking back, the only products who could catch up with that kind of announcement were computers, the Internet and smartphones. Maybe PlayStations etc.

EDGE will be no less and no more than evolution. It´s like once you started fine dining. When you have had a certain dish on top notch level for several times, you will reach a point where there is no "better". Just because "better" is not possible. That is where creativity sets in. That is where things like molecular kitchen come from or strange recipes that you would not have dreamt of.

That is where Celebrity stands now. And I guess that is what we will get - creative evolution.

  6. I wonder if and how some people can even begin to enjoy their holidays instead of overthinking everything.

I personally think, exteriorwise, this new ship is amongst the top 3 ugliest passenger ships I have noticed in my life. But do I actually care? Nope, cuz I will spend the absolute majority of my time inside - and the interior looks freakin awesome, from my personal point of taste. Now let the staff by incredibly friendly, polite, effective and personal. And let the food be great.

Then, this unbelievably ugly ship might become my favourite. No matter where the electrics box is located and which way the toilet paper needs to be rolled off.

Just go and enjoy your freakin holidays, folks. I heard in the US most of you do not have a lot of them. So, hands up, glasses up, cups up and party :cool::cool:

  7. I am amazed how good all that looks.

I know, numerous people do not agree with the extremely modern, sleek design, thinking it is over the top.

And yes, compared to the majority of the cruise ships, this is very, very, very contemporary.

But I love it. It makes you wanna dress up, dig out your best manners and smile and sip fine wine and dine in style.

I would go on a traditional cruise ship with lush, plush design, heavy carpets and dark woods any time and love it, too - when it fits.

For Celebrity Edge, THIS is what I wanted and expected.

Hope they don´t ruin it when on board.

  8. Since RCCL is now share holder of Silversea Cruises, I guess they will be my future cruises home once I am so old that I can´t stand hovering around buffet restaurants with 500 other people at 7 in the morning anymore :D

Oh well, back to topic :o

  9. I do not actually wanna mess with Celebrity admirers, but when I see the above post with the NCL show elements, I really have to say that what I saw on NCL Getaway in 2016 - was DA BOMB

That is valid not only for the main show we had (Million Dollar Quartet) which. by that time, had the most amazing cast I ever met on a cruise ship. But it is as well valid for the second production show which was Wine Lovers Musical. Hardly ever saw something as passionate and heart warming (and I say that as a 47 year old man) on any cruise ship including Equinox and Silhouette.

My NCL entertainment experience was really first class, and I hope EDGE can match or surpass that.

  10. I was just about to unpack a bit of my social justice warriors ammo, but then I saw the photos and agree... That does not even try to look high class. I do not think "girlie shows" are anti feminist in any case, but when it´s not classy and when it looks cheap, I would not wanna see it by any means.

"Exotic dancers" need to be absolutely high class and professionals with superb training to be called so - otherwise I´d call them "Erotic romancers" or something...

  11. If I should ever find anything X rated on an American upscale cruise ship, I won´t believe it, that´s for sure.

Any time here in Europe but never in the US

Oh well, now I remember that one time when I attended a late night adult comedy show by Michele Balan on Equinox which made 25 % of the audience leave the venue :') . That was fun.

    But something visual - I don´t think so :o

  12. Like mentioned in the other threat: I did like the concept of the 270 venue on AOTS, but if on EDGE it will also be an open space all day long like 270 on AOTS, then it will be a major disappointment to me.

On AOTS, I sometimes arrived in 270 about an hour before the show started, and already all the best seats were taken by people who were using 270, anyway. So, in the future on EDGE, best seats in the main enterrainment venue will be for people who like to sit in the same venue all night long?!

  13. Now this just is a big disappointment to me.

Reminds me very much of that one high tech venue on Anthem Of The Seas. It´s not that I do not like the concept itself, it´s how it was done on AOTS. The venue was an open space during the day, so many people just took the opportunity to sit in those seats for hours in order to have them blocked when a show comes up.

I am far for from being unexperienced when it comes to getting a great seat in a cruise ship´s main entertainment venue, but AOTS managed to ruin that experience for me big time. If EDGE should be same, I will really have to think about finding me a new favourite cruise line, cause MEV shows have always been big highlights to cruising for me.

  14. I am thinking the same way.

However, I found on my last cruises that nobody denied me to access a restaurant only because I had no reservation. I will never ever go back to RCCL for my overall experience on board AOTS - BUT one good thing were the two different main dining room lines for people with a reservation and one for people without. Yes, I had to wait 3-5 minutes, but then I was seated, Not the best tables, but I was seated.

I will be on Edge´s maiden voyage because those only four days are within my budget. But I do not see why I should go on her for the normal prices when I can catch me a Silversea or something like that for the same price and avoid being pushed around by 1000 people in the buffet restaurant each and every morning.

So, now we will have to make reservations months in advance for dinner? What a hassle!
