  1. Fellow Eaters, Today will be fresh Sea Bass. Jeff
  2. I think what happens often in a thread - but I don’t think it intended maliciously as we all do it. I know that I do and when I realise I have I’m embarrassed and presume therefore others do it unintentionally as well. Someone simply writes an innocent well intentioned question. Some have extremely strong feelings about this topic and what triggers a rapid response are keywords like “dress code” and the actual question simply isn’t perhaps fully considered but the question triggers some people’s general frustrations and feelings and sometimes anger about the topic and other people’s behaviour they have experienced and perhaps without properly reading the question and giving the poster the benefit of any reasonable doubt anger is vented. Other keywords that does the same is “smoking” or “cigars” or “children”. This poster did what many sadly don’t. It was clearly a person who had understood the stated dress code and before considering a booking simply wanted to establish how it was currently applied so that they didn’t mischoose with the obvious consequences for compromising their own and others enjoyment of their cruises. It didn’t seem to me anything more sinister or bad than that. It was six words. I simply did what sometimes irritates others and felt the need to offer support to the OP who might have felt otherwise wrongly bruised and isolated. They haven’t sadly returned. Bestest all. 🙂 Jeff
  3. Looking forward to hearing about Mexico City …… and your food and some of thee buildings. But mostly the food! 🙂 Hope you and Chris build some new memories. Jeff
  4. Thanks …. that’s exactly what we did! I think it your first post here …. I hope it isn’t your Last Post! 🙂 Jeff
  5. It does. They didn’t ask what the dress code was, but whether it was enforced. As they asked that precise question it implies - to me at least - that they had read the code and were asking the question they asked. Enforcement varies - some use the words dress code as dress guidelines and that implies that on some lines people are happy with that more relaxed balance whereas on others they don’t and it therefore seems like a reasonable question to me so that no one is disappointed. There was certainly anger directed for simply considerately checking. It seems better to me that someone double-checks than takes the cruise and then irritates others. Simply asking the question didn’t state or imply any intention to flout whatever the practice was but quite the reverse. Jeff
  6. I fear for our LPAs. Wife is out next week for lunch with my solicitor daughter for her to sign as alternate attorney declarations and have it witnessed at her nearby office by a colleague. I’m hoping they do all this before the cocktails. Jeff
  7. One of the things I find bewildering is the number of times I receive stuff - almost daily it seems - from large organisations that send out something to all customers but then send an apology for some error or other. It seems that even with an advancing society things aren’t checked any more. Jeff
  8. Those bleedin’ dogs even poo on the ceiling. 😄 Jeff
  9. Good Afternoon Cooler Eaters! Today was dream bream with the new exciting olive oil and lemon with my cauliflower cheese and mash potato bake with PEAS! for Spins and some house white. The oil is good. And again The Boss has told me I can sit on the Good Boy step. Happy Days. 🙂 Jeff
  10. Oh leave me alone to me voddy! 😄 Is it just me that’s noticed? It’s weird how the undertone of angriness amongst Silversea customers posting generally on CC across all threads but lately sometimes even the Cooler has increased lately isn’t it! 😆 At one time everyone on SS CC seemed to be smiling and happy and friendly and now they seem to be increasingly glum and angry and joining in gangs to conspire to bayonet the innocent. 🤔 I hope that we collectively ensure that The Cooler always remains the place that most people first joined it for and not become little gangs. We will see. 🙂 Jeff
  11. ? Actually they didn’t say but that was my presumption. Jeff
  12. Hiya, My suggestion is that you needn't be over bothered about this. If you are normally clean and reasonably well turned out then on most or all night on some cruises (I think Med cruises don't have any formal nights but I'll be corrected) so you needn't overly worry. The only potential issue might be on some cruises when there are formal nights in some ship locations. In any event there are always easy workarounds so that you will feel comfortable and not offend anyone else and if you want to try SS then you should not let this overtake all other considerations in my view. Well done for being so considerate and checking. (Join us on The Cooler!) Jeff
  13. Aren't the responses a touch unfair? I think the OP was simply trying to do what everyone seems to want of him. He was simply trying to considerately establish before making a booking whether Silversea is currently strict about dress code. If SS are currently strict then it would presumably be unsuitable for the OP. I think that is what he wants know whether it right and so as to not offend others. This topic changes quickly and by ship and almost day. No sticky would ever be completely adequate. It they were not strict then it might be unsuitable for those that want the dress code to be more firmly policed. He made no request for anything to be relaxed for his/her preference but simply to be told what was currently going Please stop being angry towards considerate people folks 🙂 . Isn't the OP is being considerate and doing the right thing for simply asking what is currently happening on a changing topic and therefore shouldn't he be praised and encouraged for checking first? Jeff
  14. Has any other UK Coolers attempted to complete the latest versions of LPA's which we're being urged to do? OK. I am grudgingly willing to pay £328 for the bits of paper from the government for the four LPAs a couple must complete. Why charge so much? We are poor people! But why do they then make it so impossible to complete particularly for the inevitably older people in a way that it is that people will almost all will sign them in the wrong order. It is ridiculous. I do not believe that anything like 10% will complete them unproblematically without having to try again . I struggled to simply generate the forms so I asked my daughter to help me as she is both my wonderful lovely clever daughter but happens also to be an experienced senior admired corporate lawyer who immediately took them over and agreed to complete them for me. Even with all the resources available to her she struggled and found it incomprehensible. For example in very small letters in guidance sheets elsewhere they insist that black ink MUST be used for signatures and the sheets must not be clipped together! For four large documents sent in a single pack? What could possibly go wrong. And when you submit them and they reject them you pay £328 again from scratch. Some voddy now straight from the bottle. Cut out the middleman, that's what I say. 😄 And later will be sea bream and oil and lemon and more wine than I should drink. 😊 Jeff
  15. I found that the hair rather took my attention away from his tennis. They have dress rules. About time for some hair rules? 😊 Jeff
  16. It was lovely to see Wimbledon yesterday and some of the Summer Plumage on show. ”Boy With Wheatsheaf? Jeff
  17. Has she ever said otherwise? Anyway that’s what she told me. 😆 Yesterday we decided to give The Poop Deck a miss and had our frothy coffee, apple tart with cold custard and Calvados is the MDR. Jeff
  18. When a ship’s kitchen is defeated by the challenge of preparing broccoli though can apparently prepare cauliflower ( 🤔 ) or issuing refunds or OBC’s, or getting people off the ship but then don’t believe it is within their own responsibility you know that they are sunk and hopeless. Jeff
  19. L, Your piccies are of a lady exploring, finding friendship and having fun and honouring the Cooler with the sharing of it all. And I think that is lovely. 🙂 Jeff
  20. I’m not complaining L, but this looks like a Vesuvius Martini! 😉 I’m ok with no parasol but what about Oliver Twist? Jeff
  21. I have a feeling that Cooler Glaster has now become a 2 week event! All that mud. All those sausage vans. All those joss sticks. Still. It will be a great event of which us Coolers should be proud. Jeff
  22. But I am volcanic activity! When I’m awake that is. Jeff
