  1. I have family on board

to start with they were in a bar and the bill was being covered by P and O

then they were taken to the stadium where they spent the night

Some food and water was provided but it ran out

they only had crackers it seems and slept in camp beds

pretty fed up by the end of it and are having to miss Corsica I believe

If you remove auto tips, they have to turn in anything you give them for the pool.  If you leave on auto tips, they get to keep anything extra that you give them.  Everyone knows who removes tips.

I feel really bad now, I thought I was doing them a favour, we actually asked if it was better for them I’d we paid them in cash and

he said it was as he got paid anyway even if we removed tips, or that’s what we thought he meant

Leaving envelopes in the stateroom with names on envelopes with tips is probably not a good idea, in my opinion.  They may not get to their intended person.    If you still wish to remove the auto tips, give the envelopes in person to whom they are intended.  That way it won't go into someone else's pocket, if you get my drift.

We didn’t leave the envelopes in the cabin the empty envelopes were left on the bed for us with the amount we had to put in each envelope

and who it was going to, we then handed them out personally along with the extra cash tips we wanted to hand out

I didn’t realise they had to hand over all cash tips, that seems very unfair as you tip extra cash to those you want to receive it, not for celebrity to decide

Both of those have the bed by the bath, and the largest balconies.   They are on opposite sides of the deck, as you probably know.   I don't know whether you care about that, nor whether you would prefer to have the bed by the balcony, but if there are other cabins available within your category, you can ask to be switched to them.

We don’t if they are opposite sides and I’m not fussy where the bed is I’ve had both and no preference, my sister wanted bes by bath so she’ll be happy

I think both you and the waiter are correct.   If you are on a cruise and have pre-paid tips the waiter gets the same share of your pre-paid tips impendent of your ranking on the survey.  However, the waiter's survey results are used to determine how many tables he/she are assigned.  They lose tables if the ratings are poor and gain tables if the ratings are good.  The number of tables does affect how much the waiter gets in tips.

So will the waiters still get paid the same if tips are removed assuming they get a good score

I was under the impression that he would still get his full wage from celebrity whether I removed tips or not

and then if I gave him cash he would infact be getting extra

Cruise planner always shows the same picture...😀

both f those cabins should have bed by the bathroom, which is our preference.

the way you tell us...on the deck plan some cabins have a black square...this denotes a convertible sofa bed for a third berth. This is always next to the balcony. Every second cabin has this set up whether it is just a sofa...or convertible for a third person.

    Hope this helps

    cheers

    belinda

    That’s great thanks

  7. We normally pay the tips before we cruise

last cruise however they were added to our account daily

I didn’t realise that it was only the cabin attendant and the other cabin attendant you don’t  see and the waiters you have in the MDR, we had the same table each day, that get your tips, I thought they went in a big pot and we’re split amongst all the staff

We decided to remove tips last time and use cash for tipping instead , we had 4 envelopes left on the bed with the amount we should put in each one and who it was going to and it added up to the exact amount of the tips we removed from the account

We actually tipped more in cash than we would have pre paid and when I asked our waiter how the prepaid tips worked he told me that they get paid out according to the score they get not how much people have paid in pre paid tips

that’s why they are so keen for you to mark them 10 in the survey

Its all very confusing to me

  8. How do you determine if the bed is by the bathroom or the window

I’ve tried to work it and I thought we had picked one of each but I was told they are both bed by bathroom

the cruise planner shows a picture of them both being by window

silouhette 8226 and 8278 hump cabins

    thanks

  9. I don't know.

I do know we felt vibration on this ship in more places and more often than we have before.

I’m pretty sure our cruise is sold out so they wouldn’t move us even if we did complain

Better have more alcohol then to make me sleep lol

  10. We always try to get a balcony cabin on the flat part of the hump because the slanted ones cost more money and often booked anyway, so I disagree with post #3 that said you wouldn't want to have one of those cabins. Honestly, I don't think I would like the biggest balcony anyway because I would feel further away from the ocean when sitting in our cabin. The middle sized ones look nice.

To answer your question, the cabins and balconies on the flat part of the hump are exactly the same size as a "regular" veranda room, but there are other benefits of being on the hump, even on the flat part:

    1) location location, location! Close to the elevators and stairs but you do not get noise from them.

    2) you can look straight down to the ocean instead of straight down into a life boat - great for watching the pilot get on/off the ship.

    3) you get unobstructed views both fore and aft

    Sue

    Perfect thanks

  11. I’ve had 1122 on Equinox, it was a slanting hump balcony, big, but not as big as next door

This time I have a balcony on the flat part of the hump, I assume that will be the same size as a normal non hump balcony ?

I quite fancy seeing both ways as long as it’s not a smaller cabin or balcony

  12. Celebrity prices have dramatically risen in the UK since mid March. We booked in November and paid £116/pp/pn for 1A cabin with Beverage Package but no obc. Their current pricing can't be sustained and would expect to see significant price drops in the coming months.

That’s the same as we’ve paid for our Greek Island cruise, now it’s over £200 a night

    The prices must drop soon
