Nope, nothing to do with smoking. I like having the fresh air, having a place to sit in peace and enjoy the sea go by, a place to sit and enjoy coffee in the morning. So many reasons to have a balcony.
Ditto...only for us, its coffee in the morning for hubby and a nitecap for me in the evening.

Give me a break. They aren't using their kids as an excuse. Just saying that some people might have full plates because they are getting food for multiple people. Nothing wrong with that.
Exactly!

I have to agree with Midwestgal. We've been on five Carnival cruises and have yet to find crispy bacon. It's typically greasy, limp and not very good.
But yet the bacon on the room service BLT sandwich is great! I wonder why can't they make the morning bacon as crispy as the room service BLT bacon?

"but it's just easier to do this then drag 3 kids around the buffet…..so everyone please be kind to the mommies and daddies who are doing this."
Why should you as a Mommy and a Daddy wanting more than what others have paid for? Hang a sign around you telling people that you are more special than any one else in line. I am really tired of parents using their kids to get special treatment. I've been swooped up in this game, and I am just as special as any one else. I raised my children and you're starting out, doesn't make you more entitled.

I fill my plate for a family of 5….I go to some stations and DH goes to others…so yes I might look like a piggy with my plate…but it's just easier to do this then drag 3 kids around the buffet…..so everyone please be kind to the mommies and daddies who are doing this.
I was in line one time and a lady in front took 3 cheeseburgers…I overheard a fellow passenger say "greedy!"….I just had to say something! Again..be nice to the mommies and daddies!!!
Really no need to say that to any one,,,,,I'm a Mommy and DH is a Daddy - never use your kiddies as an excuse... /just saying
Wow! I didn't take that as someone wanting special service. She was just saying that not everyone that has a lot on their plate doesn't mean they are being greedy. She was just explaining that having a lot on their plate (i.e. 10 pieces of bacon, or three cheeseburgers) just means they are getting food for the family.
-
Oh good grief! Yes...they have someone serving the bacon. But if you want more, they will give you more. It no big deal. As a matter of fact, I always want only one piece and they always try to give me more, which I have to tell them I only want one.

Jubilee in 1992 (Not my first cruise, but my first on Carnival)

Show me the last time an iron caused a fire on a ship. It's not something I take with me anymore, but I don't think it's the end of the world if someone does. JMHO!
Just because you've never heard it happen, doesn't mean it can't happen.

I usually only go to lido buffet for lunch, and rarely have room for dessert, but the only one I save room for at the lunch buffet is key lime pie. It is not the best key lime pie I have had, but it is not the worse either, and I actually like it very much.
Dining room dinner service, I like the "diet", not sure how diet they are, since they taste so good:D, lemon, orange and coconut cakes. Also the creme brulee,
and love to order the cheese plate with a glass of port wine.
I like lots about the new menu that Carnival is testing, but am not happy with the lack of options for dessert. But if it means I have to forgo dessert in the future, then I do know that I will survive and maybe gain a pound or two less than usual:)
Ditto...I love the "diet" cakes over anything else...even over the chocolate melting cake. I think its because they are "lighter"...not as heavy/filling as the other desserts.
And I can't even tell you when was the last time I had dessert from the buffet.

Having had the same experience as you, I have warned people about this. However, last weekend for Valentine's Day, on the 3 night Long Beach-Ensenada cruise, my husband had the most beautiful roses sent to our cabin (He purchased them on the ship, not prior to the cruise). At the time, I thanked him, of course, but reminded him that I would not be able to take them home. But, just for the heck of it, I decided to try, and if they told me I couldn't take them...ok..I figured I would leave them on the Customer Service desk so they could enjoy them. Imagine my surprise when not one person stopped me...not Carnival employees, not Immigration, not even the Agriculture Officers. I seriously was prepared to give them up, but they let them go through. Because it was a Valentine's cruise, I saw a few others taking their flowers off the ship. So maybe they let it slide???
But, yes....99.9% of the time you won't be able to take the flowers off the ship.

Just turned it into to Guests Services. It's in Carnival's hands now.

To respond to the latest replies...I went to CS and showed them the jewelry. Told them I will hand it over to them before I leave tomorrow (Monday). Although I'm still a bit leery (due to my own lost and found issues). I have posted the info on several other social media sites hoping someone may see it.
The jewelry looks like a little more than more than costume jewelry. Actually, it "almost" looks antique (or at least older) Heck...I'm not a jewelry expert..so who knows how valuable it is. Regardless, it belongs to someone and I'm just trying to avoid the middle man by posting the info here and on the other social sites.
Someone did make the suggestion that I take a picture of it all and request a detailed receipt when I turn it in to CS..and I will do that in the morning before handing it over to CS.
Oh..and I did post on the roll call for the previous sailing.
-
Bumping this up hoping the owners might see it.
-
You could also post it on the roll call for the previous cruise in case it's someone that's on CC. Small chance, but you never know.
Did that already. Great minds think alike. ;)

I'm on this cruise too! We got to the port at 11:40 halfway expecting to board right away. Oh well. But since we are platinum we were among the first to board. Which was great because I'm traveling with a group of 17 cabins and I wanted to surprise them with decorated doors. I was able to get that all taken care of before they got to their rooms.
Also...I posted the following info on another thread..........
I am on the Inspiration right now. Upon arrival in our stateroom yesterday, we found a small bag of jewerly in the safe. If you or you know of someone that was on the Inspiration that departed the ship on Friday, Feb 14, contact me to describe the jewerly and bag and I will send it to you. Or if you live in the SoCal area, we can meet and I will give it to you.
If I don't hear from you before I disembark on Monday morning, I will turn it in to Guest Services and you should check with Carnival for its return.
-
Should you not turn it in now or at least notify Carnival that you have it in case someone is already looking for it?
That is a good point. But I'm always leery of lost and found. I lost something once (my ipad) and they told me it could be weeks before they could even tell me if it was found or not (it wasn't:(). I will, however, let them know I have it. And then I will turn it on on Sunday night or Monday morning just before I leave.

What I've noticed is people either love them or hate them....no in-betweens. I already listed my pros & cons in a previous post.
Personally, we've had deck 8 mid-ship balconies on the Breeze and the Magic and loved them. But Hubby wanted to try the cove on the Breeze last week. Only pro for me was being so close to the water. Going back to deck 8 mid-ship on the Dream next year.
But if you are used to inside or oceanview or your have a tighter budget, then a cove balcony is better than no balcony at all.

We just used this company for our sunset catamaran sail in Curacao.
http://www.island-experience.com/sunset_experience.php:
Tour information
Island Experience Booking # ISEXPIS-4
Start your weekend in style with friends or lover and enjoy the breathtaking sunset on our luxury lounge catamaran. Swimming and snorkeling also possible.
Note: Sunset trip for all Cruise ship late arrivals starting at 4.30 pm.
Meeting place: information booth on the Pier at 3.45 pm
It was one of our favorite excursions of our cruise. However, there was some miscommunication regarding pickup times. It all worked out in the end, but in all the email correspondence I had with them prior to the cruise, they were thinking Curacao time and I was thinking cruise ship time. So no matter who you decide to book an excursion through, make sure you are all on the same page when it comes to ship verses island time.

No, but when you exit the pier area (Riffort Village), what is the first thing you'll see?
You make a point. :-) I just remember a few years back we did dock at the floating bridge (on another cruiseline) and at the time, I didn't even realize it was a "floating" bridge. Of course, the fact that I was totally hung over from a pub crawl excursion in Aruba the night before may have had something to do with it...LOL ;-)
This time, we had plenty of time after our excursion to explore so we did get to see the floating bridge (although did not walk across it).

Just got off the Breeze in our first...and last...cove balcony. In my opinion, I found more cons than pros.
Cons:
*always shaded because the lifeboats blocked the sun
*no great sunset pictures because the lifeboats block the view of the sun until its "right there".
*balcony was always wet from the spray of the water.
*felt too closed in because there is metal all around.
*because the bottom half of the balcony is metal, when you are sitting in your chair, the view is blocked. Regular balcony has glass at the bottom making it appear more open and you can see out more *long waits for elevators
Pros
*if you don't like the sun, its always shaded
*more privacy
*closer to the water so you can actually look down and see the wake

It's hard to miss the floating bridge, as the ship docks right there....:D
We were just on the Breeze and they did not dock at the floating bridge.

Enchanted Forest
Oh My Gosh! 12 days on this ship and I never saw that! Well...I saw the entrance "Enchanted Forest/Noah's Ark" but I thought it was part of the kids' area so I never went in! Boy do I feel like a dope! LOL

We were on the same cruise as you...same type of stateroom (extended balcony)...we had the flatscreen tv. But my brother next door did not have the flatscreen. I guess they are replacing them as needed. But, let me tell ya...the picture on the flat screen was awful! Even called about it to see if we could get it fixed or replaced. The best they did was have my room steward come take a look at it. (He's not a tv repair guy!) Never did send maintenence about it. Figured out the problem was, if you were tall, and standing up looking at it straight on, the picture was fine. If you were shorter or lying on the bed, or sitting on the sofa, looking up at it, the picture took on a really dark contrast. Finally decided the only time we really watched tv was to fall asleep, so no big deal and didn't persue the matter with customer service.
I have not sailed without a balcony since _______!
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Started cruising in 1983. First balcony was in 2002 (Voyager of the Seas). All balconies since with the exception of a few "ladies only" 3 night cruises due to their budget restrictions. But if its hubby and me, on those three nighters, the only balconies are suites, so we get them just so we can have the balcony.
