  1. The opera in Venice sounds so romantic.:D

What do you wear to the opera in Venice? From what I have seen on TV it is dressy with gowns and suites only. Is this true?:( What was the crowd actually dressed in. Was this a daytime or evening performance if they have such a thing.

  2. If you have already paid in full, they will not give back $. If your payment is not due and you have not paid it all, then you should be able to switch.

If RCCL's final payment due date is not here yet, and you have already paid in full, then yes you will get your full payment back. Talking US here.

  3. I'm thinking about booking Giovanni's on Allure right after boarding. My husband and I will be traveling with our 4 kids (ages infant - 9) and I thought that may be a great way (and more relaxing) to start out the trip vs. fighting the crowds at Park Cafe and Windjammer with the kids. If I pre-book for my infant, the system charges him also. Since he's not eating any table foods yet, I was hoping he could come with us without paying.

If we book for 5 people, do you foresee there being a problem with space for him to sit in a highchair at the table with us or in a small stroller next to me? I wasn't sure how tightly the tables are packed in there. Thanks!

We have been on the Allure a few times. Giovanni's was packed with B2Ber's as the Allure gives them a complimentary lunch there. Not all the time, depending on how many there are. So you cannot count on it being quiet and relaxing. Even the seating on the outside is taken over by the crowd from Park Café.

If you want a quiet lunch head up to the Wipe Out Café. It is mainly hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, soups salads and such. Not what you would get in Giovanni's. It will be quiet and free.

  4. According to the crew and staff members we've talked to WOW cards are not worth the paper written on. Of course these were from people we knew fairly well that confided in us with that information.

They want their names mentioned in the Guest Survey at the end of the cruise. This is what really counts to them.

  5. Thank you. So I know where to go, just in case. Hope it is not going to be anyway.

Anybody has actual experience of upgrading mid-cruise, on Royal or other lines?

Never heard of such an animal happening at all.

Only time I have heard of a cabin change after the cruise has started is because of a problem of some sort. OR they won a suite from BINGO

Edit to say "I can't speak for other lines" only Royal

  6. Hi All, we are on the Feb 22nd sailing on Oasis and dont care much for the shows in the theater but do like the comedians. We tried to book the comedy shows and it says they are already booked so I called RC and the confirmed that....???? What happened to being spontaneous while on vacation??? You have to prebook everything 3 months in advance??? In our past 10 cruises, 8 with Princess and 2 on Indy we never ever ever had to prebook comedy shows?? How were we to know this?? Now we cannot see the comedy show all week?? Really pissed in Ottawa. Please Help!!

As soon as you get on board, you will see kiosks for booking shows along the Promenade. Go to one of those and book your Comedy Show. If you don't see one, ask one of the "Officers ..Suit " you see lined up on the Promenade deck where to go to sign up for the Comedy Club.

No worries, if you pursue this the 1st day of boarding you will be in the Comedy Club

  7. My husband and I are going on B2B in December. Our kids are joining us for the second leg. How early can we disembark to meet them at their hotel and get them back to the port? We are on IOS out of Ft Lauderdale.. Thanks for any information that you can give me..

We have been on many B2B's on many different ships. It seems to be never the same twice.

I would strongly suggest talking with GS at least 2 days before to see what procedure they have and want you to follow on that ship.

The for sure thing is you will be able to disembark with those doing their own carry off. The rest of the procedures you need to ask about.

  8. Not according to the last few waiters we had, and why would our waiter pick up and extra table not in his station if he wasn't going to get paid for it.

Don't you love it when folks speak for the crew, in stead of asking the crew.:D

Maybe the waiter knew the people in the other section. If they get paid per table I would think the waiter would get upset another waiter from a different section took his table and as you see it, his tip from that table:eek:

If you asked the "crew" then tell us what they said.

Question who gets the money if I have a different waiter all 7 nights, we made a point of it on one of our cruises.

They are supposed to be divided up amongst all the waiters in MTD. Don't know if you have ever watched the waiters in MTD. They work their butts off running around. I never seen one just standing around doing nothing.

  9. The wait staff has an incentive to serve as many people as they can in MTD, because the more they serve, the more money they make. In traditional dining, there are only two seatings for the wait staff. In MTD they can get three seatings in.

It is my understanding that my prepaid grat's go to the servers in MTD whether or not I dine there. Had nothing to do with how many tables they serve or what table I sat at if we did go there.

  10. Just checked E-bay and sure enough the calendar is there....for just $15 to start with a bid of $20 right now. They also have the famous casino key ring for $2....

    Gwen :)

That's not a bid of 20, that is a "Buy It Now" price. There are 4 people watching at this time to see if it does sell.

  11. The only thing that you would be able to do is upgrade if a cabin category higher that what you are currently booked in is priced the same as or lower than what you paid.

Refunds and OBC were eliminated on May 17, 2010 when the new Pricing Policy went into effect.

Are you saying, for instance I have a balcony cabin booked and a JS comes available for $20 higher then what I paid, I cannot upgrade because the JS is not the same price or lower:confused: They will say no to more money.

  12. I will just arrive at the dining room at 6pm. Just because dinner starts at 5:30pm, doesn't mean I have to be there at the beginning.

Arriving at 6pm, I will still have plenty of time to enjoy dinner -- and probably have dinner served in a more timely fashion, because the staff still needs to get ready for the late seating.

So what you are doing is MTD without prepaying gratuities. No different than making a standing reservation everynight in MTD.

    Backhanded if you ask me.

  13. What is the upgrade thing you talk about?

They are talking about getting a complimentary move to a better (more expensive) stateroom.

I don't think they were serious.

It's a long the lines of those that have the privilege of working from home all the time. They say "What's this thing called an Office":D

  14. Hope someone can help - I have just been offered a free upgrade to a Park View Balcony room or an OV Balcony room for just a little more than an inside.

Which would you take - I'm presuming the PV one is still inside but with a balcony:rolleyes:

    Thanks

    Pat

Definetly OV Balcony. There is very little privacy on the others. You pretty much have to leave your curtains closed most of the time.

  15. Been on 7 RC cruises over the years. We have never ate in Portofino's. Any comments and suggestions? We will be on Adventure of the Seas out of PR in Feb with our friends.

Portifino's is wonderful. So enjoy it well you can, as it is being replaced by Giovani's. Not as good for me.

  16. All this is very real. A friend on the Vision just made a booking using single sub and got the price brake down and the memo, regarding nothing can be combined with the single sub. So there you go.

So it's 1 and 1/2 times the undiscounted base fare plus one and one-half non commissionable fare = 1 extra cruise point for each day traveled.

Why doesn't Royal just put cruise points up for sale, they could really rake in the bucks!

Come to think of it that is exactly what they are doing!

    Sign me very disappointed.

    Rev

It would be very interesting to hear what Super Mario has to say about all this....this meaning the whole rearranging of the singles supplement.!
