My TA adds the OBC a few days before the cruise and I can see it on My NCL. I call NCL once I can see it to request an amenities confirmation.
Sent from my iPad using Forums
We have our NCL amenities confirmation showing everything except the OBC, and the TA told me today they "purchase" our OBC a few weeks prior to the cruise. We've never booked with anyone except the cruis line itself so this process is kind of new to us. I'm sure it will be ok but I wish we could see it now, I hate the idea of possibly chasing a refund after the cruise.

Make sure you bring the paperwork with you that shows your OBC. Just in case something happens, you have proof of what you're entitled to.
Good idea, thanks.

DH and I booked our upcoming Breakaway cruise in January with an online TA to take advantage of a $250 OBC promotion. The TA said today that the OBC should show up in our account either on the first or second day of the cruise, but occasionally doesn't show up at all during the cruise. I asked for and received an e-mail stating that we are due the OBC but I'm wondering if anyone has had trouble getiing the non-NCL OBC you were expecting, and what happened?
Appreciate any input, thanks.

The "purser" is now called "customer service".
Oh that's probably true, never realized it, thanks for the info!

I think between Gopher and the Doc, they went through 90% of the actresses on Hollywood's D list of the 70's.
LOL! So true. We always joke that certain stars had their own permanent cabins on TLB (like Charo, Barbi Benton, Ted Knight...)

70 days until Breakaway to Bermuda!!! We're already planning what time to get up and get on the road to the NYC port! :)

DH and I just watched an episode of The Love Boat and are wondering if Breakaway has its own Yeoman Purser, what he or she does, if he or she mingles with the passengers, in general is Gopher-like at all... ?

Thanks mking8288, good information especially about smoking on the starboard side. We're nonsmokers so deck 8 portside could be perfect.

On deck 7, are there chairs there to sit by the railing and watch the water go by? We'll be looking for a place like that on Breakaway like deck 7 on the Star back in 2012. DH would grab a bucket of beers and we would sit there for hours watching the water, talking, napping... it was our favorite part of that wonderful cruise.

Thanks everyone for all of your info and helping to sort out the different cabins. We're trying to decide whether to make an upgrade bid from our B6 to a Haven cabin, we hate to lose the large balcony but some of the Haven perks are tempting.

A couple of questions about the H9 Haven Spa Suite with Balcony and H7 Haven Forward Facing Penthouse with Balcony cabins on Breakaway -
- How big are their balconies, compared to a B6 - Large Balcony cabin?
- Do both include access to the Thermal Spa, Haven Restaurant, Haven Courtyard, Concierge, Butler?
Thanks for your help!

If your DH has never used his unit without the humidifier, then bring it along. Call the access desk at least 2 weeks before your cruise to arrange for a bottle of distilled water to be in your cabin.Bring your own extension cords (nothing with a surge protect). I think that I said that we normally have a 12' and a 6' to cover all contingencies (and which side of the bed your DH wants to sleep on). The breakaway will have 2 US and 2 European outlets on the desktop (which is across the foot of the bed and on the opposite side of the cabin. There is also a shaver outlet in the bathroom which, if it is working, is good for a shaver (and not the current draw from a humidified CPAP).
If you are not using self walk off (we never do), then make sure you have a bag to carry your CPAP and cords off the ship on disembarkation day (we just have a couple of fabric shopping bags for all of the final night bits and pieces).
Thanks for such detailed information BirdTravels, very much appreciated. DH has a carrying case for his cpap and all extra pieces, he actually kept his old cpap to use whenever we travel. I guess we'll have to check how many amps his cpap pulls to make sure we have a good enough extension cord for it.

Thank you both for the info, and especially for the phone number. Good to know that it's ok to bring our own extension cords, we'll be sure to pack them. I'll ask DH ant possibly leaving the humidifier at home but I don't think he's ever used the cpap without it, even when we've stayed down the shore.

Seadog, hope your back is feeling better today and you and Mrs. S. are enjoying the ship. Your live review this week has been such a gift to so many of us! Thank you for taking time out of your own vacation to bring us along. :)

Thanks for the input garycarla. I'm so impressed that you can travel with carryons only! On our first cruise we went crazy (ok I did, DH not as much) packing everything I owned, I had one carryon alone with shoes! We had the gate agents at PHL laughing so much that they completely let us slide on the 50 lb bag limit for my big suitcase. I'm much better now but I'd never get away with just one carryon.
-
Thanks mdsgu, I'll look on NCL's website for their number, I wasn't sure who to contact at NCL or if they had specific ship info. You're right, that 8 lbs doesn't sound like much but coupled with 2 big suitcases, 2 carryons and my 20 lb handbag... makes sense!

Can anyone tell me if there are outlets near the bed in a large balcony room (#9126) on Breakaway for DH's CPAP machine? I've also read different things about whether we can/should bring our own distilled water and an extension cord. We're driving to the pier, not flying, so the gallon bottle wouldn't be a problem for us. Thanks very much for your help.

Thank you all for the input! I knew everyone here would have the answers. We'll keep an eye on prices now and after final payment. I completely agree that if you don't ask, the answer's always No, so it makes sense to at least ask.
Happy cruising everyone! :)

Thanks very much for the info. I saw that video hladygirl, that gives a great idea of the balcony size. Can we request just two chairs and the larger table before we embark or do we need to wait and ask our room steward?

Hello, we have large balcony cabin #9126 on Breakaway in September, can we make a request ahead of time for 2 chairs and a larger table on the balcony instead of 2 chaise lounges and a tiny table? Who would we ask/call/e-mail? Thanks very much for any input.

Hi all, we booked our September cruise on Breakaway with an online TA, and will make final payment by the end of this month. If I see a price drop (or if I see a higher grade cabin with a reduced price), can I call NCL to request an adjustment, an upgrade, or OBC even though we didn't book with them directly? And when can we call, before we make the final payment or after? Also, could NCL reach out to us with an upsell bid e-mail even though we didn't book directly with them?
Thanks for your help!

Feel like we're on the cruise with you, thank you so much for all of your posts and pics. And thanks especially for the menus! :)
Any trouble getting promotional OBC to show up in your account once onboard?

Thanks everyone for your info and suggestions. We have the e-mail from the TA confirming the OBC and will start asking about it at check-in, and will cross our fingers that all goes well. We're so excited about this cruise and can't wait to get back to Bermuda that nothing will put a damper on it, we just weren't sure how prevalent these issues are and what to do if the OBC doesn't show up as promised.
Happy cruising everyone! :)
