  1. I hope they do this on Vista. On Breeze I had to purchase each photo separately so I only got few. I do love that you can look at them through the app and download straight to your phone though. On Disney and Royal I was able to purchase all digital photos and all prints for one set price and it worked out really well.

  2. I went in thinking the same way. This will keep me from worrying about cost but it backfired. I felt like I had to drink more on sea days to make up for when I only had 4 or 5 on other days. I took in more calories than I needed to trying to feel like I got value out of it. Additionally they wouldn't let me add a rum floater on my Pina coladas because it counted as 2 drinks. [emoji27] So yeah, I came a couple dollars ahead but I'll just pay by the drink next time, get exactly what I want, and not drink when I don't feel like it. I won't come in with a quota I have to meet. I gave it a try, just not for me.

  3. We had FTTF and got to the Terminal at 10:30. I think they let us on a 11:30.

And to the above poster. For by Breeze cruise on July 31 FTTF was sold out when I booked but a few became available in early June so just keep checking.

  4. Hmmmmm. Maybe I need a PVP. One actually called a friend of mine who booked a cruise on the Liberty through Priceline in September just to ask him if there was anything he could do for him. No ones ever called me and I've booked 3 cruises directly through Carnival.

  5. This is why I have a PVP. I don't have the time nor the patience for the CSRs. They have all been nice, but honestly I know more than a lot of them I have spoken to.

So there's a difference? I'm fairly new to Carnival but that makes sense. I almost just said never mind and hung up but she was trying and I was just sitting at home sick, watching TV. I normally wouldn't have bothered.

  6. So I thought I'd share this for anyone that was wondering. I booked a cruise on the Liberty for April. I'm not 100 percent certain we will go (I'm maybe 80 percent sold on it) so I did not choose Early Saver but instead went with a refundable rate. At the time I didn't realize that I could get a slightly lower rate as a repeat cruiser. The savings wasn't huge, $30, but I have plenty of time so I figured there was no need to throw away $30 so I called to see if my rate could be changed without cancelling and rebooking. The lady who I spoke to was super nice but it took a while for her to make the change. First she told me that because I didn't have very many points, I wasn't eligible for any benefits. I told her that when I did a mock booking after entering my VIFP number there was an option of a returning cruiser rate that was lower than my current rate. She didn't seem to believe me at first but finally saw what I was talking about. Then she told me that I would be penalized for canceling the first booking so it didn't seem worth it. I had to explain that my booking was fully refundable, that I had not booked Early saver for that very reason. She kept checking and then finally said she would check with resolutions and get back with me. In the end my rate was lowered and I kept the same booking number. It took a half hour but it worked. Obviously, it wouldn't have if I was past final payment. I just wanted to share and to recommend that you don't just take the word of the rep on the phone, they don't always have the correct answer. I did this more for future reference than for the $30 I think. And this was not a rant, I wasn't unhappy with her at all, she was very nice and helped me. They probably don't have to make the change and I could have been forced to cancel and rebook but they seem to make exceptions when it's before final payment.

  7. They pour the sodas from 2 liter or 3 liter bottles mostly into cups with ice. The ice cause us no problems. I saw Coke and Diet Coke, my son got a Sprite but since it was from bottles perhaps they have some Pepsi products as well?

  8. Thank you for doing a review of your cruise on the Breeze.

Did you go to the Thrill theater? Enjoy it?

We didn't try to the Thrill theater. The price seemed too high for such a short experience. If we had gotten a day pass it might have been worth it but we could only find time for one show and it was like 12 minutes or something close to that. We decided to pass.

  9. My husband and I travel with our 3 children. I book myself with one child and he is in another room with the other 2. On the ship we then stay together in the room for 2 with the kids together in the other room. I do this so I can book on-line, it won't let me since the kids are all minors. I asked if we could switch or at least get an extra key so my husband could access our room. We were told no, everyone had to stay as booked and no extra cards. I have a feeling they could have switched us and that the employees we talked to were just misinformed but we didn't argue and stayed in the rooms as planned. My husband just had to wait for me to get my key out when we entered our room and my oldest son had to wait on one of his siblings to get in. The rooms were next to each other but not connecting. Next year we are getting connecting rooms so it won't matter since we keep the connecting doors unlocked.

  10. You don't really know know Celebrity cuisine until you have sailed them more than once, and not in Aqua class. Otherwise, there is no comparison to Carnival- apples to caviar comparison.

I acknowledge that I haven't experienced the best of Celebrity which is why I added the additional information. I went on one of the older ships and haven't seen the newer ones. Maybe some day when the kids are older.

I'm a huge foodie and sailed Celebrity specifically for the food. We tried Tuscan Grille and Oceanliners and were underwhelmed. I think a big part of this is because it was a trip specifically designed to check out the food. We also focussed our excursions on dining as we always do when the kids aren't with us. Our Carnival trip was all about family and fun and so it was considerably easier to impress us with the food since it wasn't the focus of the trip. So I'd say it all depends on your frame of mind. I assume anyone getting on the Carnival Breeze with dining as the focus hoping to get an out of this world experience would be disappointed.

  11. Loved your review! Thank you so much.

We are sailing on the Breeze next month. A few questions when you get a sec...

Do you remember what you ate at Cucina del Capitano? We are thinking about trying it out for dinner.

How was the room for the comedy club? Did you have to get there super early to get a decent seat?

MDR food on the Breeze was better than MDR food on Celebrity? Wow. (not a question. Just a comment! LOL)

Was Nachi Cocum nice & quiet when you went? We went last year and were very surprised to hear the bartender blasting loud music. We were sat next to a large group (15+) who were there to get drunk and p-a-r-t-y, and nothing else. But we really enjoyed this beach and are thinking about going back next month. It sounds like our experience wasn’t the norm. I’m hoping you tell me it was nice and peaceful! :)

Have fun on the Vista! I think you’ll really like the Alchemy bar. :)

There were 5 of us so we had a lot of dishes at Cucina Del Capitano. I had the steak, my husband and son had the chicken parm (looked good, I think it will be my choice next time,) my two youngest had the spaghetti and meatballs. For apps we had the antipasti (which didn't have any cheese included so skipped it but my daughter liked it,) the meatballs (which everyone loved,) the arancini (I didn't try but kids liked them a lot,) the eggplant parm (I liked it but will probably opt for a different App next time,) and the calamari ( pretty tasty.) We were so full we only got 2 desserts- the tiramisu (wow soooooo good) and the cannoli (my son ate every bite despite being full.)

The Comedy Club had a lot of seating (seemed like less at first glance.) For the late show we lined up about 20 minutes early- line was long but plenty of seats when we got in. For the early show (on the last sea day) we got in with the kids only 5 minutes before the show and found seats way off to the side near the stage- not the best view but we were glad to be sitting getting there so late.)

To be fair- I have only sailed Celebrity once (in an Aqua room which had us in a special dining room) and the food was hyped up as so much better that I found myself disappointed. Might be more about expectations than the actual food but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Maybe the regular dining room was better.

At Nachi there were a few kids doing flips in the pool and laughing loudly but they were cute little girls having fun so I didn't find it bothersome. I considered it to be pretty calm but when we went there previously it was in April with just my husband and I- it was even calmer. Sounds like your experience may be an exception.

  12. It cost about $700 for my entire family to get passports so I certainly understand why someone would rather not get them, especially if they aren't frequent travelers. It's all a matter of how much you are willing to pay for that extra peace of mind. I will admit that I didn't spend the money to get the peace of mind or to make things easier when checking in, I got them because I had to in order to fly internationally for a land vacation in another country. But I am very glad I have them now because I am no longer limited in choosing where to go for vacation. Cruise starting and ending at different ports, no problem. All inclusive in Mexico or Jamaica, no problem either. But it's easy for me to say that since I already have them. For those who are satisfied with closed loop Caribbean cruises, I get why they would prefer not to bite the bullet and spend hundreds of dollars on passports.

  13. Once upon a time US citizens could use birth certificates to fly to certain areas in the Western Hemisphere, I flew to Mexico without a passport in 1999. The law changed in late 2007 I believe. The risk involved is that for a cruise your birth certificate will only work leaving and returning from the same US port. If anything at all were to happen and you were unable to complete the cruise then a passport would be needed to travel. I suppose for emergencies a citizen could go to a US Embassy and make an emergency application but who would want to go through that nightmare when dealing with an emergency. That's why many would just rather pay and get the passports. I did cruise with only birth certificates a few times but I always knew I was taking a risk and made sure to get passports as soon as practical.

  14. Yup....BC in one hand ID in the other....pass them back in less than 10 seconds.

I'm speaking for my own experiences. The birth certificates got scrutinized more because of the last names being different and my last name being different on their BC. I had to pull out my BC and my marriage certificate to show all the names and links. With passports no one asked me to do that. I don't know why but it has definitely been easier for me. My experience. Maybe different others, just sharing my observations.
