  1. I have been on 25 cruises and chose Disney as cruise number 24 for my honeymoon and absolutely loved it! We were treated very well , experienced a great itinerary, made great friends, and enjoyed four days at sea on a ship in the Mediterranean. I can't think of a better honeymoon for me and my husband.

So I can say from personal experience, DCL was great for a honeymoon. I have always known my honeymoon would be on a cruise as I have been cruising since I was a kid. But being on a cruise plus the magic of Disney rolled into one vacation that is priceless.

And for the record, I had previously done a Mediterranean cruise with my parents on Princess so I didn't like the cruise just based on the itinerary. Disney isn't just for kids.

  2. DCL is great for adults only cruises. My honeymoon was on the Magic in the Mediterranean in 2014. (We were engaged right before we left for the airport to head to Disney World in 2012.) I agree with the previous poster to make sure they have it marked on your reservation. We requested a table for two in the main dining room and we also chose to eat in Palo one night.

  3. The Magic is definitely worth giving a shot. Even though it is older, Disney takes good care of its ships. I have been on her twice and have two more cruises booked on her including a three day. I have only done two other three day cruises, one on the Wonder and one on the Dream and loved them both. Yes, the Dream is newer looking, but that doesn't mean the Magic is any less fun.

  4. They are not asking about transfers for a WDW stay' date=' they are talking about the day at WDW that is included on the NY cruises. In the past, DCL has provided the bus transportation as an inclusion in the cruise fare, as were the park tickets. It is basically an excursion included in the cruise fare. If you choose not to visit WDW that day, there are no alternatives other than remaining on the ship or going on your own. No refunds for not going.

Again, this is what happened in past years. Consult the fine print on your booking to be sure this is the plan for YOUR cruise.[/quote']

I did the Disney cruise out of New York in 2012. It is true that the admission into the parks was included. I used my room key (card) as my admission into the park.

However, it is not true that your choices for the day were to go to the parks, stay on the ship or find something on your own. Disney offered excursions/transportation elsewhere such as the space center, but you had to pay for those excursions (and you did forfeit the included admission to Disney World).

My mom and I chose to go to the Magic Kingdom, but my dad, brother, his wife and the kids all chose to go to the space center instead. My dad kept trying to talk my mom and I into joining them, but there was no way I was switching. My mom and I had a great time together just the two of us.

  5. I wish they had a like button on here as I agree with the other posters who said they had a great time on DCL with adults only. Two of my DCL cruises have been adults only and they were wonderful. I love all things Disney so I feel the magic of it, the second I walk onto the ship! Hope you enjoy your cruise!

  6. And you should not change your plans. My good girlfriend RAVES about Disney & her first cruise was a 3-night. I decided to switch my short 3-night getaway from RCCL Anthem to Disney Dream this upcoming March to get a "feel" for Disney & tour the ship. It will be an adult only getaway & I'm psyched about it! If you look more closely you will see that although some posters are very knowledgeable & helpfully at times, they also try to force their opinions on others...constantly...no matter what the post is about. Just say 3-night & here they come to bash! Apparently Disney does well offering 3-nighters & my good girlfriend who has also done 7-night Disney cruises is more than willing to do a quick 3-night getaway with me! And yes...we're paying OUR MONEY for it & flying to Florida! Have a blast!!!! :)

Have fun on your cruise! My husband and I had a great time on the Dream last April! I also paid money and flew to Florida.

Most of my cruises have been seven days or more with eight of them being nine or more days long. I have only been on two three day cruises and both were Disney. (My other two Disney cruises were an eight day and a twelve day.) If I am going to do only a three day cruise, I would prefer Disney to a different cruise line.

I love cruising and traveling so I make the most of any trip I take whether it is a weekend getaway or three week trip. And I had a blast on both my three day Disney cruises! The first Disney cruise I took was a three day and the most recent one I took was a three day. I had as much fun on my three day cruises as I have had on 13 and 14 day cruises I have been on. The only difference for me was that they were shorter.

So if all I can fit in my schedule and can afford is a three day Disney, I would have no problem booking one again. I know there are others who wouldn't book a three day, but that is not me. As my mom would say, "that is why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream.". Lots of options with cruises enables people to find what works best for them!

  7. I did a three day cruise over Easter with just my husband and myself and we had a great time. I chose Disney over RCCL as I also wasn't looking into a three day party cruise which I know that can be the case with other cruiselines three day cruises. We had plenty to do. Adult only activities are listed in the Navigator (by the way it is set up differently than Carnival's Fun Times so it may take some getting used to) and they are also listed on the app, which I definitely recommend you download before going. There is no casino which I prefer, but not sure if that is important to you or not. However, there are areas for adults and I think Disney does a good job with keeping it that way. If Castaway Cay is one of your stops, I highly recommend you go to Serenity Bay, the adults only beach. When we were there, it was not crowded. It was so peaceful and had its own barbecue. This was the most relaxation I have experienced on any of the cruiselines private islands. If given the opportunity to do another three day Disney cruise, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Have a great time on your cruise!

  8. Well, I don't like carrying or holding an umbrella, so I was quite happy with being given a poncho. But I always am pleased when a cruise line offers something whether it would be a poncho or an umbrella. To me it is a nice touch.

  9. Usually, I pack those cheap ones that fold up really small and are easy to pack. On our Disney cruise over the summer in the Mediterranean, we did our excursions through Disney. On the one day It was supposed to rain, the cast members handed out Disney ponchos to everyone signing in for the excursion. I thought that was a really nice touch. Never had that happen on any other cruise.

  10. Yes, moki'smommy, Disney Fantasy is correct. DCL did post that they will be releasing the summer schedule next week. Can't wait to see the itineraries. Hoping for a ship out of NYC, although doubtful about that one. But also interested in an Iceland/Norway cruise if there is one at the end of June or in July.

  11. Just like Margy23, my first ship was the Norwegian Starward. It was May 1986 and I missed a week of school. There were only two other kids onboard, but I didn't care. I traveled with my parents, aunts, uncles and older cousins. My uncle forgot his dress shoes so he wore his sneakers even on formal night and we still laugh about it. It is still one of my most favorite cruises and we still consider it To have had the best food we have ever had on a cruise. The ship was only about an 18,000 ton ship but I had so much fun. Nowadays I chuckle when I hear others say a 90,000 ton ship is small. Our ports were Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and NCL's private island. This cruise is the reason why I am still cruising all these years later as an adult.

  12. Glad I was on the Princess threads to see this update. I have only sailed Princess four times, but they were on three of those cruises. My mom and I really enjoyed listening to them and their trivias. Out of all the cruises I have been on, they were the only entertainers whose names I remember. I have wondered if they were still with Princess and if I would get to see them again.

  13. I love to cruise and have cruised on various lines. Last summer, I did my honeymoon on the Magic in the Mediterranean. At first, I wasn't sure about booking DCL for two adults (my nieces and nephews were on my two previous DCL cruises), and I was having a hard time deciding between Princess and DCL. But then I read a lot of endorsements in favor of DCL for just adults, and besides I was having a Mickey and Minnie themed wedding so how could I not choose DCL? I am so happy I did! I personally found DCL to be good at keeping the adult areas adult only. They offer activities that are adult only including craft classes and drawing classes. For the Mediterranean, they even had adult only versions of their excursions. On most cruises, I skip the shows but I actually go and stay awake during the shows on DCL. Also check out what movies are playing as DCL shows current movies that are produced by Disney. I loved attending the midnight showing on opening night of Guardians of the Galaxy last summer. DCL also tries to seat you with others who are similar to you for dining. I enjoyed the cruise so much that I just booked a three day Dream cruise over Easter for just my husband and me. I am a huge Disney fan so I enjoy all the Disney touches. If you enjoy Disney things, I think you will have a great time.

  14. In March of 2013 a bunch of us booked the 15 day Connoisseur Escorted cruise tour that began on July 18th of 2014. Two weeks later another friend who wanted to join us was told the land tour portion was sold out and he would be put as first on a waiting list. Fortunately someone canceled and he was able to join us. This tour was fantastic and Princess handled everything perfectly. I absolutely would recommend that anyone wanting to see Alaska book this particular cruise tour. An Alaskan vacation is expensive so when one does take one, they should do it right and take the best tour offered. If you don't, you will find that you will have to return again and that will just cost you more.

Was wondering what made this better than the 14 day off the beaten path one with a similar itinerary? Do the connoisseur tours include more? I did Alaska years ago on Princess with my parents, but am now looking to book with my husband and wasn't sure.

  15. I was on the Nordic Prince to Bermuda when I was young and to this day, it remains one of my all time favorite cruises. I loved the activities and cruise staff. Ken Rush was our cruise director. The ship docked in Hamilton and St. George, not King's Wharf. Although I have fun on bigger ships, I miss the intimacy of the smaller ships. I never felt bored on any of the small ships I was on. The one thing I can laugh about on the ship was the shower curtain constantly clinging to me as I took a shower. Would I sail on the Nordic Prince again? Yes, I would.

  16. I was on the same cruise as Disney Fantasy, and although I didn't get to walk by his door, I was excited by how many doors were decorated on my floor, including my own. It is one of the things I enjoy on the Disney ships that I miss on other ships. Even though I didn't do the fish extender, I also enjoyed passing by other people's rooms who did and seeing what goodies were inside them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and as my mom always says "that is why they make chocolate and vanilla". If you don't like door decorating, don't do it. But I don't think it is fair to diminish Disney Fantasy's enjoyment from it. Wish I had the chance to have walked by it, as I had planned on walking all the decks to check out the doors, but there was no time on this cruise. Looks good to me and I like how Karl Holz admired it. Oh and by the way, my parents and brother's family are on the Fantasy right now and the day before they left, my 14 year old niece was so excited with all the magnets she made for her door. :)

  17. My niece and I decorated our doors for our last Disney cruise and it was great fun. We printed out different pictures to match each day of the cruise and attached pieces of magnetic tape to the back of each. There are some great designers out there who make designs to be used for Disney magnets. If you google for Disney Mickey heads, eventually it should take you to a site that has a forum just for the creative designs. They even design different ears for the center circle on the cabin door. My door had Mickey ears wearing a sailor hat for most nights and a pirate hat for pirate night. Not too many decorated their doors for my cruise (it was an eight-night cruise out of NYC), but we didn't care. They made it easy to find our cabin. I really missed having a decorated door on my last cruise which wasn't a Disney, so I can't wait for my cruise next summer. I plan to decorate for that one. Just keep in mind if you do decorate, Disney only allows magnet decorations and no other adhesives so their doors/walls won't get ruined.

  18. I have been on the Explorer twice, the second time being just this past summer. I was never bored, but we were a group of 20. To me, i find the food to be similar in taste on all the ships. However, my biggest concern with the ship was her age which was evident in our stateroom. The closet door was broken and kept swinging into us. The water in the sink ran from hot to scalding hot. My sister ended up with a burn mark. Hopefully, they have fixed these issues since I sailed, but if I were picking a ship, I would choose the newer ship unless I really didn't like that ship's itinerary.
