This would be better suited to ask on one of the Ports of Call boards for the islands you are visiting :D

Is the temp control (heat & A/c) separate from the power cut off - or is also only going to come on when a key card is in the slot? (or at least do they have some reserve system so that rooms don't get sweltering hot during the day when people are out of the room)
I believe the AC/Climate control was separate. We had a spare key to leave in the slot, but pulled it unless we were charging electronics. Our room was never warm upon our return last week

Hello,
My boyfriend and I are sailing on the Dawn 7/4. We don't drink a lot but want to enjoy a few drinks each a day.
We're just trying to decide if the package is worth the $.
Are there places in Bermuda we could use the drink package or is it for only on the ship?
Does the ship ever have happy hour drink specials or anything like that during the week?
Thanks so much!
The break-even point is typically around 7 drinks per day per person. It's only on the ship.
Keep in mind you'll be ashore quite a bit in Bermuda- moreso than other itineraries.
Happy hour specials are limited, but I believe there are several "tastings" available on the Dawn- it's been awhile since I sailed her.
Let's just say the $15 "tasting" I did on the breakaway (Martini) were definitely a better value than 2 full-sized martinis that would have cost the same.
Our bar bill for 2 drinks averaged anywhere from $14-$19 (Pina Colada, Rebellious Fish, etc). If you're looking at having a few (3-4) drinks per person per day, figure it will run you around $35 per person per day with gratuity included. UBP will run you $56 per person per day with gratuity.

No. They're run by two totally different entities of the same company.
-
That is way too close for comfort for me. Good luck

There have been some very active Breakaway roll calls lately. Couple that with low prices for last minute bookings and voila- increased traffic

Hi All...
We may try the Rope Drop Mad Dash for Vibe passes on our sailing. I've read the posts and hopefully we will board AFT...we are on Deck 14. I want to confirm a few things.
1. If we board AFT, I just go down one flight to Deck 6 and walk to Guest Services? Correct
2. Does everyone in all four of my cabins have to be with me? you will need their key cards. They will scan you before you walk onto the gangway, and then they can give you the cards
3. I should be at the Pier around 9-9:30 am Yes
4. Once I get my number card and I get to guest services can I also fill out the consent form for my 19 year old or do I get off the line and do this somewhere else? yes
5. Is it necessary to book spa treatments immediately or can I proceed at a leisure to the spa to book them for the last sea day. proceed at leisure!
We are on the August 17th sailing.
Thanks for helping out in advance!
hope this helps!

Ok. I'm going to have to shrink the image file sizes or blog them. Give me a minute- my dinner just came out of the oven.

Will post in a minute- didn't realize imgur is a blocked site

I'm just in love with how many folks from our sailing have posed reviews.
-
LOL, thanks for sharing.
Are the beaches near the port or do you take an excursion/taxi to get there?
Least expensive/most convenient way to the beaches are to take the bus or ferry.
They frown upon taking large items on the bus, and I can't imagine hauling a chair and umbrella around all day!

You won't be able to fit the plates and the drinks on the table at the same time. They're quite crowded.
Do a google image search. It's a pretty accurate reflection.

In my experience, so long as you aren't on the same floor (or same floor, but opposite side of the ship) as the kids club it isn't that bad.
If those nearby stairs lead only to cabins it should be quiet enough. I'd rather be near quiet stairs than under a noisier portion of the pool deck.
I was actually adjacent to a crew hallway that was the only buffer between me and the kids club (about the width of 5 cabins) and we had NO issues with noise.

I find it much easier to wake up in the morning with natural sunlight.
That being said if you're a night owl who plans to sleep in, stick to the inside
-
Skip the mini- it's just a glorified balcony.
What a lot of folks have failed to mention is the Wave balcony rooms. NCL was going for a more modern/sleek looking cabin. What resulted was a cabin that is rather awkward to navigate.

Would just the page with the hour-by-hour breakdown of activities be enough? I know I can get those uploaded within an hour of getting home :)

Great review and love the tip to use the garage with valet drop off. We are still debating between this cruise or the Dawn out of Boston but know we would like to get a weekly spa pass. What was the cost for the week and what were the amenities included in the pass?
The cost on the Breakaway was $199 per person per week. It includes access to the thermal suite which has the hydrotherapy pool, a hot tub, the heated tile loungers, two saunas, a steam room, a salt room, and the rainfall showers. There are also non-heated lounge chairs that you can relax in as well.
From a touring Bermuda standpoint, I'd choose the Breakaway hands down. The Dawn arrives in Bermuda on Sundays when many businesses are closed and the public transportation schedule is a bit more limited than on the weekdays.

Are you able to book Vibe at the terminal or only on the ship?
Vibe- only onboard at guest services and they go quickly.
Spa- in the terminal

Thanks for writing your review. I am headed on BA in a few days. I wanted to be clear about the embarkation. Based on your review, it doesn't really matter how early you get to the pier because they do not register you as first come first serve? They group you? Procedurally it seems alittle backwards. Thanks...
What is supposed to happen is that you get lined up in chairs prior to security opening. When they seat you in the chairs, it's in the order you arrive.
And then when security opens, they escort you in the same order you were seated to security. Where you then go through security in the order you arrived.
From there you immediately go to the check in counter- more or less in the same order you arrived- I'll say +/- 2-3 people depending on how fast of a walker you are.
When you arrive at the counter you are SUPPOSED to receive a boarding group number that is assigned numerically based upon your arrival. I don't know how many folks are in a boarding group, but for the sake of argument let's say 50. So the first 50 people should theoretically receive boarding group #1.
Then when general embarkation starts, everyone who has a #1 boarding group will be the first passengers to be let through the "normal" entrance. Haven/Suite guests, Casino at Sea guests, and VIP's (wedding parties, travel agents, etc) are escorted on ahead of general boarding.
So theoretically getting there early SHOULD secure you a spot among the first handfuls of people getting on the ship.
Clearly didn't happen the week I sailed.

Bragging rights.
Funny you mention it. I've got a cruise certificate and I've been kicking around the idea of doing the Transatlatnic or the inaugural out of Miami.
We went on the inaugural season of the Breakaway (september) and they had special Inaugural Season merchandise available. Haven't done a "maiden" voyage yet.
-
I always put the word "free" in quotes, too.
But they are still highly discounted when you compare them to full fare ones.
Maybe we are playing their game wrong, but we don't play on the on-board slots much so we never get any good deals directly from CAS.
As for destination, Bermuda doesn't hold much allure for us, somit would have to be the New England one.
Blasphemy ;)
I also agree with the Canada/New England. I think out of all of your options it will be the most "different" of experience vs what I would assume your normal cruise choices would be.
I just got back from my "free" cruise (I'm a TA and it was a sales incentive) and we also chose to leave from NYC because we could drive (12 hours vs. 24 to Miami) and since we booked last minute airfare was sky high.

A CC Member from our 5/18 sailing posted this great review of our trip. Dailies are included.
Show times have changed since the 5/18 cruise- hence why so many are asking about it :)

We never had more than a 10 minute wait for a table, even at the busiest times of the evening on our cruise last week.
Service wise, I felt that the servers at Savor were more attentive. Taste was a strike out both times.
-
The night of Harbor Night in Bermuda (Wednesday) was crowded as people had all gotten back from Hamilton too late to enjoy the MDR. Other than that, never a wait for a table, and usually quick service

You won't get bored in Bermuda :) plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures. The cliffs at Warwick Long Bay are fantastic for climbing and jumping :)
