Will be on Ovation of the Seas this summer for an Alaska cruise.  We plan on getting the Deluxe Drink Package.  Looking at Cruise Compasses from last summer we saw several Mixology Classes offered.  Does anyone know if having the drink package will lower the costs of the Mixology Classes or are you stuck paying full price?

I'm the past it's been a reduced price, not sure if that's changed or not... It's been years.

    Thanks for those menu pictures!!

I know that the Starbucks drinks are not included in the Deluxe Beverage Package, but are the other coffee drinks from La Patisserie included?

On anthem, the Starbucks drinks at LA Patisserie are included in the deluxe drink package. As long as it's not a stand alone Starbucks, they are included in the deluxe drink package.

Oasis of the seas on 16th August inside cabin is $960 plus 147 taxes per person on my online TA website
Its cheaper on the 30th august $857 + 147 tax per person.
The price you are paying sounds really incredible

It's really incredible. That's why I was so hesitant to book. I have no idea how the TA did it. The taxes and fees are incredibly high but I dont want to question it because its an exceptional price. This room is for my daughter and grandaughter, she didn't want a balcony with a 2 year old. We have a crown loft suite and our taxes and fees are considerably lower. Any thoughts on that?

I took the plunge and did it. I used a cc and I checked a royal's website, it's there.  The invoice is a TA invoice not Royal invoice. The price is strange to me. We booked an inside room on Oasis of the seas, it was about $430 for each person but the taxes were $400. The total cost and about $1600, everywhere else had the same category for $2200.
How do you determine if the TA processed the payment or the if Royal did???

    TIA

    Which sailing date and port?

Oasis of the seas Aug 16 leaving from NY going to FL, Nassau and cococay

If you are able to check out your charges online, you can look and see if it is charged to the cruise line or the TA. If not, you can call the credit card company and ask who the charge is being billed to.

I am not able to see charges online, I will call the cc company today. Is it a bad thing if it's being charged to the TA and not Royal and if so how do I change that?

-Get the details in writing prior to paying dime one.

-NEVER pay cash, always use a credit card.

    -  only deal with TA's that have the cruise line process your credit card, NOT the TA

-Ask is there is a fee to the agency for cancellations or a fee for re-faring

-IF you book, you should have a formal invoice outlining the fare, any OBC's and your cruise line reservation number.  Log into the cruise line web site, look up your reservation/booking number in order to confirm all [pertinent details.   Note..we typically do not see our TA provided OBC's when we do this.

What is the price delta percentage?  Are other agents providing pricing at a discount to the the cruise line price.  Are you being added to a group and thus enjoying a group discount.  Is the cruise being booked in the same country.  There are sometimes price differences between countries.  We have saved money by booking cruises, vacations, hotels, etc. out of country  vs booking them in North America.

Why not ask that TA why specifically the price is so much lower?

Google the agency or TA to see if any red flags pop up.

  7. Slightly different royal up question....

Suppose you have 4 people, the max for your current room, on your reservation. You win a royal up bid for a room that can hold more people. Two questions (I know about the lifeboat requirements)

    1. Would you be able to add additional people AFTER the royal up?

    2. Would they pay the same amount as guests three and four or would they pay the going rate for the royal up room?

    TIA

WhatsApp is an option if every person in your party has wi-fi, has a phone, has the app, and is able to write.  I'm looking for electronic alternatives for younger children.  What would be the limitations of Tile Mate or Tile Pro on a cruise?  Thanks in advance to you techies...

I shouldn't have put the word "child" in the title, ... i had hoped it would demonstrate the value of the party-member, and figured a child was the most relatable and common example.  I hoped to get at least a few tech responses before the typical judgements started, to keep this thread useful for other cruisers in similar dilemmas.  Is it really that hard to envision the scenarios?  A person w/ dementia, a different-abled person, a developmentally delayed person, a person whose notoriety makes them vulnerable, a fully-capable person w/ quick-onset health circumstances, an older person who might get vertigo or has social phobia, etc.  Please keep this thread focused on POSITIONAL LOCATION VIA TECH, for the ease of future Cruise Critic members, thanks so much!

Not only did you put child in the title, you clearly said you wanted tracking alternatives for younger children.

The scnenarios you described above are all believable but not what you said. You were crystal clear in what you were looking for, don't back track now.

It simply won't work on a ship.

  9. Tracking devices need some kind of connectivity. I can't imagine how this would be accomplished on a ship. I have seen first hand how tile mate worked when there was no wifi avaiable, it didn't.

Perhaps if you were less snippy about your situation and more forthcoming you could get better advice.

If the child you want to track can't read, perhaps they shouldnt be away from you.

On one side of the pool deck, there is a section with chairs, tables and ashtrays.  There is another area on outside on one of the lower decks (my apologies, can't remember which one but it might be 6) that's sort of like an glass enclosed room on the side of the ship.  If you like company, head up to the pool deck.  If you prefer quiet, head down to the "bus."

Deck 5 heading towards 270 before next crusie.

I have a question.  Is seltzer water available all day like water?

Sparkling flavored or unflavored water, Dasani, is available at the coke machines if you have at the very least the soda package. If not, then no.
