  1. Have booked 1 week ago.

Booked through Zeetours cruises for the first time, would normally do my own research (7th cruise since started in 2010 :)) Flight is with Klm delta.

Arkefly had some options, for One way tickets if you are somewhat flexible in days...

And... It is nearly always worth it to book both cruise fare and airline ticket trough an US website, let the USD-EURO conversion earn you some vacation money, maybe you get some OBC and nice bottles of wine from a US travel agent, can't hurt to ask :)

  2. Thanks for the reply. There are jacuzzi's in the spa, yes?

Was there always room on the loungers, or were they often all occupied as well?

$200 is a lot of money for sure. Was thinking about getting a spa pass, but perhaps we'll see if we can get a Posh pass instead. If they sell them because we're going mid July so the ship will probably be packed...

All in all, it seems better value for money...

Hi Wouter, are you also from the Netherlands or Belgium?

We are on a transatlantic cruise with the Epic this April.

I've asked NCL directly about the spa prices.

It is indeed 199 usd for a week for 1 person...

We"ll take a look on the first day to see if we think it is worth it.

Although it is the largest spa at sea, it is definitely not comparable in size and amenities when comparing to a land-bases sauna complex like Elysium, Zwaluwhoeve in NL or the spas/thermen in Germany, Austria Etc.

  3. Interesting topic!

We're from the Netherlands and normally we can book a return ticket for about 500-550 euros, depending on the airport within Florida.

Just booked a transatlantic Miami - Barcelona on the Epic. This time trough a Dutch travel agent for an unbeatable price of 799 euros pp, flights and inside cabin included.

Normally we book though Crown Cruise Vacations and find our own flights.

I cannot book a single ticket Amsterdam - Miami and Barcelona - Amsterdam for under 550 euros together!

All luggage is included which in general would cost extra within Europe.

  4. I've read some old treads about the gym, spa etc. on the Epic and I get a bit confused.

Maybe someone who is just off the Epic and/or is familiar with the Gym locker room could answer my question?

    - Is there a locker room which is to use without paying for a spa pass before or after going to the gym?

    - If there is one: what are the amenities: is there a shower, towels, soap, sauna and/or a steam room?

I don't care for a spa experience with all the bells and whistles but would like to take a shower and simple steam or sauna before returning to my room.

Thank you for helping me out on my decision whether to book the Epic or not :p.

  5. Sorry to everybody who posted questions to this thread over the past few months that I didn't answer. I stopped frequenting these boards because I didn't have a cruise booked. I just booked a last-minute cruise for 3/30/13, so I came back to the boards and saw all of these posts I never replied to.

I'm assuming most of you have found answers to your questions by now, but I will clear up what seems to be the most confusing thing about the spa for everyone...the question of who has to pay for access to the facilities and who doesn't. It's actually pretty straightforward.

If you are not booked in a spa cabin, you will NOT be allowed into the spa unless you pay the weekly or daily fee.

If you originally booked a 4S, 6S, 8S, or SS cabin, your access is included at no extra charge.

If you originally booked a non-spa cabin, but later upgraded to a 4S, 6S, 8S, or SS cabin, spa access is only included if you paid for the upgrade. It doesn't matter if you initiate the upgrade yourself or if Carnival offers you the upgrade. All that matters is whether or not you paid for it. If you don't have to pay for the upgrade, you don't get access to the spa facilities. In my case, it cost me $3.60 to switch from the 6N to the 6S, so my spa privileges were included. If the price on the 6S had dropped just $4.00 more, however, I would not have been given spa access because it would have been considered a free upgrade.

Thank you for your info about the spa cabins.

Your info, photos and video on YouTube have me inspired to look at the prices for the inside spa cabins. Paying 100 USD extra per person (75 euro in our case...) is a good deal I think for the spa cabin and unlimited access. We always go to the gym and take a sauna or steam bath afterwards, shower and then go to dinner, we are used to dining late.

It is sure that we book this cruise, haven't booked jet because we want to wait till next month, we allready have plane tickets to go.

I've read that you have professional experience with booking cruises. :D

What do you think, will the prices go up or down during the month?
