We try to take food tours wherever we travel.  While in Rome in December, 2023, we had a fantastic food tour via a golf cart.  Our English speaking guide made Rome come alive through food.  We booked the tour with Eating Europe.  I discovered this tour on TripAdvisor.com.  This is a “can’t miss” tour!

do you remember the name of the tour sounds wonderful.

Thank you very much for that.  We may try an uber then.  Can you book before you arrive?

Also, which ship were you on for your NZ cruise?  We cruised to NZ in November/December on the Majestic and really loved it except the weather was very cool and wet!

It was 4 of us and we did the Ovation of the Seas.. and really loved the ship and cruise so beautiful

Thanks for that as we are travelling from Australia in May and were planning on doing the same thing.  I guess a taxi or Uber it is!

Hey..l was just in Australia Jan 2023 had the best cruise to New Zealand…and meet the friendliest and most helpful people in Australia

Uber is also an option. It’s not a far ride like others are stating, probably about $60 Uber ride for XL depending on the day and time

Is the shuttle included in the tri-rail fare? Can I confirm that we can get tri-rail direct to Fort Lauderdale? Is that FLL airport or is there a downtown Fort Lauderdale option? Thanks, Ken

if you are leaving from port of mia, than have the uber driver go directly to tri - rail...you then take tri rail to a stop in FLL then you take shuttle to FLL.

i would call the customer service number. they were friendly last time I checked.

    Tri-Rail Airport Shuttle Bus

Complimentary shuttle bus service for Tri-Rail passengers between the Fort Lauderdale Airport Tri-Rail Station and the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Shuttle service runs during train operating hours approximately every 15 to 20 minutes.

    • There will be a shuttle that will take you from MIA to the tri-rail. I have used this about 5 times and never had a problem. In the Airport you will see a sign that says tri rail and buses. You will need to go to the exist and buy your ticket from kiosk and then the shuttle will arrive and take you to the tri-rail to go north to FLL or wherever you are going.

Thank you! I’ll definitely look into these recommendations.

Would we be better to head to the airport and stay near there?

You need to be at airport at least 2 or 2.5 hrs for international flights typically and it may take 1 or 2 hrs to get to airport

Stayed there in August 2023. Room with Terrace. Priced fairly inexpensive in my opinion. It was a smallish room (normal European) with a decent size terrace (no special view). Nice included breakfast, wonderful, helpful staff and great walkable location to most tourist sites. I would absolutely stay there again.

Thanks for the review and post.

Staying Pre- cruise in Rome does anyone have any firsthand info on Hotel Raffaello - Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western. They have a room with a terrace that in picture looks cute.

Just checking on response on this one

I haven't tried myself but others I know have told me it was a no to anything off menu now in the main dining room. I'm personally fine with eating in Windjammer for dinner, I frequently prefer it, but my travel companions may not.

When you see the menu at the bottom will be a small area called ‘classic’ here l was able to get vegetable plate, potatoes, etc in MDR. I also ordered off kids meal pasta and other items as kids servings are very large…l had no problem in MDR getting vegan or vegetarian meals. Although l’m not l still try to do one meal in this manner. I know everyone has their own taste in food, but l have never left hungry. Is true the Solarium Bistro has many healthy options if you still hungry.

It's been there for years but there's no way of knowing that unless you know you can ask for it. I think a lot of people would opt for a veggie burger, not just full vegans or vegetarians. I wish they would at least put a sign up.

I find the vegan MDR entrees a bit skimpy. I miss the availability by request of baked potatoes in the MDR just to fill out the plate. I'm not vegan but like to eat less meat.

Just off Quantum in January - you can still ask for baked potatoes - there where a lot of vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu in in the windjammer on the Australian Cruise

  10. Just posting as l just got back from Australia on New Zealand cruise on Quantum. The bionic bar was wonderful. They had drink menus on table or you could tell the assigned bartender what type of drink you wanted and he would come up with a receipt. The bartender scanned your card and gave you the drink. He would make sure you liked them.

One robot gave too much ice..but he got repaired. We all found the drinks good and the robots do nice non-alcoholic drinks so the kids really loved it

  11. I was on the Ovation Jan 23 Sydney to New Zealand and I just want to say Aussis and Kiwis made my cruise so wonderful. The people where wonderful, the food was excellent. The Cities so beautiful. Getting on at the start so easy. I'm from US and already planning my next trip to Australia and New Zealand. If anyone is in Sydney take the Taste of Chinatown tour from Trip Advisor. I learned so much and had some wonderful tea and food.

You're in the US though. The credit card surcharge mostly occurs in Australia and NZ.

Yes. I’m at Hilton Sydney this weekend and l had the message, if l paid at the Hotel…but Hilton had a non-refundable rate that l just purchased online thru the website to get around paying at Hotel and l will not have to pay free…. If l pay directly at Hotel then you are correct l would have the fee,,,

Is there usually a credit card surcharge to use credit cards at markets, taxi, restaurants, convenience stores?  In my hotel booking, there is fine print indicating there is a 2% surcharge for paying with credit card.  I am also trying to decide how much cash I should get at ATM at the Sydney airport.  Will be staying in Sydney for one day pre-cruise.

I used the pre pay option online once l was closer to my cruise date and no extra free was charged. Just a suggestion.

I will try to explain what we received.  When we selected our cabin we were given a choice of Fare Options. The first choice was called best price ( not listing this because it will be different for cruise length) and the second choice (for us it was 280 USD more) it was advertised as Princess Plus with a few of the added benefits being: Medallionnet Wi-Fi (1-device), Premier drinks with service charge, Premier coffee & Soda (minors only), crew appreciation included, and a free visit to a Restaurant on board (view offer details was printed on bottom of offer).

    Bob

Got on Chat, l had the promotion too, they told me if l paid the funds when l get onboard go to get services and they will issue refund to credit card

It’s about 1 mile south of the airport and light rail station. A cab/Uber/Lyft would be about 30 minutes or the light rail would be 40 minutes to downtown.  There is very little to do in the area although hotels can be much more reasonable than downtown.

Thanks I have a late evening flight arrival so I may stay here one night and then move downtown...I heard there was a good pancake spot not to far that I wanted to try out
