    Update!

    Current cruise has been cancelled.. no details on nature of problem.

    Passenger can remain onboard until until noon Sunday. Compensation includes 100% refund plus 100 FCC. They will also arrange our flight back to Baltimore (even though we did not use Air2Sea);

    No details yet about signing up for the transportation yet. All activities are going on about the ship. Some drinks are free, and the Internet is free.

    More as I learn it.

    Aloha, John

    It is a full refund and a FCC for 100% of your cruise fare!  So another cruise for free, but it doesn't make this situation any better.  Sorry for all the people who had booked this sailing.

  2. We are sailing on the Meraviglia on

     June 4th.  I had booked the Bella balcony and we got our cabin assignment the other day.  It is 13258 balcony with a bathtub.  My question is I just had a knee replacemnt done 2 weeks ago, how tall is the tub?  I know if they are tall, I can have an issue getting into the shower.  Not sure what I should do.  Help please!!

    Pizza was allegedly invented in Napoli, but it was perfected in New York [one style] and Chicago [a different, but equal, style].  I have never had pizza in Italy that measured to up to NY or Chicago standards.  NYers and Chicagoans know that you don't eat Pizza from Dominos or Pizza Hut – it has to be a hold-in-the-wall place named 'Angelos' or something like that!

    Ours is Gianorio's, but we are Chicago suburb, and has to be the thin crust!  Not a fan of deep dish "Chicago" style pizza!  And squares not wedge's!!  Funny the little differences make the it all the better!

  4. As far as the future cruise credit, it is 100% of the fare paid.  So only look at the fare portion of your invoice minus any credits etc.  It isn't a 100% of the cruise.  Taxes, port fees, any promos, are taken off.  When ours was cancelled, the "future cruise credit" was minimal by the time all the promos etc. were taken off.  So technically it is not a 200% refund as stated.  However it is extremely generous of Royal to give the credit!  But I know people who had the kids are free promo.  Hopefully they will do it again so they aren't hit so hard for their next cruise.

  5. We are on the new Summit now for 2 weeks.  I think the ship is beautiful.  We last sailed on her 6 years ago.  The room, aqua class, is beautiful.  Yes there is no coffee table, but we just brought the one from the balcony inside when we thought we needed it.  The casino smells of the leather of the new chairs.  The Windjammer, light and bright, the Cellar Masters is elegant.   Blu has not been revolutionized, but is still very nice.  As elite plus we are quite pleased with the ship, but have not been to the elite lounge yet, so no comment on that lounge.

    A day on a ship is far better than a day at home!!

  6. We had P328 on the Caribbean Princess last May.  It was exactly like this, and it was not good for us.  We ended up separating the beds, even though that was not ideal being up against the wall.  But our mattresses were not bad at all.   I loved the location, close to the Piazza, elevators etc.   It was a 10 day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to the southern caribbean.  We had several rough nights and the thrusters were out.  It was terrible, so noisy and the vibration was awful.  Made for several sleepless nights.  Never again!

  7. Really enjoying your review.  I was in Cuba in 2015 also on a cruise, Cylestial Cruises.  Had to start in Montego Bay because US citizens could not fly to Havana,  we were doing a people to people trip.  We also stayed overnight in Havana.  Also did Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba and a beach day.  That was a wonderful trip!  And it is so nice to see your photos and the changes that have come!

    The Royal Horseguards,  Beautiful hotel and excellent location!  You will love it!   Just my 2 cents!

  8. dtagirl;

    I noticed on the deck plans your cabin was a connecting cabin.....did you have much noise coming from the other cabin? Our cabin will be connecting & I'm concerned about that .

    Our cabin was not a connecting cabin. It was a regular room, but I will say there was more than enough storage in the cabin.

    On a side note, they do use deck 4 to get off the ship, but never noticed any increase in temperature. On the last day we debarked from deck 5, so it was very convenient. And above us was the crown grill, so no noise from above, just below! From the stabilizers!

  9. We just sailed on the Caribbean Princess and our room had the new nightstand which is just one. I didn't take a picture, but it is pretty stupid! Even our cabin steward does not like them. It is the size of 2 of the old ones put together with 3 drawers. Now I will say that I liked the drawers better, but it had 2 lamps on it. But the biggest problem was our beds were together, and with the nightstand only on one side, it pushed the bed up against the wall. So if you wanted out of bed in the middle of the night, you were climbing over one another. And only one person could read in bed! So we had our beds separated and I noticed most of the cabins had the beds separated. One couple at our dining table had left their bed together and they said they just crawled over each other. And one other couple had an inside cabin and they said they still had 2 nightstands. So I am thinking the diagrams are correct. We had an ocean view cabin on Plaza deck. I hope you get the 2 nightstands, it used to be so much better than this new stupid one!

  10. We just returned from a 10 day cruise on the CB a week ago. We were in cabin P235 and we loved the location. No noise from the Piazza or the International Café. However, like Pam stated, the thrusters were out quite a bit and I think they were under our cabin! The first time was in the middle of the night, and it was rattling the glasses, the bottles and all. It was awful, we couldn't even sleep! The seas were quite rough, so I know they needed to use them. There were people 2 doors down and they were complaining about it. Sometimes it would be during the day, so I knew it was thrusters.

    But for a little noise, ok a lot of noise, but I would do it again for just the location!

  11. The loyalty credit does not show up on your booking. It is taken care of by the captain circle representative on the ship and a voucher is left in your room the first day. It shows the amount of the credit but it doesn’t really tell you what it’s for. If you check your state room charges when you are on the ship it will be listed there with any other credit you have.You should get it on your 22nd cruise.

    Thank you, I figured there was a way!

  12. Princess is now giving out boarding cards and then take them from you as you board in Fort Lauderdale. They did this with our December Regal sailing out of Terminal 2 and well as our February Crown sailing out of Terminal 4. We got Elite group 1 as we were one of the first in line for both, our friends got Elite 1 for their cruise in December but Elite group 2 for their Regal sailing they are currently on because they got to the port a bit later this time around.

    I would assume there are cards for the BVE, Platinum, Suite and CC Mini as well as any other boarding groups. It should help from there being a difference between their policy and what actually happens.

    We found a much more streamlined boarding experience both times which was really nice, especially at Terminal 2. They have done a great job and are making some positive changes so you can get out of the heat and into the terminal in a much shorter time.

    How early did you get to the port to get Elite 1? We are Elite and sailing on the CB, but not sure what terminal she departs from. Just wondering how early we need to plan to leave the hotel.
