On Symphony last week...
We were told they had no banana liqueur...so they couldn't make the very popular drink...BBC, Banana Bailey's Colada. Alison, the bartender at the Trellis Bar saw us walking by and made us BBC's using real bananas...nice.
Symphony at Izumi for lunch today...
Ordered 2 signature drinks...Spicy Okinawa and She is Geisha........we were told they couldn't make it. They ran out of Sake...and today is only Day 2.
We were on Symphony 1/29-2/6 and I tried to get a BBC the whole cruise. No bananas in the bar, I was told. It wasn't a big deal. I never thought to get a banana in the buffet and bring it with me. I am not much of a drinker but I was able to score a few strawberry daiquiris.

I was on symphony 2 weeks ago with 2800 passengers. Dennis the cruise director said lower capacity through April. May on can go to full capacity again.
We got off Symphony on Feb 6 with 3275 other passengers. No problem getting into shows or the dining room. I don't think they used the 3rd floor of the dining room at all.

For the first time, DH & I spent more time and money in the casino on our Symphony of the Seas January 29 cruise. Surprise! He received 2 offers from Royal Casino for a free cruise for 2 on select itineraries. One on Wonder of the Seas w/inside room only. The other was a variety of six RCI ships and destinations from balcony to inside cabin. Has anyone taken advantage of these? How much does an upgrade cost and is it worth it? I actually met two sisters on our last trip who were on a free cruise but I didn't get into the details. They did indicate that they had done this more than once. I certainly wouldn't mind another cruise this year.
What say you? Is it worth it?

We were on Silhouette for a 15 day TA in 2018. Ate in the MDR every night and had a different menu for the first 14 days. Day 15 was a repeat of Day 1.

What’s the weather like so far ? Was thinking it might be a little chilly in the evening.
It was chilly Saturday and Sunday but warmed up nicely as we went South. I did wear a light sweater in the evening. Wish I had one for 1977. It was quite chilly in there.

Thanks so much for the post! Is Flight also cancelled for the week? And any word on when they'll be back?
We board at 3pm next Saturday.. Hopefully we can snag a few specialty reservations by then!
We were on the same cruise and we saw Flight, the ice show and Hiro. Best shows we've ever seen on a cruise ship. No problem reserving our space, we just called 9600 as listed on the show sheet.

(so 66% of double occupancy) After reading about recent Oasis class sailings being closer to 2500 I was a little surprised. It doesn’t feel super crowded but it doesn’t feel low capavity either. If there was 2000 to 3200 more passengers on here this ship would feel crowded I think.
This my first time on an Oasis class ship and I really like it. I thought I would hate Central Park but I like it it. I love the boardwalk area.
Our 1st day lunch was at Sorrentos and we sat there and made reservations for shows using the app and didn’t have any issues.
We’ve now seen 1977 ice show, Mark Preston, and both the comedians. We have Hiro tonight and flight later this week.
I was surprised by the number of kids on this sailing and there also appears to be a lot larger than normal LGB population. (specifically G) Not sure if there is a group cruise or something.
Overall I sm very satisfied thus far and not sure how often I will check in during the cruise.
We were on the same cruise and I have to say I never felt crowded. Even the football play-off games at the Aqua Theater were spaced seating. DH really liked that. He said it was almost as good as being there in person. Yes, there were children but they were never a problem. I noticed that some of the teenagers were "hanging out" in the elevator lobbies but no problems occurred. Very, very pleased with the ship, but don't know if I would like it at capacity.

this was the first time we have sailed as Diamond and I have to say I was quite impressed with the Lounge. Also had spaced seating. Took us 5 days to find it! We kept walking right past it. Liked the idea of scanning your card for entrance. Carl was the Diamond Host and was most pleasant. He offered to help me with some free computer time so I could sign into our home flights. Tried the hors d'oerves once and they were excellent. No issues with drink vouchers. We never used up all of them and never had to pay a premium.

We were given a choice of 4 separate times so I chose the earliest which was 12:30-1:00 PM.

This is good to hear as hubby was starting to complain about "dressing up." Our last cruise was on Celebrity and Smart Casual was great for him. He will probably just bring a dress shirt (no tie) and his Dockers.

We did a land tour/cruise in May, 2013. It snowed like crazy in Anchorage where we spent 2 days before we started the tour. My friend brought boots and a winter coat and she needed it. I had a rain coat but several layers under. The news anchors kept saying it was the latest they ever had snow in the Spring. A few days after we boarded the ship, it was 70 degrees in Skagway.
A friend arrived in Anchorage on Memorial Day, the same day we disembarked the ship. The temp was in the high 80's. You have to be prepared for anything. But the upside was no bugs. Summer is horrible for the flies.

There is not enough value there for us to consider paying >$200 for this.

Booked on Navigator Jan 17th...My home port so an easy car ride. The only way I'll not sail is if we test positive for covid (both vaxed & boosted)...or if RCI cancels the cruise. Apparently the occupancy estimate is around 1900 and may be even less by the time we sail. Fine with us. My BidUp from my GS is looking promising....fingers crossed.
How do you know the occupancy? I would be very happy if Symphony was at 50%. This was the reason we chose the date.

Scheduled for Symphony on 1/29/22 and still plan to go unless RCCL cancels.

We received the offer to Royal UP in an email for the first time. Does this mean there are so many cabins available? We really only want one category so do we have to bid on all categories? DH is thinking about it. Our cruise is Jan 29. Do most people get what they wanted?
-
A BBC for sure. I usually only have one per cruise. We are Diamond for the first time on this cruise so will have some free drinks on our card. I may actually get crazy and have that second drink.

What do you suggest I do to be able to stay on till last call to leave? I am spending an extra day in Miami so I will be homeless till late afternoon.
I’m not planning on walking around Miami.
TIA
You might want to check the boards for Florida Departure and Miami in particular for things to do in the area.

BBC is my sailaway drink. I hardly drink much alcohol as I prefer to chew my calories.

Don’t forget the condiments and a knife, good grief. And don’t forget different countries have rules on bringing food into their country.
In 2014 took a cruise w/my mom and when we got off the boat in Cozumel there was a staff person with a large plastic garbage bag collecting all the fruit/food people had taken for snacks.

We did #2 on Vision OS in June and loved it. We had an overnight in St. Petersburg and were there for the Summer Solstice. White nights, indeed. It was a little chilly and needed jackets for our tours.

On the Symphony now. Doing two stops in Mexico and Honduras and that’s it.
That sounds like the itinerary for our Jan 29th cruise.

…the Baked Alaska parade of waiters. 🥰 That was a big deal “back in the day”. 👍🏻 Don’t even know if they still do that.
😁😁
We did a family cruise with my folks and 4 of my cousins/spouses on Grandeur in 2001. Remember that the waiters had different vests for Italian night, etc. Yes they did the Baked Alaska parade. On Vision in 2015 and 2017 and it was all changed. Even the "after dinner" drinks they promoted every night with the different color glasses. My cousin still has a whole set of those things.

I've checked the hotel website and can't find an answer to my question? Does this hotel have a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel? This will be our first time flying into Miami and we don't want to have to cross any busy streets or highways while hauling luggage. Thanks.

My cruise is 1/29/22 and I can’t make any dining reservations yet.
so September is too far out.
on the app if you click on the head in the middle it should state MTD on it.
We're on the same cruise and I made our MTD reservations months ago.

For those of us that live in the Midwest……I love the lobster on Celebrity 🤷🏻♀️
This is the only time I get to eat lobster. All we get is frozen tails. Last cruise on Silhouette in 2018, the waiter served me and immediately told me I could have more! Since the one on my plate was pretty scrawny, of course I said yes, please. That was a little bigger but I devoured both of them.

This happened to us on a Princess Cruise. DH and my cousin's husband were waiting "saving" seats for us as we stopped in the bathroom prior to the show. A man with his wife wanted those 2 seats. Never mind that we were right behind him and the next row was completely empty! He became very confrontational with DH who was reasonably pointing out that we were right there and pointed out all the empty seats available. This guy would not quit demanding those seats. Finally, DH put on his "cop" face and told him he'd better move on or else. A few days later, we saw them again as we entered the theater and I heard him say to his wife, "we'd better stay away from that guy." I hate to say that we had a good laugh over it, but we did.
