Glad to hear of the small bar. Can you actually sit at the bar or is it just a serving bar? I'm not into laying in the sun so never have even had "snacks" up there.
I vaguely remember there being seats, but not much shade at bar. Think maybe 4 or 5 stools at max. It was off in the front corner of the upper deck, iirc.

I vaguely remember a small bar on the retreat sun deck last year. Also, Jim is correct, the cabanas that you can rent are on the pool deck, but there are also little covered cabana type structures on the retreat sun deck that are available to the first person who walks up at no charge. We had a half empty ship last year and still had a hard time making it to those before the chair hogs. Attaching a picture that kinda shows the retreat ones.

Well phooey. I can see that though. It's definitely been hit or miss for us food-wise, but decent enough that the view makes up for it. No matter what, it'll be a great birthday cruise! Dh and I have the same birthday, so we try to do a joint trip for our birthdays too!

To throw out something different, my DH loves Tuscan for the first night. Watching the wake and the sunset after sailaway really is gorgeous. We love murano and luminae as well, but sunset during dinner is special.

When I had the same issue, I learned that my Seattle based big box TA does not participate in Move Up.
Yup, that's the one! And how I learned as well!

If you booked through a TA, some of them do not participate in move up.

Husband and I will be in a royal on silhouette in March and I'm loving reading your review! I had to read your breakfast experience out loud to DH and we both giggled. Sounds like something that we'd experience. Great story! Glad you're enjoying yourselves, thanks for bringing us with you!

Anyone know how long it takes for the group to respond? I sent an email to the above address a week ago. Also called Royal and the said the email was emergencytravelteam@rcck.com and sent it there as well with all the details, death cert, etc and haven't heard back. Also, the telephone number doesn't work if you press 1 it wants a five digit extension number or it hangs up.
Thanks in advance. I lost my husband in March and would really like to do this for closure.
It took a couple weeks before I heard back. You may also want to try emailing emergencytravelteam@celebritycruises.com. that's who the captains club directed me to. So sorry for your loss.

The did for me a couple months ago. I had already paid a penalty for moving our cruise, but I did not incur any additional "penalty". They simply adjusted to the new rate plus the $200 previous penalty.

We are on the Silhouette. I understand that the layoutte is similar to your description.
I just thought that the bed would split. We have never had this issue in any other cabin.
I just don't want to sleep on a sofa bed for two weeks.
I'm looking at a picture from rs 1116 in January on the silhouette and the bed clearly was able to be split. I also remember the incredibly uncomfortable hump in the middle of the bed. I would suggest asking your stateroom attendant when you board.

You really have me choked up seeing how the Captain and his staff were there to support you and see your father off.
It was incredibly moving. Walking up and seeing all the stripes - dad would have absolutely giggled over it.

I had called the CC number and was told to email emergencytravelteam@celebritycruises.com. i did get an email back after a couple weeks indicating it was possible. I had a follow up question that I never heard back on though, so definitely not the best communication.

Also, flying with human ashes was interesting. You'll want to check with your airline for specifics and plan more time for security even if you have precheck.

We took my father on one last cruise in September on the edge - appropriate as it was the same ship he sailed last on. All was as Jim stated. In addition, we met with the concier5on board who arranged everything. They asked if we wanted a private burial or if we wanted an officer (beyond the environmental officer) to attend. I thought my dad would get a kick out of having an officer just for him, and said so. We were blown away when the captain himself attended. He read a poem and gave us a lovely portfolio with lat/long. It really was lovely and my father would have loved it.
On a side note, they did comment that the boat had to slow to a certain speed and the wind had to be just right, so timing was really all based around that.

We'll see you tomorrow! Your posts on this cruise have been very helpful and reassuring for our upcoming trip.
I second this!! Both the helpfulness and we'll see you tomorrow!

Fabulous info, thanks!

I paid $50 plus tip for a women's short hair cut in September on edge, went on a port day and I think had a captains club discount

Thanks, Chemmo. We're debating whether or not to keep our booking in the current omicron mess or not and thinking in room dining might be fun and useful. Obvs wouldn't want to cause undue or unexpected burden for our butler.
-
Not to hijack the thread, but @chemmo do you have any experience with ordering room service in the RS from other than the room service menu? Say from luminae or the specialty restaurants?
-
I remember seeing one in edge in the last couple months. Could have imagined it though!

We sailed and had Pfizer which gave us the same 21 day time span. We were fine.

In March it was not on the menu but I was able to order anyway. You're correct, it was a buck or two over the premium limit.
