I don't know whether you, or anybody else participating in this thread, understands exactly what is meant by 48 hours prior to boarding, but if I get my test done at 0900 on Wednesday in Ottawa and board at 1200 on Friday in Civitavecchia (a six hour time difference), am I still OK?  Maybe I should ask my test facility to date/time stamp my test in GMT (a four hour difference, but good enough).

Precisely. The reason Celebrity changed the 48hour rule to 2 day was for international guests. As long as the date on the test was dated 2 days before boarding regardless of time zones differences it was acceptable.

I see from the update today that  visits to Greece appear to now require supervised test within 48 hours of boarding and not the 2 days as previously.

Thank you for pointing this out.I had made an appointment for a 9am test on a Wednesday morning before flying to Rome for departure time 5pm on the Friday . So if there isn't another change we will have to test when we arrive in Italy

After a lovely day in Kusadasi we wtnt to deck 6 for another helipad sail away. They keep referring to these sail aways as being from the “Best View at Sea” While it is nice to see sail away or indeed sail in from the helipad I have to disagree and say the best views for sailing in or out we have experienced have been from the retreat deck on the revolutionised Silhouette.

We picked up drinks from the world class for the show and Joseph kindly let us take their glasses with us as long as we returned them afterwards, which of course I did. There is no drinks service in the theatre post pandemic so one has to bring one’s own. The show was Elysium and I thoroughly enjoyed it as it is one we haven’t seen it for a number of years.

A  random question about the helipad sailaway.!!! We had invitations to attend on our last Reflection cruise and would have loved the experience but there was a stipulation regarding footwear requirements. As all I had packed were summer sandals we didn't go.Do you remember any guests in open shoes attending please?

  4. We also have a late afternoon flight and will disembark as late as possible around 9.30am.

We are staying in Civitavecchia before the cruise and our hotel has agreed to store our luggage post cruise for a few hours and organise the taxi to Rome airport from there later in the day.

Previously we would have purchased the 'Extend your stay' package and remained on the ship for a few extra hours but this option is not available for the foreseeable future due to covid.

That’s weird as in the UK that’s not a recognised proof . Not all the family were even given them

Celebrity ask for original vaccination certificates so we will take these as well as  our NHS covid pass which we have used for European travel. I believe that your GP can issue a certificate with the dates/batch numbers of the vaccines.

Have up loaded my NHS covid pass for proof of vaccination but Celebrity have said they can’t validate it . What have others used ?

I took a photo front and back of the UK vaccination card. For a few days the status said 'validating in progress " then eventually it went to green.

Will be joining you on the 5th. Our first time on Reflection. We're ok with wearing masks all the time.

We also still intend  sailing on our b2b starting February 5th

We have no issues wearing masks indoors and would have anyway even if it was not mandatory. We will spend as much time as possible outdoors especially the Sunset Bar!!

  8. I understand that Celebrity will arrange a test for international travellers before disembarkation so that is taken care of. I understand that Miami airport has a company called Nomi Health on site so we are thinking we could be tested after clearing baggage and immigration before heading off to our pre cruise hotel.

I'm not sure where you are sailing from, but there are a number of threads here in CC that identify locations for testing in Fort Lauderdale.  Here are are some.   Also, the Florida Departures forum is a good place to ask about other options.

    Welcome, and good luck!

Thanks for this information, we sail on a back to back from Fort Lauderdale in February but will stay a couple of days pre cruise in Miami  so the tests that we take to fly to US will be beyond the 2 day time frame to board our ship. We are looking at all possible options including a company that visit you at your accommodation to test you and also a hotel chain that offers testing on site for staff and customers.I have also emailed our hotel to ask if they can give us details of  local testing centres.

  10. We will be in the same situation in February as we arrive in US a couple of days pre cruise to get over the jet lag. Whilst we are sailing from Fort Lauderdale we will be staying in Miami and  have found a company called FastTest in South Beach that use 'travel approved' tests which we assume includes cruise travel.

So that is our plan for now but rules and regulations change so much we will finalise the test booking nearer the time.

  11. We tried Azamara and one benefit was the reciprocal captain club/ le club system.

Being smaller ships in the fleet they can utilise many ports that Celebrity can't or could only tender into .Lots of different activities such as White Night with live music on the pool deck when the officers serve a hot and cold buffet to the passengers and the Azamazing evening held one evening in port.

Much more casual and informal which doesn't appeal to everyone but we highly recommend.

I went ahead and made a cancelable reservation at Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale for Nov. 28. We will arrange for a transfer to the hotel after landing in Miami rather than stay in Miami that night and transfer to the ship Nov. 29. I can spend some time in Fort Lauderdale before going to the Millennium. I'm not one who has to be the first person to board.

Since we will have traveling friends with us I will arrange for a car and driver for the 4 of us.

We stayed at Riverside Hotel before our last cruise. It's in a great location for a pre cruise stay. We booked the Miami airport mini bus transfer to get there . Riverside will organise your transfer to the port offering private limos or shared shuttle when you check out, the vehicles collect from the rear entrance, all very well organised.
