  1. I just came home yesterday from my first cruise with my husband. It was his second, we were on the Adventure.

My advice from one first time cruiser to another:

Make sure you don't ONLY take dresses/skirts--I had a friend who was concerned that I was packing mainly capris (my staple of summer clothes due to what my job is) because she only takes summer dresses....yeah, it was severely windy most of our cruise, so I was VERY glad to have capris, I had a dress on for a short period of time and had to change when it kept flying over my head.....

Take dressy capris and a dressy shirt for the formal nights...I did this in case I ended up not feeling my formal dresses....glad I did because really, even on casual nights women were wearing nice capris and shirts....

Take advantage of sales on the ship...I just had a conversation with my hubby about how I should have bought another guess purse since my big regular purse needs replacing...I just bought a smaller guess purse that I LOVE....I never splurge on things for myself, but am now realizing that I need better quality items so I don't have to keep replacing stuff (yeah, I actually KNEW that for bigger items...we splurged on our couch, barbecue and bed...but on myself I feel bad...but now I know better)

Don't try to do everything....on the adventure there was an ice show, and I wanted to see that...SOOO glad I did, it was awesome...I set a wake up call to get the tickets a few days before...glad I did that too....I was up at 7:30 and there was a line up already...but that was the only show we took in

I personally liked getting up early when we were docked...I would grab a coffee and walk the track, looking at the island we were docked at.....I loved that alone time, would chat with some people....but not many, as I'm not a morning person....

Sleep in late if you have a day at sea....why rush???? I slept in on these days, last day at sea my husband (who always sleeps many hours after I am up) was waiting for me to get up....I had literally NO WHERE TO GO....so sleeping in was fantastic....then we headed to the windjammer for breakfast....

Don't eat the eggs benedict every day....lol...it's very heavy...hubby had it first day...I had it sixth day (on a fantastic crab cake).....

Talk to people on board....I'm severely shy, so luckily at meals my hubby would start a conversation....we learned many things about different countries, and we ended up meeting many people from my hubby's home town! We got updates about the horrible ice storm that we missed from them.....

DON'T stay "plugged in"....we completely unplugged....on disembarkment day I did go to the internet area and emailed my parents and printed out boarding passes....since we were late because of the overboard man....(yes, sad and dampened the Saturday night for most guests).....luckily RCI was being very accommodating and had this available for free this day....

USE MANNERS....say please and thank you to staff...my hubby and I really notice when people don't do this, we're Canadian, so we notice it more....honestly, in Canada, people really DO use manners a LOT.....

Talk to staff.....ask about their experiences.....we did this often...then we had the unfortunate incident on Saturday which brought people together with unsureity, fear and grief....sad as it was...hearing other people's experiences of either NEVER seeing this happen or seeing this happen rarely made me, as a first time cruiser, know that this was a very rare occurrence.....

If I think of anything else I'll write more :D

    Great Advice!!!

  2. Read in a review that a passanger had to remove the case from his phone to get it in the safe?

This seems extremly small. On our last cruise, I was able to fit two ipads in the safe, on their sides.

Think they might have meant an iPad. iPads fit, but, just barely so if there is a case on it, it might not fit without removing it.

  3. Due to inactivity, your session has timed out. For security reasons, if you were making any updates to your reservation, you will need to wait 15 minutes before retrieving your reservation again.

I have been getting this. I even called to have it reset. They couldn't do it. She gave me an alternate way to get in, but how inconvenient especially since I am dealing with 3 different booking numbers for the whole family.

I have to not log into the site,go through before you board, to get to the reservation. Not easy to toggle between 3 reservations.

    Booo, Booo, fix it RCI!

    Kelly

I am getting the same message. I also called and the person I talked to "reset" it but when I went to log in again he said the system keeps locking me out. I have him my log in info and he put me on hold for a while, but, couldn't get it fixed either. It's been going on for several days now and still going on now.

  4. Going on the liberty next month...

Never did MTD just the late traditional seating...

Last cruise we did 8:30 table of two.

This time, we're kind of wanting to meet people, so a larger table is what we requested.

If we did MTD, can we get a larger table or are most people who do MTD prefer to eat by themselves? Thanks!

If you are looking to meet others I would highly recommend traditional dining. I have been on 18 cruises and only once did MTD. I have found that it is fun to get to know your table mates and hear what they have planned and then the next night see what they did each day. I've changed my plans for the next day based on what we heard someone is doing the next day. We are still friends with people we met at our table. Only once did we have to ask for a different table, we have been lucky or the people we eat with are just as happy as we are to be on a cruise. If you are looking to meet people, do traditional dining!!!

  5. Just got this offer via email, unfortunately the dates we will be there are blacked out.

Thought someone here might benefit from the offer. The code is "Bed & Breakfast", rates start at $109 and include breakfast for two, either room service or at their lobby restaurant.

Hope someone is able to take advantage!

Thanks for the info, I tried my date too and it wasn't available either, but thanks for passing it along. I'm sure someone will take advantage of it.
