  1. I am prepared to give NCL a second chance providing it treats its customers fairly and is transparent with them from hereon. I accept the fact that NCL is a for profit business and has the right to adjust it pricing and service level. Let's hope NCL learns from this public relation fiasco and turns it into something positive for everyone.

    I agree with you

  2. Look folks, we may not like or agree with the recent changes to new or increased fees.

I don't want to spend any more money than I have to. I have alternatives, but in the bigger picture you have to take a step back and say"THESE ARE GOOD PROBLEMS TO HAVE".

I only hope for all of us, this is the biggest problem we face in our lives. How fortunate we are to have this be our issue. We are all lucky in that respect.

It's petty, but funny when you think about it.

And I'm just as guilty as the rest of us.

    Regards,

Me too. Thanks for putting it in prospective this morning. Kudos

  3. This statement is pure idiocy....The food is free, but you cant have any of it without paying $7.95. That is NOT complementary food. Will I be able to order and pick the food up myself to avoid this charge? If there is no way to get any without the fee calling it complementary is an insult to our intelligence...

If this logic holds then TECHNICALLY all the specialty restaurants are complementary. We don't pay by the food item there, but we have to pay to use the service.

These people must really think we are knuckle draggers....

    6&8

    I couldn't agree more!!!

  4. Norwegian Cruise Line has introduced a new enhanced room service menu that is debuting on board Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway. The new menu offers an expanded selection for breakfast in addition to a wider variety of options available on the 24 hour menu. Individual items on the menu remain available on a complimentary basis and a convenience charge of up to $7.95 will be added to each order placed. Room service is one of up to 29 dining options offered across the fleet, and guests continue to be able to enjoy a wide array of complimentary choices onboard 24 hours a day.

Thank you for posting the auto response. I think at this point if you provide a copy of the enhancements in the menu it would help everyone understand why and the benefits.

  5. I called and spoke to a supervisor and my original information was incorrect. She could not explain why the price difference between the ships. She also advised they are making a lot of changes right now. She did confirm that the Haven will NOT be charged. She also confirmed no more free first night for the dinner shows [emoji20]. I am sorry for any confusion

  6. That's how I read it, too.

That's not what the FAQ entry quoted above says...

It says that the items are free, but there is a "convenience charge" for them to bring them to your cabin, and it is different on the BA vs. GA.

My apologies for the mistake but I guess it can be read either way

  7. Seems like they are saying the food remains complimentary as always. But to bring it to your door, it's $4.95 or $7.95. Sort of like the pizza has always been.

    Or Im wrong

That is incorrect. Some come to the door free some for $4.95 and some for $7.95. At least that is how it was explained to me

  8. Norwegian Cruise Line has introduced a new enhanced room service menu which is being tested on board Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway. The new menu offers an expanded selection for breakfast in addition to a wider variety of options available on the 24 hour menu. Individual items on the menu remain available on a complimentary basis and a convenience charge will be added to each order placed. As we test and refine this new room service menu the convenience charge will be $7.95 on Norwegian Breakaway and $4.95 on board Norwegian Getaway. Room service is one of up to 29 dining options offered across the fleet, and guests continue to be able to enjoy a wide array of complimentary choices onboard 24 hours a day. During the test room service across the balance of the fleet remains unchanged.

This is what I was told also. I was told the $4.95 or $7.95 was depending on the items ordered.

  9. I called NCL and they clarified the new room service menu. I hope this is not a repeat post. So here it goes

Part of the menu with be complimentary as always.

Part of the menu with have items for $4.95.

Part of the menu with have items for $7.95.

They are only testing this menu on the Breakaway and Getaway at this time.

If someone has clear pictures of the menu that would be great

Sorry again if duplicate post but I wanted some clear information and the other post was too long

  10. So based on everything I have read on TripAdvisor and Cruise Critic, I found the names of several highly recommended private tour guides for my upcoming day in Jamaica... and all of course say they were the best...

I have since emailed them all and they're all willing to go where I want, but they've all quoted me the same price! How to choose?

Courtney Taylor, Errol Bowen, Marvyn Gayle, as well as going with a tour group like Ocho Rios Authentic Tours (Elizabeth Flowers) or Wentworth Tours (Wentworth Pearson)... and I'm still waiting to hear back from Dwaine Bailey and Ionie McBeam...

so... has anyone toured with 2 or more of these guys to help me compare??

We went with Marvyn in February and it was great. Driver was Suzette and we had a wonderful experience. Went to blue hole, Dunns Falls, fern gully and Scotchies for lunch. They spent the entire day with just us and we loved it.

  11. I booked him last February and he was great. Our driver was Suzette and she felt safe and protective over us when people tried to sell us stuff. It was very nice

  12. I am a little confused on how this works/what it means in regards to points. According to NCL you earn points the following ways:

Earn 1 point for every cruise night.

Earn 1 additional point per night for reserving a Suite or in The Haven.*

Earn 1 additional point per night when booking nine months or more in advance.

Earn 1 additional point per night when booking a Latitudes Insider Offer.

So as far as I understand it, if you book using the Insider Offer shouldn't you receive the additional points? Or is there an occasional Insider Offer that is the extra points? I have always seen the same offer which is OBC based on room category.

I am trying to figure out if I am missing points or not, my cruise last November on the Epic was booked using an Insider Offer with the OBC. On my confirmation from NCL LATVIP is one of the fare codes.

This is what NCL sent to me

The Latitudes Rewards program was designed to allow our guests the opportunity to earn more points for booking a Suite, booking with the Latitudes Insider offer and for booking 9 or more months prior to sailing. As with all programs, specific parameters were established with the policies/procedures to be followed for the credit of the points. The different promotions are always driven by a booking window and with a specific promotional code. This means that in order to qualify for that promotion, the reservation needs to be made within that time frame and must have that promotional code reflected in it.

For our Latitude members, we have a couple of different promotions that can be available at any given time. One offers price discount from the cruise price (i.e. LATOFFER), one offers double points for select sailings (i.e. LATBONUS) and the Latitude Insider offer that provides an Onboard Credit and one additional Latitude Reward point per night. The additional Latitude points are credited automatically by our system after the cruise completion if the reservation has one of promotional codes that extends additional points.

In reviewing the history I see that your reservation was booked using the LATOFFER promotional code, which extends a cruise fare discount to our Latitude Members but does not provide additional Latitude Rewards points.

For our Latitude members, we have a couple of different promotions that can be available at any given time. The promotions are:

LATBONUS: Offers double points for select sailings

LATOFFER: Is a price discount from the cruise price

LATITUDE: Is the Latitude Insider offer and provides an Onboard Credit and one additional Latitude Reward point per night.

LATVIP: Offers an onboard credit with the value based on the Latitude Rewards Tier Level

The additional points are credited automatically by our system after the cruise completion if the reservation has one of promotional codes that extends additional points (i.e. LATBONUS

  13. No kids for me....yet

But i can try to snag one of the dailies for his age group and post them (here and on my blog) if that's helpful.

When I first started cruising, there was no kids room, they would essentially meet at a low-traffic stairwell and play games, it was a blast, so I have no doubts that he'll have a great time no matter what, especially with what they have onboard now

As for dessert, #1 all time is the oreo cheescake in Cagney's, but i'll be sure to sample others

My favorite dessert too. I was on the Getway in September and they had a chocolate molten cake which was very good. Hope it is on the Epic

  14. Norwegian's CDs rotate in and out every couple months, right? Julie will be back. I haven't heard anything about the relative merits of JC.

JC was our the CD on 2 of my cruises and was great!!! Really love his personality. Even friends on FaceBook with him. Great guy

  15. We used Marvin back in February. Loved him our driver was Suzette and she was informative. We are going back in February and going to book him again. Very happy with paradise tours as we wanted a private tour and to do what we wanted.
