  1. Hi Donna

A few of us here in Australia are thinking about starting a list like this on other social media, as many people using other types of social media these days (where there are closed groups) are always asking about the current CD list. We are also starting a group for the CL/SL and DL concierges.

We just wanted to check with you that you would be OK with this and any updates or changes that we get from the group we will post back on here to share with this community. Please let me know your thoughts. Cheers

  2. Balcony discount:

Diamond Balcony Discount When Booking More than 6 Months from Sailing Date:

$125* for sailings of 3-5 nights

$225* for sailings of 6-9 nights

$325* for sailings of 10+ nights

*When booking less than 6 months from sailing date subtract $25 from the dollar amount.

Are these discounts per stateroom or per person? Just trying to compare what we get in Australia!!

  3. Was it not listed in the Welcome letter you received when you boarded where they list all the suite perks?

The welcome letter doesn’t outline all perks, hence the forums like this are great

  4. Our experience was that they had set departure times in the suite lounge for suite guests. You can choose from 7:30/8:30/9:30am. Basically, you meet them at the time that you choose and one of them will take you down and escort you all the way to customs. They have a pass to call the elevators and they will walk you (as a group) past any lines waiting to exit. I agree in that this was one of the best perks.

On explorer if denzil is the concierge he will give you his phone number and when you are ready to leave your suite just call him and he will meet you at the specified lift!!

  5. Does royal get better rates than what the public or TAs can get direct from the airline?

We need one way flights from Honolulu to Australia (Brisbane or Sydney) after transpacific cruise. Direct through Hawaiian at the moment are ridiculously priced? In some instances more than a return fare!

Hoping Royal has negotiated one way rates - does anyone have any experience with this?

  6. You will find that no matter whether you arrive on the smallest cruise ship or the largest one or take a large or small tour, there is still only one speed at which Maui (all of Hawaii actually) works, and it is hardly fast. It is called Maui time. Take heed and relax.

haha we get it, we've been to hawaii many times but never to Maui!!

  7. I’m looking for some advice regarding the best things to do from Lahaina port in Maui.

Our ship is tendering - published port times are 8am to 10pm on a Wednesday. We are a family group of 6 adults - ages 20 to 50.

I know that there is the RTH and OLL. The ship has excursions for these but I’m not fussed on being stuck on a large bus all day.

    1. What are the best local tours?

    2. Do tour operators service this port?

    3. What are the must do things in Maui?

Any other ideas or advice appreciated .

  8. It is possible. When we drive it we usually leave around 9:30-10am stopping in Paia for a late breakfast. You can be in Hana for a late lunch. We then continue all the way around and you can be back to the airport around 6-7pm. This leave time for some stops but not much.

When I take visiting friends on the drive we will usually stop in Paia for about 20-30 min, Hana for about 30, the Seven Sacred Pools for about 30-45 min, and then continue to drive the way around without much of a stop beyond a quick photo op or the general store that’s on the back side. Optional substitute would be the lava caves. You’ll have enough time not to rush but don’t dawdle.

Whatever you do, don’t drive to Hana and then turn around and drive the same way back in reverse. Keep going all the way around- it’s extremely beautiful.

Thank you, As an alternate option I have contacted a couple of tour companies but one doesn’t pick up from Lahaina and the other - Hana Tours of Maui was replying via fb messenger but they have gone quiet..

  9. If our port times are 8am to 10pm tender at Lahaina. Is it possible to hire a car, so get the shuttle to the airport car rental depot and return to Lahaina, and drive the RTH?

Cruise is on Ovation of the seas in April/May 2019.
