  1. Thank you all very much for your responses. I have been on the Gifts & Gear site, but wanted to hear from people that actually have done them before -

you have all helped a lot in making a decision!! :)

We are driving to port, so the bathrobes will fit nicely in our car trunk...:p

  2. Hello!

We will be on the Liberty this July for our 15th Anniversary.

We have been looking at various romance packages and would like to hear about what other think of them.

Also, has anyone ever done a vow renewal on-board? How was the planning / assistance in that?

    Thank you!

  3. There isn't a special discount, but it is like getting an extra part of a day since you only have to get off the ship for a few minutes and you can even go back to your room while others are waiting to get theirs. We love cruising this way. Maybe ships, like Freedom, have alternating itineraries that make them especially suited for cruising B2B. We have to travel from the west coast to Florida so we just don't think it's worth all the trouble for a 7 day cruise.

Hello! Perfect timing for me to read this thread as just today I booked a B2B out of New Jersey. So excited to be doing this. One question I have is: do we need to get in line for a new Seapass card? We have the same room booked for both cruises - do we need to pack our suitcases?

    Thanks!

  4. Here is a scenario my husband just thought of, and I thought I would ask if anyone has ever done this. If yes, what advice can you give us?

*** You are on a 7-day cruise, and on day 5 or so you go to the guest services / reservation desk and ask, "Do you have any cabins available for the very next cruise, i.e. we stay on ship for another week?"***

    Thank you for any/all advice!

  5. Thank you for the menus. Do they offer additional specials for dinner? Is there a kids menu available?

    Hello 2boyzmom!

We were on the 12/22-12/29 sailing of the Breakaway and were in the Haven. We had breakfast there just about everyday - we could order a warm dish off the menu, but there was also a buffet available with fruit, yogurt, danish, cereal, variety of bread with cheeses, cold cuts and smoked salmon.

There were no specials for dinner - it was the same menu every day. A kids menu is available - it is the same kids menu for any restaurant on the ship. Our son (9) took advantage of that!

    Enjoy your cruise!

  6. Happy New Year! This is a very interesting thread as we just sailed with the Breakaway last week, and had been on Allure of the Seas in April. On the drive home, hubby and I could not help but talk about what we liked about each ship. We decided on the following:

Benefits of RCCL ( Allure of the Seas) that we really liked but were unavailable on the Breakaway:

    1. photo package deal - we could preorder a CD and got ALL of our digital prints on it - we came home with about 150 pictures from all around the ship and formal portraits

    2. "My Family Time Dining" - our son was given his meal right away and was then picked up at entrance to MDR by the youth staff and taken to the kids club so we always had "date time" at dinner and thereafter.

    3. No additional charges for kids staying in club until closing

    4. Breakfast with the characters (Dreamworks) were free - had three different breakfasts to cover all the characters

    5. unlimited internet package deal for $150.00 (never had to worry about minutes and hubby needed this for work)

    6. No water slides on the Allure, but the kids pool area we found better on the Allure - we had lounge chairs and son was always in view - on the Breakaway the pool was lower than splash area - pool was out of view

    7. Two cafés on the ship had free sandwiches, soups and pastries all day - could not find anything like this in the Atrium area of the Breakaway

Though I have mentioned all these things above, we found the Breakaway to be a great ship and we had lots of fun. We did like:

    1. Heated pools!

    2. very friendly staff

    3. Entertainment was very good (dueling pianos!)

    4. Never had a bad meal (ate at Buffet, MDR, one specialty restaurant )

    5. BIGGEST bonus - no need to fly - could drive to NY

We are glad we tried NCL, but will be going back to RCCL (Quantum) next year.

  7. We were just on the 12/22 sailing on the Breakaway, and though many of the days were on the "chilly" side, we were in the pools / slides every day. My son (9) loved the "whip" slides - both the yellow and purple. The basic blue slide was also lots of fun - even I liked it. :)

There were never any lines to use the slides, but that may have been due to the chilly temps. (The hot tubs were always full!)

The kids pool under the slides was also fun - the deepest part is 4'7" and the shallow end 3'3". This pool was heated and was lots of fun.

The Spongebob kiddie area was very popular with lots of kids. The "sprays" were only on one day (Nassau).

Yes, the "free fall" slides have 99 pound minimum weight.

  8. Hello! Just booked a last minute cruise, and I am now getting all in order. Our little guy (9) loves Spongebob - for those of you who have done the "Pajama Jam" - is it worth going? Is the breakfast really all just colored pancakes and waffles? Trying to decide if I should book or not. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

  9. Ship - Allure of the Seas

    Deck - 7

    Stateroom # - 574

    Stateroom Category – D2

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – no problems with noise at all. Heard an occasional toilet flush

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - yes

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – we were always docked starboard, and I really liked people watching

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal - this was our first cruise ever, so all was nice!

Was wind a problem? - no

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Any specific problems with this cabin? - none

Any other comments? - I must admit something - being our first cruise we decided to splurge on a balcony. Next time around though, inside will be fine with me. For the amount of time we actually used the balcony, it was not worth it.
