I was on BR in February, in a JS but at that time Diamond Plus were allowed in the Concierge Lounge so I went there daily.  Amit was the concierge and was very helpful and efficient.   I had a problem with a Chefs Table booking and he immediately resolved it while I was standing there, then followed up later with a note to my cabin just to make sure I was aware.  Not sure if he's still aboard.  I think his relief was ill and so Amit had been extended and he was anxious for a relief so he could take vacation.  I enjoyed the BR.  Good food everywhere although they were short of some things like various condiments for some reason.  Crew was really nice, everyone seemed happy.  I wish I had booked B2B.

Do you know how the "honor bar" works in the  concierge lounge?  It says no charge in remarks.  I know it's usually a no host bar.  Trying to gain clarity on this please.

  2. Ports were  missed and rearranged because of the modifications that needed to be made for this very short journey.  We spent about an hour in Gatun.  The entire day was a bit of chaos as timing kept changing up until the end of the show.  I think we are don't with Windstar for a while as our last cruise was also modified.  Both cruises skipped ports we most wanted to see.  I know things can happen, but we will explore with other companies from now on. We have sailed 6 times with Windstar and now we will try another smal ship line.  Enjoy wherever you travel to, hope it's where you want to be.

Just booked our March 7th Yachtsman Caribbean cruise. We went for cheapest Guaranteed Room and got upgraded to AX stateroom or a 2 category upgrade (a $400 p.p. difference).  This is the 4th time we successfully do this.  With WindstarWizard tool, it is much easier to do this as you can follow room availability almost live.

What is that?....Since I posted I found the answer.  Thanks

  4. I'm 99% sure you can hook up cables to the tv.  It's on an adjustable wall mount and fairly easy to access the ports on  the back.  There are many DVDs, but I didn't notice more current choices (unless they were checked out).  Hope you have the best time.

  5. We were on Legend in November.  You do not need to hold the button on the hair dryer.  They have a great selection of teas in the yacht club.  There is no Diet Dr Pepper.  I am diabetic and had to be a little pushy to only have diet drinks in our suite.  I would bring many books to read for sure.  There is an umbrella in your closet and also by the gangway on rainy days.  There are no binoculars in the suite. The Legend has been going in and out of San Juan.  If that is where you embark, there is both a CVS and Walgreens across from the dock.  You can easily purchase last minute things there.  The wine list on board is actually very good. Enjoy your trip!!

  6. We are boarding Feb 1.  Not a lot of great posts about the Surf.  Starting to get a little nervous.  We were on the Legend  2 months ago back to backs and the officers were  the least friendly of all our Windstar cruises.  Our captain also had wife and daughter on board.  Very interesting.  Oh well, looking forward to the itinerary!!

  7. We used SPB tours and we were very impressed.  TJ was the other tour company that many people used.  It's a lot to see in just a few days.  Enjoy your time.  We skipped the evening ballet as it was just too much to do in one day.

  8. Just did this cruise last month.  Most of the shopping is open.  The "old" shopping area in town is being nicely refurbished.  It will be open and there is also a market (full of crafts and knockoffs) over there.  It's not an easy walk because of construction, so unless you need to get in a workout, grab a taxi for $5 pp.  Better option is to go to a beach, we like sapphire.  The sky ride is also very close to where you will dock and will most likely be open.

Good luck.  Seeing whales is thrilling, though I have never seen one in the Caribbean.  I know what you mean about being close to the water.  That's a big reason we enjoy small ships.  So what's the most unusual place you've seen a whale?  And how far would you travel to see them?

Seeing whales in the Caribbean near Dominica was unexpected. I’m in search of a Narwhal in Norway or the Arctic. So much travel to do. Of course Hawaii is awesome for whales since they are so active there.
