  1. We did the Steakhouse last week on the Vista.

    Nice Breads....

My wife had the French Onion, Filet, Broccoli & Mashed.

I had Caesar Salad ( one of the best I ever had)

Tiger Shrimp Cocktail ( Much larger then the Dining Room "shrimps")

    Surf and Turf ,

Lobster was considerably larger then Elegant Night Lobster and much more tender, the Turf was a smaller version of my wife's Filet.

    Had Mashed and Broccoli.

(If I had to do over again knowing now, I would ask for a regular size Filet with my Lobster.)

Desert we did not go for the Art of the table, we saw the presentation on a few tables around us, although nice presentation was not appealing to us, we both opted for Ice Cream :-) Server asked twice, you just want ice cream .. yes please, OH what the heck make it a scoop of Vanilla and Chocolate.

Great service and food was good.

We had YTD and we ordered the Steakhouse Filet one night in the dining room and it was excellent ( $20.00 per), well worth it.

Took a few extra Minutes but worth the wait.

Don't recall Cheesecake or I am sure my wife would have ordered it...

Dinner was just about 2 hours from beginning to end, 5:30 to 7:30

hi, nice review so to clarify I can order the filet as regular size with my lobster? if so thanks so much for the info, I can't wait. 66 days to go til Horizon.

  2. If you’re not worried about cancellation, trip delay, etc. but are interested in medical and medical evacuation,,,, put a trip cost of $0 dollars. This will give you medical coverage but no coverage on everything else.
I didn't know that, will check into that thanks.
  3. I think medical evacuation is extremely important. Just saw a story last night on Nightly News about a woman who was medically evacuated for injuries and ended up with a bill over $30,000 from the medical transport company after her insurance paid only a very small portion.

Now I'm sure this was a domestic incident of an accident or injury and the medical personnel where she was taken deciding she needed upgraded care somewhere else. But, if medical flight transport could cost over $30,000 within the US, I don't want to think of the cost if you're out of the country and need to be brought home. I know I don't have that kind of money laying around, and once I leave the US, my medical won't cover me.

I always purchase a policy with $1 million in medical evacuation for piece of mind. I suggest you look at www.insuremytrip.com or www.squaremouth.com for more information and the ability to compare policies and the things that are important to you when you travel.

Thank u. I have also been seeing a lot of medical evac stuff and it's scary to think about.
  4. There are many factors that go into travel insurance and you will have to understand the terms, clauses, riders, and codices for yourself, Then decide which among all the apples, oranges, limes, and lemons varieties of policies available to you that best suits your family.

That aside with a little one in the family (regardless of if on the cruise or not) should look at policies that at least have:

    1) Cancel for any reason. Some of these have a pre-existing medical clause and can be tricky to understand, and many will require that you purchase the insurance with-in XX # of days after booking and before XX# of days before departing for the trip.

    2) Trip interruption - this way if you need to leave the vacay early for any reasonable reason you will have resources through both the cruise line and your insurance to guide you. Will also protect you if the mode of transportation to the vacay experiences problems and you miss the ship's initial departure.

    3) Medical w/evacuation - can be tricky like with the cancel for any reason clauses, but if appropriate care can not be given on board medical evac back to the USA or the nearest port can cost tens of thousands.

Also note if the policy requires passports for all individuals covered. Certain coverages can be negated, like catching up with a missed embarkation, if you do not have a passport to get to the next port. While others will still cost you a pretty penny to provide a way back home, ex. extra hotel expenses in a port of call while seeking medical attention will not be covered if waiting on the consulate to issue humanitarian aid exemptions or expedited passports (which cost plenty on their own).

Thank u soooo much This is exactly why I was asking. It can get so confusing.
  5. First, I would consider looking at 3rd party sites like

    www.tripinsurancestore.com

    www.insuremytrip.com

Second, what are you wanting insurance to cover?

If you cancel entirely will losing $2000 ruin you financially?

Are you driving or flying to port?

Medical? Does your health care coverage extend out of country?

Things to know about travel insurance

Travel insurance is reimbursement after the fact coverage.

Break your leg in a moped crash in Cozumel? You pay out of pocket, then file for reimbursement.

Miss the ship in Cozumel and need to return home? You pay out of pocket, then file for reimbursement.

Insurance will pay up front for medical evac.

Not canceling at all at least I hope not to, and no $2000 won't ruin me especially since this trip set is about $10,000 so that's neither here nor there. I guess my biggest concern was with the ships Drs. for any unforeseen emergency. Medical evacs. Things of that nature. Never had trouble with my bags getting lost thankfully. Everyone is healthy thus far driving 30 minutes to the port so no air concern so I guess it'd be any slips trips falls at beach pool. things of that nature. Thank u for the insight of travel insurance, that's what I was interested in. U were very helpful.

  6. Not to be rude, I'm just wondering what 'fresh advice' you are looking for? I think all of your information is in those threads you mentioned. But that is why I am asking. We always use travel insurance and it has saved us a couple of times. The previous poster gave very good advice.

Thank u Mike and I said fresh because I really wasn't trying to read back through anything today as the baby has been very fussy and I really do need to purchase Something because we leave in 63 days. I'd been struggling with the decision to even purchase because as I'd mentioned I haven't before but now with the little one I want it to have peace of mind. Again thank u.

  7. Hey guys, I know that there are already threads on this but I need fresh advice. This will be our first cruise with the baby who's 1 year old. Normally we haven't used any insurance.. ( I know we took chances) but since We're traveling with the baby I'm not comfortable traveling this time without it. I need help. How does one choose insurance for a cruise? What do you look for? I need advice. Any and all help appreciated. may I please have suggestions and any experience dealing with them? Thank You in advance.

  8. Right. If you don't have priority of some kind (platinum, diamond, FTTF), you're not allowed into the terminal until your check-in time. They'd like everyone to pick a time closest to when you think you'll actually arrive, if possible. But if you really don't know, you can always check in after your time, just not before.

    So what? ;)

Thank u, this IS supposed to be a laid back forum and if a question is posed and u have an answer then answer it if not move on was not on here to be grammatically correct. Sheesh

  9. OK, so before the haters even get started -- I know! I know! Cut me some slack. I would not have waited to the last minute to figure this out.

So my friend and I booked a Carnival cruise together at the same time. I am a huge planner. She is not.

Carnival automatically added trip insurance. I immediately cancelled this and booked insurance through an outside provider. I have found that the coverage levels are much higher and the cost far cheaper using outside insurance.

But my friend did not cancel the Carnival insurance which was automatically added when we booked the cruise. (We did not opt in for this. Apparently it is automatic and you must opt out if you don't want it.)

Today was the date that our final payment was due. She planned to cancel Carnival insurance but waited to the last minute. When she went to make final payment on the due date, she tried to cancel insurance but was told it was too late.

She was certain that our PVP had told her she could cancel up to the last day. But today, on due date, she was not allowed to cancel.

So aside from the problem of waiting to the last possible minute to cancel (not recommended!) -- does anyone know the policy here? Is it true that she could not cancel on due date? She was not past due. She was trying to cancel insurance on our final payment due date, for our cruise sailing July 7. So she is paying double the price for less coverage than what I am paying. Does she have any options?

Hi if u don't mind I'm just wondering who u found the insurance with, I'm still on the fence with companies. Thank u in advance.

  10. I was disappointed in that also. My son will be in a room with his cousins. I would hate to have pictures with just the 3 of us (myself, husband and daughter) and not him. Of course, I could buy extra pictures....

As long as u, ur husband and or your daughter r in the picture with ur son they r part of the package. no need to buy extra unless u just want photos of ur son and cousins alone.

  11. Others not in your stateroom are not included in the package... That's too bad, I wanted one of my father with my kids, but he is in a different stateroom. Also, my oldest son is in a different stateroom. I guess I'm stuck buying individual ones - which will probably mean I don't buy as many.

If one of the kids is staying in your room u can have ur father and kids photo taken and be part of the package deal

  12. Well, at the risk of sounding like a lush 🤪 oh, what the heck, here goes. I maximize my Cheers program.

I start off with having some protein and maybe some fruit for breakfast. I’m not a fan of Bloody Marys, so I may have a mimosa if I go to brunch. If not, I head up to Serenity by 9. I grab a vitamin water on my way up. When the serenity bar opens, I’ll drink 2 or 3 (Bahama mama, Miami vice, maybe grey goose and soda with lime) while I lay out for a couple of hours. On the way back to my room, I’ll stop by a bar and get a bottle of water. Go shower, then head to Red Frog. Order a Painkiller or Beachcomber. Send my friend out to Guys BBQ to get a small scoop of mac and cheese, top it with pulled pork to bring back to me. I alternate my Red Frog drinks with a water [emoji6] When Alchemy opens, I’ll have a couple there (The Perfect Storm or Chipotle Pineapple Martini), maybe go play some trivia. I’ll go get more vitamin water and head to the room to change for dinner. Depending on how long my primping takes and if I take a power nap, I’ll stop by Alchemy again on my way to dinner. Maybe bring that drink to MDR or not.. I always order a glass of Cabernet with dinner. Go wait in line for comedy. Drink a couple of sweet & spicy jesters at the comedy club. Head to the casino where I’ll gamble and have some wine or vodka sodas. Grab bottled or vitamin water & head to bed. [emoji6]

  13. I was just on the phone confirming our cruise to Cuba next year. I was so very excited. Then I got a call on the other line from my husband. I switched over. He was calling to tell me his Dad had just died. :-(

This is why we cruise - because life is short and we want to enjoy ourselves because you never know when is the last chance when everyone is well and able to do something like this.

I was going to ask for your thoughts on Cuba and the Sensation, but now I must go home to my husband. We will take the time with family now and look forward to happier times in the future.

so sorry and I send my sincerest condolences. This too is why I cruise.

  14. Hey guys I just got my e-mail announcing the 2018 "Daily Getaways" promotion - looks likes it's April 2 for the preview then April 09 for the first week of sales. Rumor is that Carnival will participate again this year with another 15% promotion. FYI last year the 15% off Carnival Gift Cards promotion sold out within 20 minutes so plan accordingly. Note: A few of us (myself included) were inconvenienced by the change in Carnival's digital card provider. Basically when we purchased the cards we received an e-mail with a link. This link gave you the card and pin number. Like several others w/o immediate cruises pending I just kept the email rather than following the link. When Carnival changed providers the link died. Carnival was zero help but Daily Getaways handled the problem quickly and efficiently. I purchased 3 $100 cards last year and I plan on doing the same this year. Good Luck and if you have any questions let me know or follow the link. You can also sear last years threads as we covered most questions new folks will have. Full disclosure - I am not affiliated with Daily Getaways at all but I have purchased packages (Wyndham points) every year for the last 3 years or so.

    Related Note:

I went to the service desk on ship and gave them the card number and my pin number (came with digital card) from my email and they added it to my account - it was immediately on my Sail/Sign balance.

    Heres the website https://dailygetaways.ustravel.org/comingsoon

    Kevin

Hello and thanks for the ifo. Was wondering is there a limit to the number of cards u can purchase? Thank you in advance

  15. We will be cruising on the Carnival Miracle the week of my daughter's birthday. I was planning on bringing a few decorations for our cabin for the day of her birthday (she will be 11). I thought about bringing a few balloons to blow up/tape to the wall or ceiling, but I was wondering if there was anywhere available on the ship to have them filled with heilium?

If not, c'est la vie, some crepe paper streamers and balloons on the floor will still be a surprise for her.:D

Just a thought use the fun shop, let them surprise her by decorating ur cabin in birthday regalia. You can also include cookies and or cake if u would like. U can pre-order before ur sailing and let them know exactly when u need the room decorated. It's easier than lugging on the extra items anyway. Good luck, safe travels and happy cruisin"
