1. We also talked about the casino and she said the active player rule will be enforced .

I'm sure they did and those that wish to believe that, are more than welcome to.

    A couple of points.

If I contacted anyone at Norwegian about policies in place that I might be concerned about, I'm pretty sure I would get the response that said "oh yes, by all means we enforce that policy". And just because this is a health related issue, doesn't say much about follow through. In the last 2 years I have seen threads upon threads (and one on the go now) about swim diapers and NCL staff turning their back or no one enforcing it. I have also seen threads and threads about water bottle filling from the buffet. Same thing, some have been told but most claim to never see a staff member correcting this. Both health related IMO.

I know a lot of people working that are almost a professional in "looking busy" but accomplishing little. I'm sure it is very easy for most smokers to wander around the casino smoking and looking interested in possibly trying a machine or a table game, while using the casino only for a smoking room. A quick "oh yes I'm just waiting for that ... machine to free up" Also there are many land based casinos that offer free or cheap buses to casinos, free or discounted lunches just to get these (known as penny players) to their establishment, thinking if they get them there they will eventually play more. So it's a small loss for a potential larger in the future gain. So having a non-playing smoker, to the casino, gives them the opportunity to wow them with bells and whistles to become a player.

So don't be surprised if this is just another policy that is not corrected by staff. Because I highly doubt it will be any different than 95% of policies for Norwegian, that appear to be just suggestions.

  2.
I am curious why anyone would be loyal to a cruise line.
That doesn't mean I don't have preferences just that I am loyal to loved ones not to massive corporations.
    And you ?
I obviously ruffled feathers by a simple question that BTW I got answered. I did not criticize that poster, give an opinion on whether I thought the poster was right or wrong. I didn't say that poster could not express their views to the company or otherwise. So I'm not really sure why everyone seems to be jumping on this.

To answer your question, I have been "loyal" to many companies in my lifetime. And by definition of the word that is possible. And if you feel you only wish to be loyal to loved ones, have at her. I could care less.

Seriously folks, I guess this is why so many people have low posting counts but have been a member for longer, you ask a simple question and everyone seems to want to interpret it in a negative way.
  3.
As a matter of fact, yes - I did make it clear I prefer to cruise on lines that do not permit smoking on balconies. I also made it clear that I cruise 10-12 times a year so regardless of how many cruise lines I sail with, I'm still more likely to cruise with any 1 individual line more than most people.
wasn't trying to insult, just curious, as I said.
  4.
Last week, I sent a letter to both CCL and NCL thanking them for this new policy, as I did when RCI did it, Celebrity and Princess. I just received a very nice response from NCL in the mail. I'm not going to share it because I don't feel like typing it all out but lets just say, I'm happy they actually listen to and respond to passenger concerns. Bravo NCL. :D
hmmm just curious, did you tell each of them, in their letters that you were loyal to 4 other cruise lines?
  5. Canada had the same experience.

    .

I don't normally post and am not really interested in getting into this silly debate, but have read it with amusement and interest.

But this information is not completely correct. There have been a lot of small businesses close because of Canada's smoking rules and a lot of businesses hurt by them.

BTW in all of these pages of debate, I really haven't seen one poster who has been swayed to think differently that what they did prior to reading an alternate point of view.

    Carry on
