  1. P&O do not return the loyalty status for UK Princess cruisers either, I think they are missing a trick here as the fight for cruisers intensify with deals between all cruise companies.

Just one note though, MSC offers loyalty status match to all cruisers from all companies providing they can prove their status on another line, we have just completed this and received their highest black card level. This is available for people of all nations, so they see an opportunity to get more business!

  2. I contacted Princess a few weeks ago and transferred an Australian cruise booked for April 2016 to an Asian cruise in February 2016.

I was told that since last December the T&C's had changed and that if you change a cruise which is on a new promotion more than once it will incur a £100 admin fee.

This weekend the Asian cruise had up to £2000 per couple savings on flights, I telephoned Princess and although the flights had reduced in price I would have to pay £100 admin fee, apparently you have to cancel and rebook the new promotion and you may also loose some or all obc or any other benefits that you may have.

I was surprised with this change to their T&C's, not sure whether or not it is just UK so it will be interesting to hear from people around the world.

Also what happens if you book with a TA!

It seems a case of doing the sums.

  3. If you have a problem don't complain to cruise critic put your concerns to the people in charge on board when it happens [emoji848]

Give them a chance to put it right [emoji106]

  4. Thanks everyone. I suppose I just. feel a little silly for be so naive. To those of you who seem to think I'm just a winger -sorry to have bothered you. To everyone else- your suggestions have been greatly appreciated.

I called Princess UK today and was connected to a very nice young lady who told me they'd had lots of calls about this. She then went on to 're-book us into the same cabin at £750 less than we had originally paid !

That is excellent customer service. Still can't quite believe it !

    Brilliant news, well done :)

You are not a winger, silly or naïve, this is what this site is for, to help people, unfortunately you do get some people who can't see that, but I suppose that is the same for all forum sites.

We have all been there not knowing what to do next and unless you ask you won't find out if there is an answer!

Finally well done Princess for coming up with Great Customer Service :)

  5. Thank you for your responses.

Socceric9 - thanks for the lovely welcome to cruise critic - not! For your information I paid a lot for this holiday and it is probably a one off. We are not high earners and having a better price could have helped us with excursions etc.

We book direct with Princess and have had a price drop just last year after final payment.

Telephoned our Cruise Rep at Southampton and received a double upgrade from balcony to mini suite + $200 obc.

So whether or not you have booked Direct or with a TA it's always worth a phone call.

  6. I used to get motion sickness and take all sorts of pills to try and stop it.

About 4 years ago we were on a 30 day South America cruise, I got sick went back to the cabin took the tablets and lied on the bed. An American friend that we had met on the cruise phoned the cabin to explain that he had a Relief Band that I was welcome to try, he brought to me and within half hour I was in the Horizon Court having lunch.

On my return to the UK, I immediately bought one, it is the best £100 I have spent and is the 1st thing to be packed when we go on our travels and I never need the pills.

It is called 'RELIEF BAND' make sure that you get the blue one as you can replace the batteries. There is a company in the UK that sells them and ship to over 100 countries. http://www.outdoorgb.com

  7. I am the one who started this thread and I called my travel agent about the lower fare and she went on the phone to Princess while I was holding and came back to me and said that to try any rebooking would voind my w$360 free gratuities. So I said just leave it at that and princess said that if any free upgrads come along they will try to give it to me because I stated at booking that I would accept them.

At least you made the call.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  8. How many times have you cruised with Princess? It is false... You're giving wrong information.

Are you taking cruises longer than 4 days? Final payment for short cruises are 60 days from the sailing date. That may explain why.

Every one on this forum will tell you you're wrong and you're calculating something wrong.

Occasionally, exceptions are made but not often.

    .

    It's not totally false.

I book directly with Princess now, following problems with TAs when there have been price reductions whether or not it is before or after any price reductions. The TAs were always very reluctant to even try to get the reduction as it affects their commission.

With Princess I have a Personal Cruise Rep, he has always told me that if a price drop happens he will always adjust the price if before final payment, whether or not it is for New Bookings or not.

After final payment for example he has given us a double upgrade from balcony to mini suite plus additional $200 each obc

It is always worth a phone call whether or not you are with a TA or Princess Direct.

Alan Buckelew was promoted to COO of Carnival Corp in 2013.

Jan Swartz is now the President of Princess Cruises. Since the 2013 restructuring Princess no longer has its own CEO; Ms. Swartz reports to Stein Kruse, CEO of the Holland America Group (consisting of HAL, Princess, Seabourn, and all Alaska cruisetours) within the Carnival Corporate umbrella.

But as presumed above I am sure a query to jswartz@princess.com will be responded to worldwide

You learn something new everyday :) Cheers

  10. When we were on Royal Princess last month we didn't sign for any drinks except when we were in the MDR( we were not on AIBP) they just scanned the cruise card.

We didn't get a receipt and when I asked they said they no longer give them . I don't know what would happen if we were charged incorrectly without proof of the drinks we had.

I didnt really like this so I checked my account daily.

I don't know if this applies to other ships in the fleet or if it is something they are trying out on the Royal.

Same here, just off the Caribbean Princess 15th August, never had to sign for any drinks in the bars and we did not have AIBP.

We were told that it was new policy to help the waiters serve more people by cutting out signing for drinks, although you could get a receipt if you asked them for one, never had any problem with the account.

  11. Checking my terms and conditions....It would cost me £825 to cancel.

The cruise is now £500 cheaper than when I originally booked for the same cabin.

    I would gain $300 OBC.

I think I may just suck it up, stick with what I've got and chalk it down to experience. Hey - I'm going on a 2 week cruise - I shouldn't let the TA annoy me so much!!! I'll just NEVER book with them again....

    Probably a good idea.

We all learn by our experiences.

I have learned a lot since starting cruising in 2008, mostly from my mistakes, other cruisers and this site, because that is what it's for!

Sit back and "Carry On Cruising"

  12. I've read lots of threads about US guests switching from making the booking direct with Princess, over to a TA.

Is it possible to do this the other way around? I am having huge issues getting in touch with my TA (first time I have used this particular one and never again...!!) and would like to change the booking so it is direct with Princess.

Has anybody ever done this or is it not possible?

As it has been said first check for any penalties that you may have to pay your TA.

Give Princess at Southampton a call and ask them the question.

I stopped booking with TA's after having problems, so I book with Princess direct with FCC, any problems I phone them direct always get an answer.

I will be interested to how you get on.

  13. Just spoke to our Princess Cruise Rep in the UK - the cruise is definitely cancelled

They got notification this morning when they came into work, obviously email notifications went out prior to that.

I said to him that the cruise is still showing as live, he said that this will change soon.

Golden possibly going to Asia, not set in stone tho!

He also transferred our booking across to the Emerald 12th April 2017 Crossing to Los Angeles at the same price as now, including all our obc
