1. Well, since I never received a call back from the representative last week, I went ahead and escalated my complaint to the contactmichael@celebrity.com email address. I just got off the phone with a representative from the executive department. They provided me with a complimentary bottle of wine and dinner at the specialty restaurant of our choosing. She was very nice and apologetic. I really just wanted my concerns heard, so I am satisfied with this outcome. Now to enjoy the cruise! :)
  2. You look adorable! But I think, just keeping with the dress code, a sport coat a the minimum would be better. He could try it, but I would have a sport coat (or suit and tie) in the ready just in case. That attire looks great for the casual nights. I love bow ties!!!! But go with the solid color shirt . . .

Just read the part where you lost your job . . so sorry! I hope this cruise is extra special and that you are fortunate enough to gain employment soon!!!. Good Luck.

Well, thank you for the compliment :) I love bow ties too. Actually, I love dressing up and I keep telling my companion that I'm disappointed I won't get to dress up. I really wanted to rent a tux, but I'm sure I'll look dapper either way.

I am definitely going to live up this cruise and enjoy it with a job or without :)

  3. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it.

Yes your dress would be acceptable, just as a jacket and shirt without tie is acceptable.

There is no 100% guarantee, as it's a judgment call by the greeters for any "non-standard" dress (including what kind of mood they're in). But in our experience, I'd say 98% chance you'd get in without a problem. Especially the 2nd one. A dark dress shirt looks a little dressier, IMO. The plaid shirt looks a bit more casual, although the vest and bow tie certainly dresses it up more.

I think it also depends a little on how the rest of your party is dressed too. We are usually a party of 4 guys. 3 of us always dress on format nights with a minimum of dress shirt + tie, while one is more lazy and half the time just shows up in a polo shirt. We've never been turned away on a formal night. But I think that's in part because 3 of us are dressed better. And we always choose Select dining (not fixed times) so that we're seated at our own table.

We were turned away one time at the MDR on a non-formal night when one in our party showed up in shorts, purely by accident (we'd just returned from an excursion and he just spaced out changing clothes).

Thank you for your reply. I would most definitely wear a solid colored shirt. I love my plaid shirt, but I don't think it looks as nice with the vest.

Technically speaking the lack of a jacket puts you outside the bounds of the formal dress code. It is possible you may be refused entry but I think that is very unlikely. The Constellation doesn't seem to have a reputation for being excessively formal.

Thanks. I hope you're right. I'd be highly embarrassed if I was turned away. I hate drawing attention to myself. I had intended on buying a jacket for our trip, but I unexpectedly lost my job shortly after the final payment was paid. And luckily for me, I have a unique build, so borrowing a jacket from someone else wouldn't work... Lol

  4. Hey everyone!

I've been perusing this thread for a little bit and I wanted to run whether the two attached photos would pass for formal night in the MDR. I'll be on my first Celebrity cruise next week onboard the Constellation. It would just be a dress shirt with a vest and a bow tie with a pair of slacks. Thanks for your insight.

  5. Hey everyone!

First, let me apologize ahead of time if this has previously been discussed. I'm sure Atlantis is mentioned ad nauseam on this board. My boyfriend and I will be on a cruise next week that will make a stop in Nassau on Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. He's never been to Nassau and this will be my third time being there. He is set on visiting Atlantis, but neither of us have any interest in purchasing passes. He only wants to go so he can say he's been. I really have no desire to go there, because I feel that unless we buy tickets it'll be rather pointless. I will go if he still really wants to go.

So, in your opinions, do you think it'd be worth it for us to go without passes? Also, are there things to do around Atlantis? I'd hate to spend the money getting over there just for a five minute tour of Atlantis.

    Thank you for your input.

  6. Hey everyone!

I'm going to be in Key West on Sunday, March 29 from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. One of my requirements for the trip is of course key lime pie. I've been perusing the forums here as well as looking around online. I am pretty sure I'd like to go to able Heaven, but I'm concerned about how long the wait could be. If there's available space at the bar, would we be able to just get a slice there with a shorter wait? Or are there any other key lime places that put meringue on their pies that could be an option as well? Thank you.

  7. Thank you for the review. I hope our cruise isn't that wild here in 10 days.

Wow thanks for your review. I had heard in another thread about it being a party boat given FL Spring break. Glad you were not impacted. Feel really bad for the crew. WRT the pool butler he had probably had enough drama for the week given your and the other reviewers description of the pool deck. We are on the 3/26 Constellation sailing.

We're on the same cruise! Have you joined the roll call?

  8. Hi All -

It will be my first time sailing with Celebrity and will be on the Constellation on 3/30. I am taking my Mom for a quick get away!!

For those of you who have sailed on her before - what advice would you give me and in general about Celebrity?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Paul

I can't attest to what it's like on the Constellation, as I haven't cruised on that ship yet, but it looks like we'll just be missing each other. I'll be on the cruise just before yours.

If you like crepes, eat lunch at Bistro on 5. There is a $7 pp upcharge, but you can eat whatever you want there.

Celebrity has excellent main dining room food. We like eating at the 6pm seating, but you can eat at 8:30 or in select dining (whenever you want).

The buffet has an eggs benedict station on the starboard side toward the aft of the ship. It turns into a pizza station for lunch.

    We like the hot tubs.

I've been craving eggs Benedict since I booked our cruise. Thanks for letting us know where to get them. I'm going on the March 26 sailing, and this will be my first time on the Constellation as well.

  9. Hey everyone!

I just wanted to write a quick update. I emailed Celebrity last Saturday evening. I received a phone call Wednesday evening from someone at Celebrity, but I wasn't available to answer. They left a message and sent an email and the gist of those were an apology and they were happy they could mitigate my losses by providing the $100 onboard credit from my second phone call.

I called back within 20 minutes of the missed call on Wednesday and I was told the person helping me was gone for the day and they'd leave him a message to call me back. I haven't heard anything since then.
  10.
Hopefully the OP has been communicating with X and will come back and let us know the final results.....
Yea, I did contact Celebrity through email on Saturday evening after they posted in this thread. I'm still waiting for a response. I'm sure it takes some time for them to sift through the emails they receive. I'm trying to be patient... Lol. I'll definitely let everyone know of the outcome.
  11.
Sorry you are having difficulty.

Is it possible the $200 increase is taxes? The base fares that show up when you see each category do not include the taxes. I took a peek at your sailing date and the price from the first page to the booking page went up about $200 when the taxes were added.

As far as upgrading, cle-guy is correct. You are booking so close to the sailing date that any change is difficult (and usually expensive) to make. When booking a cruise I always book the cabin I want knowing that changing to something else will usually cost more money than it is worth.

If you read these forums a lot, you'll at least be happy to know that the onboard product is much better than the on-line support.
Thank you, Rick. No, even with the taxes included, the full balance due was $1,032. The first representative I spoke with even mentioned with all the bells and whistles, he couldn't see it being as high as the site told me on Wednesday.
  12. Thank you, everyone for your comments and suggestions. I did reach out to Celebrity on the email they provided earlier in this thread. I'm looking forward to hearing from them and will let everyone know the outcome.

For those that recommend getting a TA in the future, do you feel like you can still research and plan your trip? For me, looking for the deals and all the research is like an extension of the vacation for me.
Sorry to say this but I can see that this cruise will end up being a total disaster since you are off to a bad start no matter how things really are you will be in a total negative mood unless you let it go.

As they say if NJ Fugeddaboudit.

What has happened is not unique to you as there have been a few other threads about this recently. Don't really know the problem or reason as Celebrity will run many specials and different rates for the same cabin same cruise. Some are in lieu of other promos but are really not clear and very difficult to figure out. One of the problems is that they do not list the taxes and fees in the cost when choosing a cabin. The almighty * is there and they are listed but not included.

    Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞
It is sad to hear that this isn't unique, but hopefully Celebrity will fix the issues they have. I'm actually pretty laid back, and easily impressed, so I doubt the trip will be any less enjoyable because of my experience. It's our first vacation together and we're still very excited about going, even if we are a little miffed at the cruise line.
Hopefully the OP checked back in here and sees post #16.....
I did see that post and contacted them last night. Hopefully they respond soon :)
  13. Hey everyone!

My boyfriend and I are going on a cruise on board the Celebrity Constellation that sails on March 26th. We'll be in Nassau on Friday, March 27th. This will be his first time visiting Nassau and it'll be my third. This will also be our first vacation together. My boyfriend really wants to snorkel, and I have no desire to. I've snorkeled several times before, including once in Nassau and I t's just an activity I don't enjoy.

He is aware I have no desire to snorkel, but I also don't want him to feel like he can't snorkel, since he seems really excited to. We've been trying to find a compromise, but so far we haven't had much luck. My boyfriend did find an excursion where we kayak and snorkel, which we both were interested in doing, but it is already sold out. I've thought about taking a snuba excursion, but the prices tend to be more than what we want to spend and the duration is typically longer than what we want since we plan to do other things in Nassau. I've also thought about him buying a snorkel and goggles and just go to a beach without an official excursion. I'm just not sure if that's feasible.

Does anyone have any suggestions that could be a good compromise for us? Thank you for your input.

  14. Hey everyone!

So, I booked a 4-night Bahamas cruise on board the Celebrity Constellation for March 26, 2015 for my boyfriend and I on Wednesday. This is my first booking with Celebrity and I have to say that so far, I am very unimpressed.

On Tuesday, I went to Celebrity.com and placed a 24-hour hold on the cruise. I returned on Wednesday within the 24-hour window to finalize my booking. When I logged into the site, and went to pay, the amount I owed was over $200 more. I contacted customer support where I spoke with a guy that kept insisting it was impossible for me to be seeing an increase in what I owed. He got kind of snarky and asked me what I wanted him to do about it. I asked him to finalize my booking for me. For some reason he couldn't use the reservation I had originally requested, so he canceled it and created a new reservation. I realized after the fact that I was charged $100 more than I should have been. I took a screen shot of the amount of my original reservation and what I paid and attempted to use the customer contact form on their site to show that I should be reimbursed $100. After writing my letter, I got an error message stating the page did not exist.

Frustrated even more, I called the customer support line again and spoke with another gentleman that didn't seem too sympathetic either. He asked why I had not mentioned anything about the price discrepancy when I was on the phone with the other guy the night before, which I didn't feel should have any relevance to my situation. At first, he apologized and said there was nothing that could be done, because I was the one that canceled the reservation. I wasn't the one that canceled the hold, the customer service representative from the night before did. I told him that was not acceptable to me and I was then offered $100 in onboard credit. I had lost my patience by that point and chose to accept that.

My boyfriend and I were talking earlier tonight and we both thought that it'd be nice to have a balcony. I did some research and thought it might be beneficial for us to upgrade to a Concierge suite with the 123go incentive. I called the customer service line again and was told I could upgrade, but couldn't qualify for the 123go incentive as it would have to have been added to my original reservation.

It seems like nothing can go right with this reservation and I hit a road black at every turn. I'm so disappointed in the customer service and how difficult it has been to get resolutions. I'm sure we will have a great time once we're on the ship, but I am so beyond frustrated with Celebrity right now.
  15. I remember being on my very first cruise at the age of 14 and I asked for a virgin piña colada and it got spiked. There's no way they would have thought I was old enough. I'm 30 now and still often get carded. I told my mom it tasted funny and she quickly figured out there was rum in it. That didn't happen on NCL though, it was aboard the Big Red Boat.

  16. Thanks so much!

Can anyone let me know if we have 10 people for dinner a few times during the week do we have to let the MDR know in advance to set up the tables? We will be sailing in Summer so I expect the ship to be full. Is having a group of 10 a problem with Freestyle dining?

    Thanks so much!

I doubt it would be any different than on the EPIC, so I'll give you my experience from the EPIC. I was sailing solo and the solo people would eat dinner together every night. The group sizes ranged from just a few up to 20. We usually called up the dining room after dinner had started, let them know we were coming and they'd get a table ready for us. We usually had to wait five or so minutes and there were times we had to wait about 20 minutes. When we had to wait 20 minutes or more, we were given a free glass of champagne each at the bar next to the dining room. They accommodated us very easily.

  17. We just booked this excursion for our upcoming April cruise - Hope some of you give it a mini review when you return. We have zip lined twice and loved it!!

I will definitely let you guys know how my experience is there once I get back. I plan to try and take pictures too. This will be my first time ever zip lining.

I'll be on the March 2nd sailing of the EPIC. I'll try not to tear the ship apart too much ;)

  18. Hey everyone!

I am 29 years old and I am a fairly new transplant to the Pittsburgh, PA area. I will be embarking on my first solo cruise on my first transatlantic cruise to my first trip to Europe! A lot of firsts there! I am a single guy and I typically go on vacations alone because my parents like to go on trips I'm not necessarily interested in (they just went on a Northeast US/Canada cruise on the Jewel of the Seas) and most of my friends aren't in a position to afford vacations. I also love the ability to do what I want, when I want to do it and not have to worry about whether someone else wants to go or not. I work in a high stress environment, so being able to wind down and not have to socialize if I don't want to is another major perk.
