  1. I'm not sure how many have ever seen this show but I had Mrs Bucket (she pronounces it Bouquet) at our table. Her hubby was a plumber by trade and an absolute delight to have as a table mate. She on the other hand was a snobbish braggart and a boar! Nothing was ever cooked right, either too hot, too cold, over cooked, undercooked... you get the point. She was rude to the staff every chance she got. We ordered a rather nice and fairly pricy bottle of red one evening and offered to share it with the other six at the table. Her comment was "how could we drink swill from Austrailia" I told her with ease and said that perhaps the following night she would prefer to by the wine and educate us "poor colonials" (I'm from Canada). She flat out told me it would be difficult to educate any of us not from the UK on the finer things in life. That remark caused her husband to cringe and another great couple to loose it. They called her everything from a sham to a cheap floosy. I changed some of the terms because repeating the real ones would likely get me banned. Thankfully they left in a huff and we had a great table of six for the remainder of the cruise. Don't get me wrong. Some of my best friends to this day are Brits but not Mrs Bouquet!

  2. By far the most popular method is a lanyard around the neck given my observations. Personally I hate them. I have used a small bifold business card holder for at least 10 years now. One side holds the card and the other has some small bills for tipping. I leave it in my shorts if I go for a dip. Never had a problem on ship or shore.

  3. NEVER. Dress for comfort. Now does what I wear impress the only person that really counts, my wife, yes. Yes because short of jeans and my hunting clothing she buys just about everything I wear. My taste in clothing would fit right in on Duck Dynasty but apparently not so well on vacation.

  4. By far the best ever was on Cunard but you are paying a hefty premium for what you get in the Queens Grill. As far as the mainstream lines go I have only sailed Celebrity, Princess and NCL (once and only once). As far as selection goes Celebrity gets the nod. The wife thinks their deserts are the best as well. I don't eat them so I can't comment here. As for quality I found Princess and Celebrity even. Each would get the nod for a particular dish but overall same same in my books. NCL had some great food in their speciality restaurants. As to the buffet and MDR I personally think they need to pay way more attention to quality. Think an Applybees. Remember this is my opinion based upon my tastes and preferences. There will be a hunderd others that dispute what I say based upon their own likes and opinions. Food quality is probably the single most debated subject on these boards and hugely subjective.

  5. Booked for a full day with him on our upcomming cruise based upon the recommendations from others on our roll call that have used him in the past. I checked out his reviews on Trip Advisor (can I use that name?). Anyway, out of 80 or so reviews one was rated as poor, one fair, both for obscure reasons and the rest excellent. I take all reviews with a grain of salt as I have been on the exact same cruise as others and rated it highly only to read a review from another fellow passanger who might as well have been on the Titanic. Nothing was the least bit satisfactory right up to the ending. In the case of Patricks I don't think 97.5% of his clients who posted reviews can be all that wrong. I for one look forward to my day with him.

  6. I know that somewhere on this board there is a picture of just what you described, a sideways inside and it was indeed larger than the standard cabin. A quick search under cabin selection or the whole princess forum might yield some pictures. You could also try searching using the cabin #

  7. If we can't get an aft cabin I pick another cruise. Love the wake and the lack of wind when we are at sea. For the most part the balconies are bigger and there is very little traffic outside the cabin with the exception of those who live there. The wife and I are fortunate that neither of us suffer from motion sickness. The ship does move more back there and yes there is a tad more noise pulling into and out of port and yes you do have to walk farther to the elevators but for us no aft cabin - no cruise. We have turned down upgrades that would have moved us from the back of the ship.

  8. Flew them once last year business class. Probably one of the best in the business. Fantastic service, great food and very comfortable. It consistantly rates amongst the best in the world on several web/travel pages. If you are flying economy I'm certain you will find it a notch above the rest although I can't speak to that in person.

  9. I argee with leaving the ship. Regardless of the length of the cruise it always happens way too fast. As to the toilet paper, I'm getting close to finishing almost 40 years in the army and sometimes just having toilet paper was a luxury so I don't complain about the the stuff on the ship! For me the second would be the travel to the port. Being a land locked Canadian it's always a long haul regardless of the port of departure.
