Is the table electronic or does it have live dealer?
-
Where would you see the OBC on the cruise planner if it is there?
-
Does anyone know if there is a status match for Carnival? I'm gold and would like to know if that gets me anything on MSC?

We only tip extra if we feel they have gone above and beyond. We have few requests and if those aren't met then we do not. If we feel they have then we do.
Find it hard to tip the MDR crew since we are MTD and never have the same wait staff. However, if we hook onto a team early in the cruise that we like we usually ask for them and if the wait isn't too long we usually do the wait. If we get them say 4 or 5 nights we will tip extra.

No reservations needed for the comedy show on Anthem. There will be two showtimes, and you just go to the one that fits in best with your dining time. It's held in the main theatre and there are plenty of seats for everyone.
OK good to know. On Carnival the early show is more family oriented and the later show is where the comedians can really open up. It appears, according to your answer, that both shows are basically the same so it really doesn't matter. What I don't understand is why the other shows its necessary to make reservations and these it doesn't matter. Don't the other shows also occur in the main theater? So why are reservations necessary for them and not these considering that these are more limited in nature (1 evening as opposed to several for the others). Just wondering...

I'm sailing on Anthem 4/2/2017. Someone in my roll call posted who the comedians will be a couple of days ago. I went into the cruise planner but do not see how to make reservations for these comedians. Is it first come first served? Will they be in a certain venue? I love the comedy shows (even more important than the "real" shows). How do i insure that I get to see them? Any advice would be helpful. (I posted in my roll call these questions but no one answered and I don't want to miss out).

I once got called down to the naughty room because I had a child's scissor in my bag (to cut off tags of new clothes). It wasn't even a pointed one. A round one like the kids use in kindergarten. I said you are going to give me a steak knife but I can't have a blunted scissor. They said no. The best part of the story: My husband brought his dive knife down in his luggage on the same cruise-its big and sharp. They never found it. I never went to retrieve my scissor-just bought another one. Took a steak knife from the dining room and used that to cut off tags.

Yes, people talking about cruising on cruise critic? What will they think of next?

I'm laughing out loud siting in a room by myself. Touche!

This is why I choose to sail with carnival over royal. Not solely because I get free room service lol (that would sound like I'm snobby), but that carnival charges less and provides more. I don't see why royal would cut this freebie considering their cruise prices are quite a bit higher than their direct competition

I also sail mostly with Carnival. I can enjoy reading at the pool, going to an art auction, playing bingo, doing a craft project. But my DH was getting sick of cruising (I can't allow that to happen b/c I love to cruise) because he is bored on the ship. So the compromise was RCI anthem. I figure there is enough going on to keep him happy and I can't wait to do some of the activities as well. I'm not sure about the flow rider as I will probably get thrown off and break something. Also not sure about rock climbing wall as my bout of shingles 2 years ago left me weak and I never fully recovered my strength. (Do they boo you if you attempt it but can't make it up)? But Ifly, northstar, bumper cars, roller skating, puzzle room etc seem like fun. And since we live in NY no airfare. The bad: When we booked in August there was still dynamic dining and free room service. We knew about dynamic dining being gone after I was confused about how to book restaurants before final payment. But since I sail Anthem on 4/2/17 (the first sailing with pay for RS) I'm not happy with the roll out. They should have introduced it and then went at least 90 days out so those of us that already paid still are getting what we paid for. It just seems they have no regard for paid in full passengers. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Have to see how we like RCI to see if we will keep the booking for Allure this summer or go back to Carnival. All these changes are not leaving a good impression. If we find it difficult to find a seat in the WJ for breakfast that will be an issue and I'm afraid that the WJ will be crazy busy as people will not want to spring for the 7.95. Will just have to wait and see. I'm not going to let it ruin my vacation.
If this post is still active when I return will post about my experiences with pay for RS and WJ.

I don't have hot chocolate advice, but just wanted to say that's not a stupid question. That's what these boards are for to get knowledge from each other. Hope you have a great cruise!

Try searching in Internet Explorer - works fine for me in that.
Safari, chrome & Firefox on my desktop, Iphone and Ipad - no luck, just that white screen.
Royal Caribbean tech was no help, had my IT guy check it out only to discover that internet explorer was the answer, at least for my issue.
Thanks for the tip. Worked for me.

I think we can rest assured that it is far more complex a challenge than it may seem to us from the outside. There's a very lengthy thread complaining about problems with Holland America's website (I think some people are going on the third day that they cannot book excursions), and I bet we can find similar concerns expressed about the websites of other cruise lines. Most recently, the big challenges come from the fact that instead of passengers accessing it from either Mac or Windows, and three or four browsers from each, now there are mobile OSs from Apple, Microsoft and Google, literally dozens of browsers available on each platform, and we're even beginning to see a strong expectation that everything work on Linux as it works on Windows. Layer on top of that completely independent systems that have to work seamlessly with each other (standard travel agent systems, airline systems, loyalty program, perhaps something specific for operations, maybe something different for finance, etc.) and it actually is pretty remarkable.
Its not that remarkable. Something like amazon is remarkable with millions of products for sale, millions of users, prime vs not, returns, etc. I have been trying for weeks to mock book and all I get is the white screen. Even CCL's website is head and shoulders above this. I guess they spent their energy thinking about implementing a room service charge (which was done horribly I might add) than spend money to fix their web site.
-
Just checked with Royal Caribbean PR. The charge will not go into effect on a ship until the menu has debuted on that ship, so there will be no charge for the old menu choices.
Ashley, Where can we find a roll out by ship of the new menu?
-
Actually, Anthem has always had a very restricted room service menu.
Here is a link to the room service menus:

Restricted is one thing. But to charge 8 dollars plus tip for cookies is crazy.

I feel cheated. I booked my first RCI cruise on Anthem in August for the 4/2/17 sailing. First it was the dynamic dining that was discontinued. Now I can't get room service without paying a charge. I wish I could cancel this sailing but since its 2.5 weeks out I have already paid in full and won't get all my hard earned money back. I have an allure sailing booked for August and that one will be cancelled as soon as I book another line. Royal can kiss my you know what.

Just the packets if you don't have a drink package. If you do have a drink package (Refreshment or Deluxe), I believe there is a hot chocolate drink you can have them make for you (not self service) at Cafe Promenade or Cafe Latte-Tudes.
Thank you
-
I know, I know this is a stupid question but I just have to know. On Carnival they have these hot chocolate machines and the hot chocolate is fantastic. Its addicting. Does RCI have hot chocolate machines or just the packets that you then add hot water to? Thanks

28 till anthem
-
they usually have scrapbook, card making and jewelry making
Thank you.
-
If they don't, most craft stores have little kits for just about any kind of craft you want, from jewellery to cross stitch to magnets, to photo frames and little filled bottles. I'm sure you could find several to bring on board.
I don't have an artistic bone in my body but I can usually follow directions so I like when its a group activity. Besides, its a great way to meet your fellow cruisers.
-
Some sailings have scrapbooking classes. Have you looked hat a recent cruise compass?
No I haven't looked at one. I guess I will have to wait till I'm on board and be surprised.
-
I'm sailing on Anthem April 2nd and Allure August 20th. Are there any adult arts and crafts on board? I don't care if there is a small fee but I like to make something to take home. I usually sail Carnival and they always have something.
Thanks

Michelle and her staff were very good. You will love it. I got a good picture from the plane with a rainbow in it.
