  1. Yes, I did call the shore excursion desk.  Supposedly, the excursions have not been reloaded since there was an itinerary change.  The excursion desk did not offer to book anything for me nor could they tell me when the excursions would be added nor did they offer to let someone know that this needs to be taken care of. I guess I should call again and see if I can encourage them to “git er done!”

  2. Update - spoke to the shore excursions desk today. Since this sailing had an itinerary change, the excursions for HMC have not been updated yet.  She said eventually, there should be about 45 options.  She said I should just check back everyday because she did not know when the excursions would be added.  We’re almost 30 days out so hopefully it won’t be much longer.

  3. I just checked again, on a desktop computer on the HAL website - not the app - and there are no additional excursions other than the cabanas, villas, butler service, and the 1 glass bottom boat that I have already mentioned. Nothing is showing "sold out" either. I am going with 3 other ladies, and they don't see any excursions either. I will call HAL and see what I can find out.

We are on the same as first leg of B2B.  There were more online options last week, tho seems to be fewer now visible online.  My thought is wait a bit and more excursions should pop up, as there are normally several HMC options (kayak/horseback ride/snorkle/stingray/bicycle tour, etc).  If you want a simple beach day, I would recommend getting a clamshell rental as the shade will be welcome.

I admit, I’ve only been booked on this cruise for 2-3 weeks, but I have seen no other excursions since booking other than the ones I’ve already mentioned. I don’t even see a clamshell rental.  I made sure I don’t have any filters set, and I clicked “see all excursions,” but still nothing new.
Do you mind to check your app, Greenspout, to see if you see something that I’m not?

  5. I prefer to bring meds (mostly vitamins and supplements) in a Sun-Sat pill sorter.  This will save a lot of packing space plus some bottles are glass so I don’t want to bring them. I also want to bring some “just in case” over the counter meds - like Pepto, allergy, ibuprofen. Again, to save space, I would prefer to just bring a few and not the whole bottle. Will this be a problem with security - either at the airport or for the cruise?

  6. So far, no one has replied on the Caribbean/Dominican Republic board.
Here is the description of the HAL excursion:

Hop on an open-air safari truck and immerse yourself in the Dominican countryside.

Your outing begins with a visit to the Monkey Land. In the tropical jungle, listen to the sounds of nature while keeping an eye out for the cute little squirrel monkeys that abound in this natural environment. Trained staff give you a plate of fruit that you can offer to the monkeys. These cheeky, friendly creatures love shiny objects -- hang on to your belongings or they will relieve you of loose items for later play. This is an awesome opportunity to get up close with these loveable, fun little monkeys.

After searching for “monkey” on the Dominican Republic board, people have said - it’s an enclosure and monkeys climb all over you, and I swear I read a post that said it’s 2.5 hours away from port? Maybe these are reviews from other cruise lines going to a different place?

Im not sure if these experiences are the same place that HAL is going???  Looking for specific details, please.

  7. The scenery was great in Alaska, and it was very enjoyable to watch from our cabana. If I remember correctly, when we viewed one of the main glaciers, the view was at the front of the ship only, and there were several locations to view the glacier. But there was a ranger on just one deck to answer questions, etc (and this was the most crowded area, but still lots of room). While we were stopped at the glacier, we were pretty close to land (if I remember correctly), and we used our binoculars from our room balcony to watch for bears and rams.

  8. Thanks for everyone’s insights. I thought I had decided on the wise choice - my hat with a chin strap.
However, like any decent lady, I tried my hats on again and prefer the hat without the chin strap! So I’m throwing caution to the wind (heehee) and going with fashion over function. ;)))
