You might be right, but if itinerary was the driving factor, then carping about the casino size is even less relevant. Itinerary should be the driving factor.

That might be a bit dramatic, no? Looking at the deck plans you referenced, and only considering the passenger accessible areas, the theater takes up 23.5% of the space, O'Sheehans takes 19%, the casino takes 33.5%, and the Manhattan room takes 24%. So the casino (sky bar included) takes slightly more then a third of the deck...I don't know if 1/3rd counts as "almost the entire 7th floor".

    1. The itinerary was on the Mediterranean, Rome to Barcelona.
    2. Please read carefully my message above, I explained that I was referring to the walking/socializing area between the elevators. The theatre and Manhattan are outside this area.

The Escape casino is no bigger than any other casino I have been on other ships even on other cruise lines.  It doesn’t come close to taking up the entire 7th floor because you also have the theater, O’Sheenans, and the Manhattan Room on that floor.

I said it takes almost the entire 7th floor and what I meant is the area where people usually walk/socialize and this area is in between the elevators/stairs. It excludes the theater and Manhattan and includes only O'Sheehan's and the casino.

Silly question but didn’t you look at the deck plans before you booked? If a large casino is an issue I’m not sure why you picked that ship.

Take a look at the deck plan on NCL website: https://www.ncl.com/fr/en/cruise-ship/escape/deck-plans
The casino is shown to occupy only a small area on the side, across the Skyline bar, but in fact it goes all the way from Manhattan to O'Sheehan's, and Skyline is a part of it (they even have poker machines at all the bar chairs in Skyline).

  4. Just got off NCL Escape and didn't enjoy at all having the casino occupying almost the entire 7th floor.
I never saw on any other ship so much space reserved for the casino.
Everybody can do whatever they want with their money, but in my opinion the casino should be located in a remote part of the ship, not in the middle.
Last but not least, I hate to be obliged to swallow cigarette smoke when passing through the casino and trying to get to O'Sheehan's.
    Big thumbs down, NCL Escape!

If the price drops after final payment you can request a FCC ( future cruise credit ). You can only do the request 1 time, if it drops further you will not get another.

I did the request just yesterday and will hopefully receive one for $1200.00 to use on my next cruise. They are good for 1 year.

The price of my cruise dropped 2 days after final payment date (which is 30 days before departure). I called them and asked for a FCC and they categorically denied it.

They said that after final payment there is absolutely nothing they can offer.

Maybe here in Europe they have other rules?

Do you suggest to call again after a while and speak with a different agent? Any other idea?

If you win and the chances are very slim, you will get all t he haven perks just as if  you'd reserved a haven room to begin with.  And, yes, the Haven is worth it.  My wife wouldn't cruise any other way.

You were right @RocketMan275, we didn't got the Haven upgrade. But we still won a Club Balcony with a very convenient bid, so everything is fine after all.

  7. Hello, we're going soon on a Mediterranean cruise with NCL Escape and we've been offered to buy this OBC Certificate.

Can we pay onboard the mandatory 20$/person/day by using this OBC certificate?

What will happen if I will not spend it completely? Will I keep the rest as OBC for another cruise or will I lose it?

    Thank you!

  8. Sorry to post again a question which was probably asked/answered before, but I already browsed several topics and couldn't find an answer.

We are going in April on a cruise in the Mediterranean with NCL Escape.

We have a balcony cabin and we placed several bids for some Haven suites.

The question is: if we win the bid, will we have access to the Haven reserved spaces (such as Lounge, restaurant, Sun deck, etc.)? Or it is just a cabin upgrade with no other perks in addition?

I'm asking because if the latter is true I believe I'm going to cancel my bids; I don't think it's worth to pay so much money for just a few additional sqm.

Thank you in advance for your answers.
