There is no excuse for RCL . When one calls the rep always starts out with reservation # please !!!

The rep knew the cruise was a transatlantic.

This regardless of what passenger told him .

RCL reps gave out false information .

We sailed two Greece cruises in October and then the repositioning on Wonder from Spain to FL this past week. We received constant emails regarding the boarding expectations. We also had those same expectations listed on the app and our TA sent them as well. If you are paying attention the info is there, the lawyers make sure of this so the cruise lines are covered. Always have trip insurance and a TA if at all possible. Trips go much smoother when a TA helps along the way. I feel for anyone though that has a trip ruined due to misunderstood information.

  2. For the 2 cruises we sailed on the Jewel in October both sailings we went to Guest Services the day prior to disembarkation they asked, back to original payment or cash. We took cash both times, one had $18 of nonrefundable left so that just went to our room steward by filling out a form and listing him personally and the amount.

  3. We were on Jewel for 18 days, we disembarked as you embarked. The ship was full for our 2 sailings but easily managed by the great crew. We are heading back to the states on Wonder, one of the other "competition" ships. Makes me 'Wonder' now if ours will be full?

If you can please stop by Schooner for great drinks,  mention to John & Renaldo, they are both TERRIFIC that Brian & Guyla miss them. If you like Martini's Renaldo will make you one that is his good friends recipe, one of the best I have ever had!

We also in 2019 had some of the best excursions in the Canary islands. Each has its own feel and we will always remember them. Enjoy, looking forward to reading your review and safe sailing!

  4. Our youngest adult son cruised with us on a 8 day Odyssey cruise recently and had the soda pkg. He mentioned that his soda cup extended past the 8 days and could be used up to another 5 days. He flew home to his job and we then boarded Freedom the following day after disembarking Odyssey. Curious, I took the cup to see if it would work thinking there is no way. It did. Now before anyone thinks I kept using it, I did not as I had plenty of drink coupons that at times go to waste. I'm just wondering how that makes sense and if anyone else had found this to happen?

Thanks.  Hopefully the questioning was not rude or aggressive.  Out of curiosity, do you remember which looked so-offputting you did not even want to try them?

The cones filling was a off putting tint made to look like a babies diaper and having just previously smelled the eggs, which had a bit of a burnt smell didn't help.

When questioned on why the table did not try a couple of the app's it seemed she felt we were not trying the experience as a whole. We tried to play it off as just choosing which foods we preferred as we had so many choices but she made it seem like we weren't hospitable guests. I think she also has some anxiety as the Captain, his wife and 2 guests were a table over from us and she might of felt awkward we were not trying the items.

  6. Count us in for a one and done. The concept is fun, entering and being escorted to the table by the Mad Hatter is a novelty. The server did a excellent job of explaining the various appetizers everyone was to receive and answered knowledgeable questions regarding entrees.

Presentation was "interesting". Some foods immediately looked yummy, but some, very unappealing which made for a rather unpleasant feeling of leaving food completely untouched and then being asked about why we didn't at least try it. The "specialty drinks" are 'cool' looking but not that great tasting.

Desserts were all good but sweet so very few bites. I'm still happy we had the experience but not one that I see many returning for, including us. I would of least liked to of had one item that I really loved but unfortunately it was all basic to the taste.

  7. I had the exact same experience today. We have a B3B so towels for those. I will call C&A then and the next B3B will be strawberries. The next with another call will be wine. It's a pain but my understanding is they only have a box to input the amenity and cannot expand on multiple cruises. Workin for our amenities ;)))

Because at the end of the day they get good free PR in return,

    simple .

No. Basic business sense. Let's say cruise line gives all passengers on the cruise a FCC. Possibly 50% may use the FCC within the guidelines set by the cruise company. That drops revenue for the sailing the customer with the FCC chooses and does not allow another customer to come along and pay full price. "Goodwill" always has a price to the company. But in reality, the price the company is paying out will be off loaded to us, the consumer. Just like when someone steals at the grocery store, eventually, the prices go up for all of us.

There is a whole department of people who gather to make decisions on how to handle special situations. Each company will decide differently, or sometimes not to be outdone by another company, will wait it out and then come up with a better plan, making them the hero in the long run.

  9. HK is a 8am-6pm port day docking Kai Tak. We will walk off as soon as ship is cleared.  We would like to DIY and start by going to Lantau Island for Big Buddha & walk the wisdom path and stop at Tung Chung Outlet Shop. Move over to Tai O fishing village. Then to Aberdeen Promenade for Sampan ride and eat at Jumbo Floating restaurant. Back to ship.

Does this sound reasonable for the time we are ported and if so, what exactly are the linguistics of transportation?

  10. Dennis met us at our hotel near the Pantheon and we spent several hours walking through Campo De’ Fiori and the various markets and restaurants in that area. We began at a pastry shop for cappuccino and cannoli. We moved on to a pizza shop, a store selling meats and cheeses and toured the Campo De’ Fiori market as well, sampling olive oils and balsamic vinegars and such. We ended at a lovely restaurant for a pasta lunch prepared by the most delightful lady in her 80’s.

Dennis was engaging and so informative about what we were seeing and experiencing. The amount of food provided was surprising (in a good way!). We couldn’t begin to eat it all, so Dennis made sure any left overs were boxed up at each stop and we took it back to the hotel. All in all it was a terrific tour - maybe 3-4 hours in length.

How can we get in touch with Dennis for this tour? Do you mind telling me the names of the places for the pastry shop, pizza and lunch? This sounds like a wonderful tour and we love RIL!

CRUISE CRITIC is "supposed to" be a HELPFUL SITE, but not being able to get in touch with other  cruisers about a good TA,  is certainly NOT HELPFUL...

I am not proposing posting your TA, just being able to ask by sending a fellow poster an email would be helpful.

I heard once, and do not know if true, that Cruise Critic is run by a travel agency, could be why.

  12. I left ours of 10 years because the company started putting part of the cruise fare charge into the taxes and port fees box, therefore, making the cruise fare lower then it actually is. It did not allow me to ask for a lowered price if the cruise company dropped it. I spoke about this twice and said it was unethical and it was justified by her. She did reach out a while back and ask if we stopped traveling. I told her no, we actually are cruising more then ever ;))

  13. So many use the same agency that give many perks, and often each holiday add additional perks to the normal ones. Combined with booking onboard, then transferring to the TA, it can really help the cruise cost, our last ones we received almost 25% of the cruise price back in OBC, free tips and specialty dining. We found about this TA from speaking onboard to those that cruise often. We switched and couldn't be happier!
