Do you have the SDP? If you have a chance could you stop by the Sushi Bar and ask them what's going on with the $7 cover charge offered with the dining package?
In another review it was suggested that they are no longer honoring this on the Gem.
Thank you!
I had the no frills price. No added extras. My understanding was the a la cartel with UDP was 20% off

Can you advise if pizza delivery (with a choice of ingredients ?) is still offered 24/7 onboard and current price/surcharge - with 18% added or included already.
Also, looking for an updated O'Sheehans Menu (regular & late night limited ones) - just wanted to see if more changes are rolling out again (posting them afterward is fine)
TIA
We didn't order room service except for coffee in the morning
There was an updated and changed menu at o shennans. I personally didn't care for it. Idk why we didn't care for it. We basically ate in the main dining

Enjoy the vacation! Do you have the ubp? I'm curious to know if the 400$ in fees is worth the limited amount of drinking we will do even with the "free" plan. Question being, how much for an average cocktail like white russian or mudslide?
I brought my own magnum wine. I also had a few mixed drinks. I paid the no frills price per person in an ocean view.

Are your kids happy to go? Thank you and have a great vacation!!
My 10 year old son didn't care for it. Very surprising.
My daughter is a teen and had some freedom on the ship. So she had no complaints with entourage

Can you check on the Gem Mermaid in the bridge viewing room Deck 11 forward?
Is she still there? Does she look okay? Is she and her gold tower showered with charms passengers bring her (they present to officer or to Captain) for good luck in return?
I hope your week goes well!
coka:D
We loved to go to the bridge viewing room. The mermaid has all her charms and is well.

If there were continuing problems with noro on this cruise we would have heard about it at length, I am confident of that. Folks on this forum can be counted on for that.
Sorry. I didn't have internet on the ship. Just in the islands with my sprint world plan.
I didn't see people I'll on the ship. It really looked fine.

We also were on this cruise. Restrictions were lifted the last night for dinner. We were told they have to go 72 hours without a noro case before restrictions are lifted....so we obviously had cases this cruise.
I did notice ketchup bottles and such back on the table the last day. I don't really eat at the buffet. But I did notice a few changes in main dining last dinner

Thanks for the update. How was your cruise? Where the seas kind to you and how was PR? Experience any mosquitoes at the islands
A tiny bit rough the first day or two. Pretty nice all around. No issues with mosquitos.
Loved all the islands. Not a great big fan of PR. but we spent a lot of time on beaches or snorkeling or on catamarans in all the islands. My favorite is and will always be ST thomas.

Would you be able to take a pic of the offerings at Maltings and Magnums? My SO and I love 3 things: bourbon, beer and bubbles :)
Darn. I passed it so many times br just kept forgetting. I was in island time lol.

If you are able to report back to this post, it would be so helpful. We're due in St Martin next week.
Thx!
Also, if you are on the Gem: any update on the norovirus concerns?
Capt reporting business as usual in Saint Martin french side as of today

I believe it's under control. No worries on board.

I will be there tomorrow. I hope all is well.

I would suggest going to Mullet Bay for the morning, some good snorkelling and plenty of swimming loads of kids were there and easy swimming. You can hire snorkels, floats etc at the beach, then pack up and walk around the road to Maho beach takes about 10 mins and there is a path next to the road it's an easy walk. Find a spot and watch the planes try standing either end to watch the planes go over or in the middle to have them fly over you. It was rammed when we went and not really anyone swimming much and the sun beds right next to each other all the way along. Have fun and enjoy what ever you do.
That's exactly what I will be doing. I already checked it flights too

Do you know who the Staff Captain is?
I didn't catch his name.

Enjoy the cruise.
Keith
We are!
We r on vacation!!!

Are there enough activities to keep us "YOUNG" seniors busy on our sea days? We prefer to keep busy rather than just lie at the pool all day.
I am with 2 kids and a senior
I found we r keeping busy all the time

Are restrictions lifted at the buffet? Are you allowed to serve yourself or are they serving you. salt and pepper shakers at table or gone.? Did you get any notices in your cabin regarding the previous cruise?
I don't eat at the buffet in general. So I wouldn't know what restrictions look like.

Of course I will be posting a review.
I got what I paid for and because of this I will say the cruise is going as expected. It's a cruise. Not the best. Not bad either.
We are in Puerto Rico now.
I will try to answer any questions while in us territories

Thanks for the update...atleast you know when you get on, it will be squeaky clean
They have shut down security and check in. The terminal is full. They can't let more people in.
At 1:45 they started boarding suites and people in wheelchairs. So it's starting to move slowly.

Wondering if there is any delay embarking after the last cruise-outbreak of sick passengers. Also wondering if any signs of mass cleaning/sterilization is present.
Will be on the GEM next week, so hoping all the germs are long dead.
I am here. So far It's a madhouse but controlled.
It's delayed in boarding. But so far so good.

Thank you all for sharing the happy dance stories or whatever else you do to prepare for a cruise
I read that some of you will be leaving soon. I bid you a Bon voyage!!
TODAY IS DAY
I will be bypassing rush hour traffic here in NJ and leave for my BIL who will then take us the port in NYC.
I WILL BE DANCING UP INTO THE GEM TODAY!!

Just an FYI, I am a pharmacist and there is no literature that supports needing to use motion sickness medication 10 days before cruising. It will not do anything more for you except make you drowsy for 2 weeks. Yes it is true that you do need to use it before you get motion sickness because it will not work if you are already sick. But a day before at most is all that is necessary! Also, Bonine is in the same family of medication but causes much less drowsiness. Just my 2 cents medical information. Lol. Have a great cruise. I also leave in 10 days. Woohoo....
I didn't say 10 days before cruising.
The night BEFORE WE SET SAIL we take it.
And as we are sailing we take it EVERYNIGHT as preventative measure We take the non drowsey. We take it because once we start in sea sickens me its ruins the cruise.
-
First, thank you to your family.
Second, that non drowsy Dramamine is awesome - and basically just ginger for the negative nellies out there.
Third and last, we leave April 2nd and I had to just start packing last night so hopefully I could calm down and FOCUS for the next 13 days. I work from home and all I want to do is research and read reviews! My family thinks I'm nuts!! We also booked last minute and I think it has made me more crazy than usual!
Have a fantastic trip!! [emoji4]

I do have a hard time focusing. My other half usually helps me But with him being gone, I had to start a list for everyday for the last week. Getting little things done , so I am not running around like a chicken without its head.
TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!
On the GEM now Easter week Any questions?

There were extra kids (mine included) but at no time did I feel it was way too many.
